Sean is a man with needs—needs that a lot of women were ready and willing to fulfill. Yet, the only woman that he wants to fulfill them dumped him for another man. A man who’s a member of his MC and is someone he has to see every single day and twice on Sundays.
He’s bitter and angry. He’s definitely not in the right frame of mind when it comes to dealing with women. Which is unfortunate for his new partner, Naomi, a fresh-out-of-school and totally green paramedic.
---
Naomi’s got enough problems on her plate. A brother who’s self-destructive and doesn’t care who he takes down with him. A man who she’s in love with but who doesn’t love her. A job that she hates because it is a constant reminder of what she can’t have.
Desperate to distance herself from her problems, she runs, taking the first job in her field that she finds willing to take on someone with so little experience.
The last thing she needs is a perpetually pissed off partner, especially when he sets her blood on fire.
But life doesn’t ask how much you can handle when it dishes out challenges. It just keeps piling them on until you’ve bested them or you’ve buckled under them.
---
Sean really doesn’t want to like his new partner, Naomi. He just wants to be left alone to live his life however he damn well pleases and without complications.
Naomi doesn’t care what he wants, she can’t be anything but herself. It isn’t long before she’s breaking down his walls and making him feel again. She’s trying to pull him closer and he’s pushing her away.
It’s not long before Sean sees the error of his ways.
It’s too bad, though, that by the time he realizes she’s the one, Naomi’s already gone.
Lani Lynn Vale is married to the love of her life that she met in high school. She fell in love with him because he was wearing baseball pants. Ten years later they have three perfectly crazy children and a cat named Demon who likes to wake her up at ungodly times in the night. They live in the greatest state in the world, Texas. She writes contemporary and romantic suspense, and has a love for all things romance. You can find Lani in front of her computer writing away in her fictional characters world...that is until her husband and kids demand sustenance in the form of food and drink.
When the MCs spend the first 50 pages of the book talking about shit 💩 the book literally goes to shit for me. I spent those 50 pages trying not to throw up. The heroine had a colostomy bag and the first sex scene all I could think about was what if that bag explodes between them.? *gag* and *shudder*. 😖
And what every woman wants to hear from the man that she loves that he compares her to the clap. 😟
Anyway I'll take a break from Lani's books... Eh Who am I kidding? probably I'll be the first to buy the next release. 😄

I’m Only Here For The Beard is here and I keep getting more and more addicted to these Dixie Wardens Rejects MC, and to these monthly – how über fantastic is that? – Lani Lynn Vale’s delicious releases! It’s like a smoking hot bearded Christmas all year round!!! <3
Sean, aka Seanshine, we know from the previous Rejects installments, and all this bearded handsomeness, and Naomi we saw in most of the Kilgore Fire series (a felt so mad for the poor girl) finally said it was enough and decided a new beginning in a new place and new job was in order. She was just not counting on her new partner!
Sean and Naomi really are two peas in a pod, but for the less fortunate of reasons. They both have the WORST luck in all things romantic and heart related like. They really do…
Love didn’t agree with me. I always, and I do mean always, got burned.
So much so that coincidently, or because they both hit rock bottom, lol, they both have sworn of any kind of romantic relationship or involvement. The timing couldn’t have been worse though, since they did it exactly before meeting for the very first time. What they were not expecting was that instant and sizzling magnetism that surrounded them immediately.
And Naomi had the kind of face that drove men to start wars in the first place.
Having been burnt SO many times in the past made them fight these feelings like hell, and become wary of their bodies reactions towards one another. It sure was interesting to see!
She was everything that I looked for in a woman, and it literally baffled my mind that she had man trouble.
Ignoring their palpable pull, they formed a easy friendship and work partnership. I loved that! It was great to see them get to know each other better and simultaneously trying to fight and hide their true feelings. That is, until Sean decided enough was enough! LOL
I was done playing friends. I was done with my good intentions. I was also done fucking my life up.
I loved how fully aware the were of their own personal issues – consequence of their initial friendship – and most of them they had in common anyway. They never went in blind, or were caught of guard. They truly were kindred spirits!
“This isn’t a good idea,” I told him. “I’m the queen of bad ideas.” His grin was wicked. “If you’re the queen, I’m the king.”
And once they gave in, they finally understood why they had gone trough all the pain and heartbreak in the past. To be able to find and value one another. They realized their past love was indeed forgotten, that they had healed each other. The true silver lining!
I’d tried to give my heart away a few times, but no one seemed to want it. Now I know, though, that it was because all along it was meant for you.
Add to their true romantic awakening some suspense that gets us on the edge of our seats, because even after submitting to their feelings, they still had a big road ahead, which caused me to shed some tears, so be prepared, I was amazed with Sean’s strength and love for Naomi. I have to confess I was a bit turned off my some references to Ellen, his ex, so I can honestly say he made me forget those. He revealed to be the perfect utterly devoted – and still totally badass – Hero!
“You take my breath away,” I whispered fiercely to her. “You make me want to be a better man. A man who you can always count on to never let you falter.” Her head came up, and I realized who it was I was dealing with in a matter of seconds. My other half. The compliment to my soul.
Of course we had the rest of Lani Lynn Vale’s winning formula, adding to the already fantastic romance and suspense, of hilarious ROFL moments, and the Squatty Potty sure is something I won’t soon forget. LMAO
“This is a different concept at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’ll become like second nature,” I continued. “What used to take forty long minutes, with butt tingling numbness about halfway through, now is a quick in and out process that you won’t have one single complaint about. Satisfaction guaranteed!”
I’m Only Here for the Beard really was a kickass journey from start to finished. It was so good to get snippets of the previous couples as well as the future ones. ANd, OMG, Lani really is trying to kill us with Ghost’s POV teasers! Jessie and Elle can’t come fast enough so we get one step closer to Ghost’s!!! <3 <3 <3 <3
“There’s not a lot of room in here for pain, because you’ve filled it full with love.” I patted my chest, directly over my heart. “You fought off all my demons, and you replaced all my nightmares with hopes and dreams.”

No spoilers! Another fan book with Sean & Naomi, the mystery with ghost continues, more from future characters, can't wait for Jessie & Ellen's book next!
Ok so I have loved I mean LOVED everything I have read by Lani Lynn Vale. So I was extra excited to be able to read this book.
Now 3.5 stars is my rank and here is why. I liked the storyline but I did feel like it was rushed at the beginning and two that we are missing a few chunks of the story.
Because I loved Sean and how he treats Naomi is so freaking sweet. And the attraction was there this is where I feel like we got gipped a little. We went from them being co-workers to poof lovers. Even though in his pov he was trying to stay away from her, her pov she saw him as hunky but friends. So I didn’t understand that.
Her medical stuff and how she kinda cuts him out of her life really annoyed me. She doesn’t even talk to him I didn’t like that. She just doesn’t answer his calls or texts so when he does show up instead of talking it out. She just acts like nothing was wrong. I don’t know I thought he dissevered better than that.
The suspense/mystery aspect of the book was good I do wish they had kinda started from the beginning though. But that is just me.
Overall like I said I liked the story. I like how Lani Lynn gives us drama but not really unnecessary drama.
Loved the narration I am a fan of these two together they really make listening worth it.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*
Every time I read one of Lani Lynn Vale’s books I am guaranteed a few hours of escape into a world full of passion, drama, suspense, humor and love and I’m Only Here for the Beard is one of the best yet! Luckily Ms. Vale gives us at least one book a month or I would most definitely need rehab for LLV withdrawals.
I’m Only Here for the Beard is the much awaited story of Seanshine and Naomi, two people who have sworn off love because they continue to have their hearts ripped out by people they were in love with. Sean is trying to forget his heartbreak by working all the time, Naomi has literally moved away from the cause of her heartbreak and pain. They have both decided love is not in the cards for them when they are paired together as partners on Naomi’s new job and find an instant attraction that they try to ignore by just being friends until they can’t fight it anymore.
Sean, Sean, Sean…I’ve loved him since the first book and my heart broke for him when Ellen put him through what she did. NAOMI!!! My GOD, even though she doesn’t realize it, she is a strong woman, to move away from everyone not only when her heart was broken but when she had a serious medical issue going on, caused by one of the people who should never cause harm. She had so many insecurities and was keeping such a big secret from Sean, one that could affect their work. She’s been through so much and felt she was worthless which made her more than deserving of the attention, patience, affection, understanding and love Sean gave her. Naomi was perfect for Sean because all he’s ever wanted was someone to love and that loved him. Something from the past causes serious trouble for Sean and Naomi, trouble that broke my heart along with theirs.
The cherry on top of IOHFTB is we get a sneak peek at someone who Ms. Vale has been teasing us with, plus we see some of our favorite characters from previous books, a dog you can’t help but love and laugh at and introduced to the wonders of the squatty potty.
It’s been a week since I read I’m Only Here for the Beard and I still get goosebumps thinking about the love between Sean and Naomi and this amazing world Ms. Vale has created. I strongly suggest Ms. Vale’s books for anyone who loves romance, with a touch of suspense, humor, passion and small town romances!
The story follows the style already known of the author. He remains friends with the ex-girlfriend and is reluctant to admit his feelings for our heroine. He's had his heart broken so many times that he's scared. I've waited so long for the story of Naomi that I was a little disappointed. Our heroine was physically and mentally very broken and gradually she is falling in love with the hero. The interaction of the two is interesting because both are preserving their feelings and they take a while to admit that loved each other. As in the stories of author we have a crazy chasing Naomi for no apparent reason. At least we found out the reason at the end. Was a good read and I was curious about several characters that appear in the story. ------------------------
I have great expectations with the story about Naomi and I'm looking forward to it.
----------------
"I hadn’t had sex for a long time. At least two years, if not more."
Naomi has had enough of heartbreak, the man she has a huge crush on found is girl and it wasn't her. Deciding she needs a clean break and distance she leaves town and takes a job in a new town. Being paired with fellow EMT Sean is not so bad and she finds a connection with him but she is not willing to cross the line from co-workers to something more, even though the attraction builds every day.
Sean is sick of looking at the woeful looks he gets from his ex-girlfriend dumping him for another man in his MC. Now he has a new partner who he is attracted to and when he decides he wants to see where it goes and Naomi agrees, that is until sh disappears and Sean is left questioning her reasons for doing so.
Don't want to delve too much as to Naomi's disappearance it is an intriguing part of the plot. I loved this new couple, Naomi is a hoot and loved how she teases Sean. One of the best series out there.
I loved this series, though I'm going to admit that I read this series all right after another while on vacation so it will be hard to review them since it was all one big story to me since i couldn't review in between. I will say that I LOVE this series. I haven't found a series I have been his excited about in a long time. I couldn't put any of these books down and didn't want to finish. thinking that I have to wait for the next two books is so depressing. I can't recommend this series enough it was amazing. I connected with all these characters so much and I loved the heroes who were all possessive and didn't sleep around this this was their last day on earth. I loved all the heroines also. I can't wait for more and I will be looking into other books/series from this author.
Title: I'm Only Here For The Beard Author: Lani Lynn Vale
5+ smashing stars
I laughed. More times than i can remember. And there were tears when that happened. And i'll come right out and say it: i googled the squatty potty and laughed some more. Hell, my boyfriend would spend HOURS on the toilet just because he was busy doing his thing and would only get up because his legs were numb and couldn't feel his butt. So i KNOW Naomi's problems - i live it, every single day. So now i'm debating if i should be buying the squatty potty, but dammit! Lani Lynn Vale didn't tell us if it helped Sean shorten his time spent there! (ha!!!!)
4.5 sexy dreams
Alright, alright, all jokes aside, this is how MC Romances and series should be done. There are very few authors that i'll follow their entire MC series, and those do include GM Scherbert since its just got that something that keeps me coming back for more, and then i found out that there are only a few books left in the Dixie Warden Rejects series, and i could have sworn that my heart fell in my stomach in, well, sadness. I love these men. They're unconventional, dirty and oh so very likeable. I'm not a beard kind of woman, but for these men, i sure as heck will become one! Now, Naomi is hilarious. I love her attitude and i love how she's not afraid to put herself out there even after all that she's been through. Sean is the kind of man that you wish you had by your side no matter what. Together, they are amazing and i couldn't go through this book fast enough. So trust me when i say that i'm impatiently waiting for the next book, because this series... oh hell yes. Gimme. More!
This book didn't suffer from some of the pacing issues others have but it wasn't my favorite which is sad because I liked these characters so much! But there was some politicizing that just felt kinda of jarring and pulled you from the story ruining some very important scenes that followed pretty closely together. But over all I've been enjoying the series and I will continue.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
I'm Only Here for the Beard is the fourth book in Lani Lynn Vale's The Dixie Wardens Rejects MC series. It can be read as a standalone but all the characters in this series are interconnected so its just so much more fun to read the whole series. Plus they are amazing books you do not want to miss. This is Sean and Naomi story.
Sean and Naomi are both two people who have both had their heart broken and are tired of it. Is it really worth it to put yourself out there and be dumped, hurt and alone. Heartache is no fun and they are tired of putting up with it. Naomi so much so that after being hit by her drunk brother while driving his patrol car she is even more sure of her choice to pick up an move six hours away to Alabama. She needs a change and to get away from the man she has been in love with for a long time who married another woman and is starting a family. Sean for his part thought he found a woman to settle down with a couple of times and they cheated or dumped him. However the last girl, Ellen, he was with was in love with left him for Jessie James a member of MC club and a person he sees every day and twice on Sunday. He was done. Finished. No more relationships period. He and Naomi are both Paramedic's and end up being partnered together with Naomi being just certified and out of school. They both have a instant attraction to each other and both know better but a friendship starts to form. Will these two finally find their soulmates in each other?
I loved that this story was about two paramedics. It is something that I use to do before I couldn't work anymore and I loved it. Sean and Naomi are both amazing characters. Naomi is a strong independent woman who only wants to be loved. Which if everyone is honest that is all anyone wants. Sean is in a MC and his dad is the president. He values brotherhood and works his butt off for what he has got. When he loves he loves fiercely and he thinks that when he meets Naomi he could be meeting the one for him. You just have to read the story to see what happens. I will tell you there is a element of what is going on and whose doing it in this book that will keep you on your toes. I loved the entire thing from front to back.
I can not wait to see where Lani Lynn Vale takes us next in this series. I want to read Ghost and Jessie and Ellie's stories and I'm betting they have quiet the story to tell too. Lani Lynn Vale writes in such a way you leave every book feeling like you've made some friends you could invite over for a barbecue and just hang out for hours at a time. Do not miss this book or the others in this series. You will love them all and get to have a lot of fun while reading the books.
Just like with any other Lani Lynn Vale book I have read lately I absolutely devoured I’m Only Here For The Beard. I love the men she writes, I love the females, I love the quotes at the beginning of each chapter because they almost always have me giggling or snorting because so many would be something that I would think or say.
I think though I loved this one a bit more because Sean shows us a vulnerability that we don’t always see with some of our favorite alpha men. When you read I’m Only Here For The Beard you will see what I mean and I won’t spoil it for you but I think Sean may very well have a permanent place in my heart. Naomi she from the start was dealt a bad hand, I totally understood her need to move and I also was impressed by how she didn’t let her situation bring her down like so many people it would have. She proves that she is not only stronger than she thinks but that there is nothing to be ashamed off.
The relationship between Sean and Naomi was one that you couldn’t help but hope worked. They both deserved the happiness they could find in each other. Now it must be said, more than once I wanted to slap Sean silly and the same with Naomi but it was because I wanted their happiness and not their stubbornness that both seem to share at times.
I’m Only Here For The Beard reminds us that sometimes life throws things our way that we have no control over, it is how you deal with those circumstances is what matters. Love is a beautiful thing and when you have two characters who deserve to find happiness like Sean and Naomi did you can’t help but cheer them on and hope that they will get their HEA in the end. I’m Only Here For The Beard is another must read by Lani Lynn Vale and one I highly recommend!
I'm Only Here for the Beard is another good read from Lani Lynn Vale. I'm currently behind with her most recent releases over the last 12 months, she writes and releases them so quickly that I can't keep up!
The main 2 characters in this book, Sean and Naomi, are both nursing broken hearts.....both have had numerous failed relationships, so understandably are initially wary of feelings they both have for the other. The majority of this book is a fairly easy read - however this author doesn't shy away from exploring storylines in many of her books that have me cringing/feeling a little anxious at times, but the heavy moments usually don;t last for long. Overall, her books aren't heavy reads, and usually contain many funny moments as well. I love the quotes at the beginning of every chapter in these books, they are fun to read.
It was pretty obvious from early on in this book who the main instigator of the drama later on in the storyline was going to be, but regardless, I still enjoyed reading it. I loved the cranky dog in this story as well.
As a long-time, die-hard fan of Lani Lynn Vale’s work, her monthly releases are constant and consistent source of pleasure for me. Her writing style is one that speaks to me. Her quirky sense of humor is rooted in reality in such a way that those moments are ones the reader can envision happening in their life with their friends. Her books never let me down and never fail to amuse and entertain me. But more than that, Vale always manages to deliver a romance that is a perfect balance of pleasure, pain and passion. It’s an addiction for me, and I am completely, unabashedly hooked.
I’m Only Here For The Beard is the fourth book in Vale’s Dixie Warden Rejects series, a spin-off of her best-selling, fan favorite Heroes of the Dixie Wardens series. Vale has grown tremendously as an author since that series, branching out into somewhat darker themes, with sexier storylines. There has been a lot of experimentation in her writing since that series, and it all comes together in this series.
This book is Sean and Naomi’s story. Two souls unlucky in love, brought together professionally but unable to fight the passionate draw between them. I couldn’t help but root for them to find their way; they both wanted love but had been burned by it in the past. A little gun-shy, a bit tentatively, slowly they come together in a story that was explosive, magical and vibrant.
I absolutely adored this book. While technically a standalone, I highly recommend that the series be read in order for the best experience. This book kept me tapping my Kindle late into the night – I couldn’t get enough, I couldn’t read fast enough. Full of hope, humor and heat, I’m Only Here For The Beard is another fantastic story from an author who consistently turns them out. Five smooches from me! ~ Danielle Palumbo
I'm Only Here For The Beard Lani Lynn Vale 5 star series and reads
With the release of another great read to a great series we have Sean and Naomi. I'm trying to keep track of all the interlacing of these characters but it's hard!
Sean lost his love to a brother of the MC. Seeing them happy together kills him. Naomi only had eyes for PD but we know that was a lost cause. You do get to revisit him in this story.
Thrown together after an accident with Naomi's brother Sean knows his partner is hiding something. The thoughts he has about her .. they need to get out of his head because it only leads to being burned. A man who gives his heart to a woman more than once and gets its thrown back .. yeah he knows how this goes.
Naomi left needing a new place to call home. PD is married and happy to say the least. The beast of a man she works with is surly and rigid. Perfect match for a whole lot of non feeling.
This is a great read with characters who both have been through the wringer. Of course it can be read as a standalone but you should go back and pick up the others. Characters do appear from other series which again I encourage you to grab up through the summer for some good reading.
Love the book and the characters as always. Thank you for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
Sean and Naomi are both coming from a place where they feel rejected by the opposite sex. Then the end up working together and become friends. They are attracted to one another, but also afraid to try anything in the beginning due to past hurts in other relationships.
I have said this over and over, but I love that the men in the MC have no problem sharing what they want and how they feel. If they want a woman there is no beating around the bush, these men will let it be known. At least that has been my experience thus far.
This story has two strangers who become work colleagues and discover they have a lot in common, they've both been very unlucky in love. And they find them selves being drawn into a closeness neither of them anticipated.
Naomi's luck has really left her in the dumpster, she's given up on men, her secret love married someone else and her brother is a mess, he's destructive to himself and to others if they get in his way. She needs a new start and takes a hike, she starts a job in a position she has little experience but it's in her field of work. Sean hasn't time to be friendly to his new partner, he loves women, lots of them and they love him back, but it's just for fun. The one woman he did want decided she didn't want him, she wanted someone else and Sean has to see him every damn day as he's a member of his MC...it's a real bummer. Before he met Naomi, Sean had decided he's not going to get along with her, she is a babe and he can't get her into bed so what's the point. And the last thing Naomi needs is a surly partner, besides he's pretty hot and keeping him from noticing how he affects her is going to be hard enough. Naomi and Sean soon get to realize that even the best made out intentions don't always work out, and Naomi is a force even Sean can't ignore.
A sexy, sexy, sexy, novel. I loved Sean and his tender ways, and Naomi was a feisty firecracker who was determined to keep her man. A fantastic read, I loved it!
You know the adage “Nice guys finish last”? Well, in Lani Lynn Vale’s newest release, I’m Only Here for the Beard, she proves how true that statement is by providing back stories for both her hero and heroine that illustrate them being the consolation prize in every one of their past relationships.
For Sean, he couldn’t get a woman to stay; she always found someone else who she wanted to be with more, leaving Sean with nothing but memories and heartbreak; for Naomi, she’s never had a man who hasn’t cheated or found another woman to warm his bed
What it comes down to for both Sean and Naomi is that they fall in love too easily, putting their heart and soul into a relationship, without really thinking about the complications of handing someone their heart almost as soon as the relationship starts.
But as much as Sean and Naomi wearing their hearts on their sleeves causes them heartbreak, it also allows them to fight harder for what they want, and while they both are a bit more cautious when it comes to their developing feelings for one another, it’s clear that they’ll both be finishing first when it comes to each other as long as their stubbornness and shortsightedness doesn’t break what’s mending by being together.
Sean and Naomi’s story follows the components of storytelling that readers have come to expect from Lani Lynn Vale. A bit of drama, some steam, and a good dose of suspense help to advance the plot quickly and allow readers to hypothesize exactly how everything will play out and when it comes to the relationship of the hero and heroine, readers know that they’ll be forced to battle their own insecurities as well as some difficulties from outside sources, but as long as they hold on tight, their ride to happily ever after will come…it just might be one hell of a bumpy and emotional journey to get there.
I mean Im pretty sure I don't have to write this because anyone who's seen my book shelf knows Lani pretty much dominates it. Her story's are absolutely seamless and written to perfection or at least my kind of book perfect. It definitely pulls at the heart Strings. As per though this is the perfect balance of love, humour and heartbreak. Everything is so well blended, the Story most definitely isn't smooth sailing, they're journey isn't a straight road and they deal with gut wrenching blows along the way. But they deal with it together united and that ending though gives you all the happy feels. The side characters just make everything pull together. They bring heart to an already great story making it even more memorable. I love the subtle bombs Lani drops hinting towards future stories, giving you a peak of characters you so desperately long to know more about. Again she manages to incorporate this into the story without it being out of place.
I love her original writing style I love that her books make me laugh till I cry and cry my heart out because it's so damn emotional. Her characters are my favourite kind. Alpha hotties who dominate but also respect their women even with there caveman tendencies. Her heroines are fearless fiesty and a force to be reckoned with and I love that to.
This book rocks just like all her others but I'm totally biased because I have yet to read something I don't like from her.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, suspense, murder, secrets, and heartbreak.
Before reading this story please read the below books first Beard Mode (The Dixie Wardens Rejects MC #1) Fear the Beard (The Dixie Wardens Rejects MC #2) Son of a Beard (The Dixie Wardens Rejects MC #3)
This is Naomi and Sean’s story. Sean was with a woman but he knew after a while she wanted someone else. After the breakup, he still has to see those two people all the time. When he gets Naomi as his new partner he is determined to keep it just friends. After being injured by her self-destructive brother she moves and takes a job with a new partner. Sparks fly with these two. Now they are in the thick of a sort of relationship and not sure if it is the right thing to do. As they reveal the past and open up to each other they discover they have more in common. When she leaves him out of a life altering decision will it be the end of them? Or will they be able to work out their issues before danger comes for them?
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I'm Only Here for the Beard is book 4 of the Dixie Wardens Rejects series but it is a stand alone. You have met Sean in previous books, so it was about time he had his own! Sean is a genuinely nice guy. He isn't a man whore, he isn't looking to hit it and quit it, but he can't seem to find a woman who wants to stick around. Naomi recently uprooted her life and moved to Mooresville after her brother hit her with his car and the man she had a crush on married someone else. Yeah, these two are kind of sad sacks!
Naomi's character was instantly interesting to me because of what she was going through when the book starts. She had been hit by her brother in a drunk driving accident and was seriously injured. She had to have a colostomy bag! This type of issue is unheard of in romance novels (I mean, there is nothing sexy about a poo bag). I am so glad Vale created character who is going through this because its REAL. Sean was dealing with his own heart break when Naomi shows up in town and is assigned to be his new partner at work (they are EMTs).
The story lacks an overarching focus. There is the initial meet-cute, then a strange bike accident, then Naomi getting her surgery, then distance and anger between the two, then a murder, and then its over. I guess the general plot of the book is about how Sean and Naomi cope with the day to day life but the lack of focus sometimes made me feel disconnected.
I really liked Naomi. She is honest and realistic. When she makes a mistake, she owns up to it (even if it takes her a bit to recognize the mistake!). Sean was mostly likable but near the end I really struggled with some of his actions. I understood where he was coming from, but it was just not okay.
Overall, I'm Only Here for the Beard was enjoyable and light with enough suspense to keep me wanting to hear more. Lloyd and Taylor are excellent narrators and I continue to enjoy their storytelling!
POV: dual 1st Tears: no Trope: MC, coworkers Triggers: none Series/Standalone: stand alone within an interconnected series Cliffhanger: HEA:
Outlaw Ride by Sarah Hawthorne, Clutch by L. Wilder, Ignite by Drew Elyse...then you will probably like I'm Only Here for the Beard!

Brooding manchild. LLV write two types of heroes. Actual alpha heroes and brooding manchildren. This one was a brooding manchild.
So her brooding manchild heroes have this annoying tendency to disappear for days at a time or longer with no explanation to the heroine. Then the heroine without fail takes them back with no apology. So shock me. This time she had the heroine go several days without contacting the hero. She was having surgery. Their relationship was new. They were both traumatized by past relationships and she was insecure. So she didn't tell him. So the nurse at the hospital contacts him to pick her up after the surgery. Then he pouts like a big baby for WEEKS until the heroine apologizes and leaves for him acting like half the men in LLV books. I can't stand brooding heroes or pouting heroines. I'm an equal opportunity hater for passive aggressive behavior in my books. For what it's worth, he actually did apologize after she left him.
So, for those keeping score, it's totally fine for the brooding manchildren to disappear without explanation or apology but not for the women to act the same way. Nice double standard.
Also the business with the flag burning seemed contrived. It was unnecessary and served no purpose whatsoever. It was a truly bizarre addition to the book. I’m not sure what LLV was trying to accomplish with this scene but it fell flat.
I'm listening to this series in bits and pieces from the library as the audio books become available. I had to jump over two books because they are on hold. I've noticed with the author's other series that hints about future books are dropped into the narrative, making my OCD reader a bit antsy when skipping over. That said, once I start a series, I have to get through it before moving on. A dilemma. So, I moved forward, skipping those two books. Hopefully, I remember enough about the happenings in this book to put the pieces together. There are also references to the Hail Rasiers series in this book. I've got those books on hold as well. I'll be so totally confused by the time they're all listened to. Ah, well.
So, this book. Sean is one of the good guys. A paramedic, he's not a douche. Naomi, on the other hand? She needed to grow up and use her words. Still, they managed to overcome their situations, despite what seemed like a bit of contrived external conflict and suspense. I enjoy the two narrators and enjoyed the book overall.
I’m only here for the beard was a sweet story of two people wanting to fall in love but always choosing the wrong person. They take their time in establishing themselves as a couple having ups and downs with communication mostly. By the time they have established themselves as a couple drama and violence ensues and for a long while, although having guessed the culprit, still had no idea as to the villains motivation behind his attacks.
To begin with the story drags as we discover the process of how a person requiring a colostomy bag would deal with their day to day - at work, on a ride, what they should eat etc., it was a bit of a downer and I’m not sure I benefitted reading this information? It picks up a bit when she has an operation to reverse the procedure and the drama begins.
After reading so many books that cover a cast of characters that are mentioned, cross referenced etc I would request that LLV puts a chart together for future series! Anyway, I’m off to find another one to read.🙃

I'm Only Here for the Beard is the fourth book in The Dixie Wardens Rejects MC series, and it is Sean and Naomi's story.
What do you get when you place two people who drive each other mad into a close and stressful work environment? Chaos, I tell you, pure chaos. One minute, they are wanting to strangle each other, and the next, they are wanting to jump each other's bones!
Sean is nursing a broken heart, and the last thing he needs in his life is another woman, so, when the beautiful and voluptuous Naomi shows up to work as his new partner, he wants no part of it. Naomi is just out of paramedic school and is super ready to jump in and save some lives, but the last thing she wants is to work with a drop dead sexy man who carries a huge chip on his shoulders. As these two are forced to spend more and more time together, they slowly let their guards down and realize that the attraction they share is just too strong to deny. Just as things begin to gel between them, actions are taken and words are said that can't be taken back. Will these two just throw their hands up and quit, or will they decide to fight for what they have together?
Lani Lynn Vale is a super talented author! She knows how to craft a story that will draw you in from the very beginning and keep you glued to your kindle until the story's end! This is a super intense read that also contains the perfect amount of humor to balance the story out. Sean is your typical brooding alpha male who you just can't help but love, and Naomi is hilarious! If you are looking for your next great read, look no further!!
This isn't my favorite of the books so far but I did enjoy it. It too me a while to warm up to these two characters. I understand that they had both had their hearts broken numerous times so they were more guarded. Some decisions they made ticked me off but it all worked out in the end. I don't remember Naomi from PD's story - so I'm going to go back to it and read a bit. There were a few different story lines going on so that kept my interest up. You get invested in the characters and you care about what happens to them and theirs. I always love the pets that are included in the stories and I laughed at Sean's relationship with the rotty they inherited. The build up to Ghost's story is killing me and I know its not next so we'll see what happens in that situation (after all this build up I'm praying that it will be worth the wait - but - I'm sure it will as Ms. Vale never disappoints me). Another big plus are the little blurbs - quotes before each chapter - priceless!!!
You just can't help feeling sorry for both the main characters in this book, Sean and Naomi. Sean because he's a great guy that keeps getting crapped on by women. And Naomi because she keeps crapping on herself.....you'll understand that better when you read the book. These two hit it off right away and also hit it off with me, the reader, from the beginning of the book. This story had some great humor mixed in with a couple of characters you can't help but love. There was a couple parts that I wish the author would've spent a bit more time focusing on because one in particular was such a life altering event I felt it deserved a bit more "attention", if you will. But that's just my opinion.
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review and although it's short and sweet, I'm giving it a solid 4 stars

Sean is a man that has been through enough the woman he wanted didn't want him an not because he was doing her wrong but because she was in love with one of his brothers in the same MC (trust and believe there's a story behind that and I can't wait to see what it is). So of course he's leery when it comes to trusting women but his new partner somehow manages to break through that barrier. Naomi has had her own share of heartbreak especially after falling for someone who lumps her into to the friend zone, and being injured by her own brother she decides to start over somewhere new. She becomes Sean's new partner and both feel the attraction but friendship develops first and from there its a whirlwind that you will definitely enjoy I know I did. Another hit on your hands Lani thank you for another great story.
This was another really enjoyable book by Lani Lynn Vale. The featured couple, Sean and Naomi are great together. Sean was different. Most of the male characters are super sexy, confident. alpha male badasses and while he was definitely sexy and badass, he was kind of lacking in confidence department due to past relationships. But, I really liked him, compared to how I've felt about some of the characters in in the last few books. Also, for some reason I didn't realize his relationship to the club president until tjis book but I liked their relationship. Of course I loved Naomi, the female lead character to pieces. I almost always love the female characters in this author's books. As I've said before, I think she excels in writing them. She's tough and she's funny. She reminds me of some of the earlier female characters from this authors first series (and my favorite) Freebirds. There's the usual hot men, hot sex and brush with danger but I truly loved the characters in this book. I don't think anyone will be disappointed in this one.
