MountainKat | 31587 comments Hi Sandy, I'll be working on your picks soon but not tonight. It's my last night with my sister and traveling home all day tomorrow. I don't think I will have them up before Wednesday morning, but sometime Wednesday for sure. I took a quick look at your shelves, but need more time to make the picks as good as possible for making you wait. Just wanted to let you know that I didn't forget about you!

message 57: by Kaity (new)

Kaity | 492 comments Hiya, Christina!! I had a lot of fun picking out books for you. I hope there's something you end up enjoying :)

Goal Keeper:
1. Shadow Spell by Nora Roberts (New)
Go To Author/Comfort Read - You've read the first in the series but I didn't see this one on your TBR. Roberts is both a comfort and go to author for me (although I've read much more under JD Robb from her).
Frostbite by Richelle Mead (TBR)
Go To Author - I loved this book. I enjoyed VA but this one really made me fall for the series and made me scout out Mead's other works.
2. On the Edge by Ilona Andrews (TBR)
Colorful Cover - Ilona is one of my favorite writers. I don't enjoy this series are much as the Kate Daniels one but I still love it :)
Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare (New)
Colorful Cover - I didn't see a lot of HR on your page but I thought this book was great and I couldn't not include a colorful dress for a colorful cover category!

Shadow Spell (The Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy, #2) by Nora Roberts Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2) by Richelle Mead On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews Romancing the Duke (Castles Ever After, #1) by Tessa Dare

Defender:
3. Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon (TBR)
Long Book - At 836 pages I'd consider this pretty long.
Rock Chick by Kristen Ashley (New)
Long Book - I read this recently for Meet and Greet and loved it. I don't think it's for everyone (just wanted to mention that since I didn't see any books by her on your read/TBR), Ashley is a rambler (this one is about 400 pages) and Rock Chick book can be silly.

Styxx (Dark-Hunter, #22) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley

Midfielder:
4. Hard Bitten by Chloe Neill (New)
Next in Series - This is a series I've meant to start for ages but haven't gotten around to. I saw you recently finished the third, keep on going! :)
Rusty Nailed by Alice Clayton (New)
Next in Series - This book comes out today. I read the first for June's PIFM and was pleasantly surprised.
5. Legend by Marie Lu (TBR)
Dystopian - A lot of people seem to love this one but I haven't read it yet either.
Hard as It Gets by Laura Kaye (New)
Take Charge Male Lead - I thought this book was very well done and yummy, both the plot and romance was stellar.

Hard Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #4) by Chloe Neill Rusty Nailed (Cocktail, #2) by Alice Clayton Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu Hard as It Gets (Hard Ink, #1) by Laura Kaye

Forward:
6. Cinder by Marissa Meyer (New)
Successful Rec - My sister is not a reader. It takes her months to finish a book and if she's already seen the movie than what's the point of the book (sigh). I forced her to read Cinder and she ended up loving it.
Spider's Bite by Jennifer Estep (TBR)
Successful Rec - I think this is a must for fans of urban fantasy!
7. Wait for Me by Elisabeth Naughton (TBR)
Eye-Catching Cover - Love the colors on this cover, very appealing to the eye.
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell (TBR)
Eye-Catching Cover - This cover get me every time, it's just so adorable.

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep Wait for Me (Against All Odds, #1) by Elisabeth Naughton Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Referee:
8. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (TBR)
Wannabe Classic - Maybe not a real classic but this book has the feel of one. If you read it soon, you'll be just in time for the TV show :)
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman (New)
Wannabe Classic - Another that feels like a classic. I also feel like Pratchett and Gaiman are staples in their genre. I'm not crazy about regular adult fantasy (I prefer YA fantasy or PNR/UF) but I thought this book was incredibly clever and fun to read.

Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon Good Omens The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett

Fran | 12271 comments Hi Karen!

Here are your picks....I hope you find something you like!

Goal Keeper- I don't read much Historical right now, but when I did....I loved Teresa Medeiros.
A Kiss to Remember (tbr)
Charming the Prince(tbr)

Personal Assets
The Sky is Everywhere (tbr)- I loved this emotional story.
Lady Pirate (new)- Lynsay Sands can really write humor well, and I love humor in my romance. This one is fun.
The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson Lady Pirate by Lynsay Sands

Defender
Fangirl (tbr)- 445 pages. I love everything Rainbow Rowell writes. This one is sweet and so good.
Promises Linger (new)- 422 pages. Sexy Western Historical that I really enjoyed.

Midfielder
Rusty Nailed (tbr)- You enjoyed Wallbanger, how about reading the next one, which just came out? (a little inside info, it just may be our Group Buddy Read for July)
Why Earls Fall in Love (tbr)

All 3 of these titles have take-charge characters and I loved all of them-
Protecting What's His (tbr)
Pleasure and Purpose (new) - In this one the handmaidens are in charge.
Untouched (tbr)

Forward
10 Ways To Steal Your Lover (new)- I've recommended this one in past PIFM challenges with success. A fun, romantic story.
How to Misbehave (new) - I've also recommended this cute one - shy secretary and hunky construction guy.
Beauty Touched the Beast (new)- This Amazon freebie is short and really good. A beauty and the beast style story. I've recommended this one in the past and had the rest of the series recommended to me.

Both of these titles caught my eye because I loved them and was excited to see them on your tbr! They both made me smile and left me happy.
Play with Me
Hearts in Darkness

Referee
A Knight in Shining Armor (new) - A classic and the book that started my long string of historical reads.
The Little Prince (tbr)
Mackenzie's Mountain (tbr)- this feels like a classic. I enjoyed the whole series, but this first one stands out.

Jamie ~ Bad Boy Inspector (jamie_badboyinspector) | 35 comments Picks for Bethany. I hope you can find something you like :)

Goal Keeper: Goalkeeper's main role is to stop the other team from scoring. They also don't (usually) move from their penalty area.
1. The Mane Event (TBR) - One of my favorite authors
The Gamble (NEW) - LOVE anything written by Kristen Ashley

2. Stray (NEW) - Colorful cover and a series that quick became one of my favs.
Until There Was You (TBR) - Pretty and colorful

The Mane Event (Pride, #1) by Shelly Laurenston The Gamble (Colorado Mountain, #1) by Kristen Ashley Stray (Shifters, #1) by Rachel Vincent Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins

Defender: Defender's main responsibility is to support their team and prevent other teams from scoring a goal.
3. A Game of Thrones (TBR) - This book scares me it is so long.

A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin

Midfielder: Midfielders are the link between the defence and the forwards.
4. Sticks & Stones (TBR) - I have this series but haven't started it yet. I sounds soooo good.
Second Grave on the Left (TBR) - I love this series.

5. The Hunger Games (TBR) - A great dystopic/apocalytic book that I loved
Beyond Shame (NEW) - Post Apocalyptic Erotic Romance that I LOVED. Beware it is not for everyone because it is slightly gritty and unapologetic but that was what I loved about it.

Sticks & Stones (Cut & Run, #2) by Abigail Roux Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Beyond Shame (Beyond, #1) by Kit Rocha

Forward: Forwards mainly score goals or create a scoring opportunity
6. Rock Chick (NEW) - Recommended this series MANY times and they all seemed to love it.
Slave to Sensation (NEW) - One of my favorite PNR series and I recommend it to anyone who loves PNR with alot of success.

7. Storm Born (TBR) - I love this cover because I love a good kicka$$ heroine.
Tasting Cherry Blossoms (TBR) - How can you go wrong with 2 sexy men on the cover :)

Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh Storm Born (Dark Swan, #1) by Richelle Mead Tasting Cherry Blossoms (The Year of Hearts, #1) by Marie Medina

Referee: The often overlooked non-player. Referees often run more than the actual players and needs endurance.
8. Outlander (TBR) - I would consider this a classic and I need to read this also but the length is scary..lol
Fahrenheit 451 (NEW) - I am not much of a classics reader but this one sounds really good and is on a lot of Classics lists.

Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Nancy H | 1111 comments Hi Penney,
I am excited to pick for you this month since you did such a great job picking for me last month! If you don't see anything here you like, please let me know and I will pick some more - you have some great-looking choices on your PIFM shelf.

1.Go-to author/Comfort read: Since I see that you have read some Robyn Carr Virgin River books and since she is one of my favorite authors, I am picking Second Chance Pass (Virgin River, #5) by Robyn Carr for you.
Another favorite author of mine is Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series and the first one is One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich . (The romantic steaminess between Stephanie and Ranger and Morelli gets much, much better in later books in this series, just FYI)

2. Colorful Cover: Vanity, Vengeance And A Weekend In Vegas (A Sophie Katz Murder Mystery #6) by Kyra Davis - one of my favorite series!
Big Girl Panties by Stephanie Evanovich - great cover and a hoot to read
Irresistible (Buchanans, #2) by Susan Mallery - good colors and an irresistible-looking cupcake!

3. Longer books: Two from your PIFM shelf that look very good:
The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker - almost 500 p.
Sempre (Forever, #1) by J.M. Darhower - over 500 p.

4. Next in series Two more from series that you have started:
Letters To Gabriella (Glebe Point Cay, #2) by Patricia Paris and The Wrong Billionaire's Bed (Billionaire Boys Club, #3) by Jessica Clare

5. Nerdy/futuristic: I see that you have started the Eve Dallas/Roarke "Death" series by J.D.Robb (Nora Roberts), so I am recommending that you read the next one you haven't read yet in that series.
OR
Nerd in Shining Armor (Nerds, #1) by Vicki Lewis Thompson - a light and fun read

6. Successful recommendations:
Julia's Chocolates by Cathy Lamb - one of my all-time favorites that I have made all my friends read! (and they loved it, too.)
Can't Stand The Heat (Recipe for Love #1) by Louisa Edwards - the first in a series that I loved and that I frequently recommend

7. From your shelf that caught my eye:
Keegan's Lady by Catherine Anderson and The Dream Hunter by Laura Kinsale

8. Classics: Two romantic suspense 'classic' authors, one from your list and one that has been one of my favorites for a long time:
The India Fan by Victoria Holt by Victoria Holt
The Golden Unicorn by Phyllis A. Whitney by Phyllis Whitney (This is an older book so if you can't find it, any of Phyllis Whitney's earlier books would be great.)

And a 'regular' classic: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

Again, if you don't see anything you like, PLEASE let me know.
Happy reading!

Hi Fran , I have been looking forward to you choosing for me one day :)

I absolutely love your picks , I will probably read most of them except the m/m one coz I tried and didnt like the genre . And as for Play with me and a knight in shining armor , can they be read out of order in the series?

For now I will be starting with Rusty Nailed, why earls fall in love and protecting whats his first.

Im already listening to flowers from the storm , 10 chapters in , so would that be a problem?

Looking forward to a great reading month <3

Hi Karen!

You can definitely read those two out of order. They are stand-alones in a series. But feel free to substitute for the first in the series if you want to.

I'm so sorry, that was my mistake. I must have missed that you were already reading Flowers From the Storm. I will give you a new pick :)

A Game of Thrones (lol It is long as F*** but every1 seems to love it)
Second Grave on the Left
Beyond Shame

I vaguely recall discussing Fahrenheit 451 in an Existential class I took in high school, something about books being burned, does sound great I'll have to revisit that, and Outlander that's another one everyone seems to love.

~KarenH~ | 11328 comments Hi beppy!

I had fun going through your shelves – we have a lot in common, but you also had a lot of stuff I was unfamiliar with so I had to spend some time checking some of them out! =)

Here are your picks – there is at least one from your TBR in every category, most (but not all) from your preferred shelf, and a second pick for each that is new to you except for the categories that specify from your TBR.

Goal Keeper:
1. Simply Irresistible (TBR) – not from your preferred shelf, but one of my favorite books by a favorite author
The Collector (NEW) – The latest stand-alone title by Nora Roberts, I'll be reading this in July if you're interested in a buddy read.
2. Northern Star (TBR) – I don't know much about this one, but I do like Ethan Day, and it's definitely colorful!
When Beauty Tamed the BeastWhen Beauty Tamed the Beast (NEW) – This was just plain fun, the best of the series in my opinion.

Defender:
3. A Clash of Kings (TBR) – one of the longest books on your preferred shelf, and you gave the first book in the series 5 stars, maybe it's time to read the next one!
Lord of the Fading Lands (TBR) – I've heard such good things about this, someday I'm going to actually read it!

Midfielder:
4. The Art of Breathing (TBR) – I can't wait to dive into this one...another buddy read possibility!
Rusty Nailed (NEW) – You gave Wallbanger 5 stars, and today is release day for this one. It's also one of the possibilities for the group buddy read next month.
5. Angelfall (TBR) – I'm not much of a fan of dystopian/post-apocalyptic, but I've heard rave reviews about this one.
The Rosie Project (NEW) – I had this recommended to me two months in a row, and after reading it, it's become one of my favorites to recommend...just plain cute and fun!

Forward:
6. Zero at the Bone (TBR) – I had to fudge just a bit here since there's almost nothing on your preferred shelf that I've read. I've recommended this several times, but I'm not positive that it's been read based on my recommendation.
Hearts in Darkness (NEW) – One of my favorite “go to” recommendations, quite short, but packed with emotion.
7. Blue Notes (TBR) – I love this series...really need to get back to it!
The Physician (TBR) – I don't know what it was about this one that caught my eye since I don't generally read much set in medieval times, but for some reason I just kept going back to it...

Referee:
8. Ashes in the Wind (TBR) – Maybe not a classic of literature in general, but definitely a classic in the world of romance.
Dragonfly in Amber (NEW) – Since you gave Outlander 5 stars, I couldn't resist recommending the 2nd book in the series. The whole series has that enduring quality required for something to be considered a classic.

I hope you find something here that interests you – I was pretty tired when I was looking for your picks last night, so if I messed up and gave you something you've already read just let me know and I'll be happy to pick something different. Happy Reading!

Girl of Shadows by Deborah Challinor

4. The Iron Daughter (The Iron Fey, #2) by Julia Kagawa

5. Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver
