Emy (emypt) | 5037 comments #411 Not done - valid edition.
#412 Investigating. Given that the record creator also set the format at Audible edition I'm correcting the remaining data to match that. The ISBN10 in the ISBN13 field would normally match to the correct 10/13 edition but in this case I think it's an error when creating an Audible edition.

No? Shouldn't they be deleted though? The only info is the scanlating site and we definitely shouldn't have links to it. These chapters were never published separately.

edit: nevermind, I forgot we can merge and then delete. I haven't had to delete something in so long that I forgot.

But, to be honest, I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at. I think that maybe this isn't something that should be on GR?

Hi,
My author profile is currently a mess, a lot of books are listed that are no longer available, or have been updated with new covers, I understand the need for your company to store accurate data but why does it have to be stored on my profile? Couldn't you simply supply the extra information if a reader requests it. As it is the extra data simply leaves a "data dump" which makes for a really confusing experience, both for the reader and the author. Imagine going into a physical bookshop and every edition of an author's works, going right back to the beginning of his/her career, is dumped on the shelves. (personally I wouldn't know what to buy)

I've noticed there are a lot of writers making the same request as me, does Goodreads intend doing something about this in the near future, it would be really great to hear that you're working on a solution that serves both your company and the writers who contribute in no small part to your continuing and well-deserved success.

Thanks

message 418: by Alex (new)

Alex | 2736 comments #430 I performed some basic maintenance on your profile. I combined editions of the same books, brought titles up to GR standard (series title in parenthesis after book title) and created your series. You should find that it is much better now.
However, Chike, this is not the thread for this request. As explained in the first post, it is for requesting the deletion of true duplicates.

For further help, please start a new thread in this folder.

Thanks Alex,
I appreciate the fast response and I'm sorry I posted my request in the wrong place (Lord knows, you've probably got enough on your plate), I haven't checked my profile yet but thanks for the help regardless.

#449 When there is no omnibus edition it should be merged into the first book of the series. Done.

message 437: by Sammm (new)

Sammm | 88 comments Hi there; while this isn't the "exact duplicates needing merging" situation, in the past, I've directly written to GR via the contact option, and they've told me if similar circumstances occur, this thread can handle it as well.

(My past request was the whole "Lunar Chronicles short stories that kept on being created with individual pages per story" fiasco, fyi)

Temporary work id# 55559849

This request is about something that has also happened quite a few times in the past, and is happening again. Short stories from The Dresden Files, the ones that have NOT been individually published, are being created with separate pages. Much like tLC shorts, those stories aren't supposed to have their own pages.

Please merge "Something Borrowed" and "Day off" into "Side Jobs: Stories From the Dresden Files," where the "audiobook" of those stories are included in.

Note: there are a few more individual pages fitting the description, but they aren't shorts included in Side Jobs; not sure how to proceed but I figured it's still worth noting.

Thanks!

I still have three merges refusing to go through. 440 is one of them. 439 also, but that duplicate now has a kobo-identifier?
Majority of the merges did work quite well yesterday.

Update: 440 is done now

message 445: by David (new)

David Raz (davidraz) | 12746 comments #439 was unidentified when I listed it. Since then, someone else added "ebook", so I now added a kobo-identifier. I don't really know what is the correct action.
