Is everyone excited to start reading for July? Tomorrow isn't far away now!!! I'm definitely keen :)

Thanks Brenda. Looking forward to starting although I'm still trying to finish my last book for June's challenge. I always struggle to complete a challenge these days, but it's still fun trying :)

I'm frantically reading a book that doesn't count towards any challenge in the hope I can start a challenge book tomorrow after work, but it's not looking likely!

this morning.
My first thoughts... Why has this sat on my TBR list for over two years??? Why didn't I start it sooner???

Done. Sorry about that. I was signing up late Friday night, Iowa (USA) time (I'm one of your group members that's only an Aussie wannabe, not the real thing :) and was just trying to come up with a quick list to see if it was feasible for me - didn't take the time to link them right away - but had planned to come back and do it. And now they're done - with a few changes of books already, having had time to consider in the light of day which ones I want to try to read this month :)

#1. On your TBR the longest : The Crossing of Ingo by Helen Dunmore ★★★
I can't remember when I read the rest of this series, but it was before this one was released (2008). I didn't even HAVE a TBR back then, I simply devoured every book I came across.
Finished my 2nd - #1 on TBR longest - Jack & Jill by James Patterson 4★s

I was prompted to buy this book after seeing a woman on the streetcar reading this. Looked up the title on line at work, it sounded so good that I just had to get a copy, so i ran to the bookstore right after work to purchase it. What happened to douse that fire? All i know is that when i dug this book out of one of my piles (6 yrs after i bought it), the pages had turned deep yellow & there are brown spots that definitely were not there when i bought it.
And because domestic noir was not a thing back then, i'm concerned that i may have read too many similar books since it was published and that this book may not have the punch it would have had, had i read it when it first came out.
Crossing my fingers that i can't guess the twist :)

I agree with you Vickie - I thoroughly enjoyed that book - but the writing was a bit ordinary :)
Finished my 4th - D of OLDEST - Hit and Run by Diane Hester 5★s

A brilliant book Anne! We all loved this one when it was new and we all (in here) seemed to read it. But a lot of us were disappointed by his second :) Happy reading!

Just finished Burial Rites, the breathtaking 2013 debut novel by gifted Aussie Author Hannah Kent. The depth of the characters, the intimacies of the life, the sweep of the Icelandic landscape = 5★ from me!
