What a wonderful email, Alex! I have your books on my Kindle and I'm looking forward to reading them soon.

Ok, guys. I've never been an indecisive person, but I filled out an application for Radish fiction yesterday and Marcy Harris from Radish responded today to my application and said she was very intrigued with my pitch of my third book Traveling Salesman which I'm almost finished with and which will be part of a sci-fantasy/mixed genre trilogy. But she says she'd like me to send her an email attachment of a twenty page sample of my story. I'm wary of doing this because it's not published yet. And I still with all I've tried to research about Radish don't know much about them. Get this: ( I realized a few months ago, I already had a Radish fiction account with them for three years now, because I entered a writing contest once upon a time that they had going on, didn't win but kept the account and had forgotten about it.) How did you guys handle a situation like this with Radish fiction? Or any thoughts on those who are currently writing for Radish fiction?

It's tricky. I hate sending things out that aren't yet published. I sent them a whole manuscript of something already published. So I wasn't in the same situation. I still don't know much about them other than what's online. It seems ok. I haven't earned enough coins yet to see if they pay out promptly. I aim to get there in the next decade lol.

They say that they just want to learn more of my writing.

I published one book with them. They seem pretty straightforward. The site is hard to navigate- I think. unless you are one of the top writers- I think they have an active followings and are capable of great earnings. If your book is not popular- I think it can get lost in the genre.
A writer gets half of what collected and while three of the fake coins doesn't feel like a lot- someone told me it cost them almost 9 dollars to read my book.

Take a picture of the badge, so you can call yourself a 'Amazon Bestselling Author', and prove it if they question you. I've heard of a lot of authors doing that.

Me too. Internet services are still down so I can't do any work on magazine :-( but glad that I have at least spotty phone data to keep in touch lol

Is this old news? I just found out, via someone else, that Carole R. won the Readers' Favorite Silver Children's Educational Award for If you were Me and Lived in the Mayan Empire and I won the Bronze for ¡Hola! Let's Learn Spanish..I thought that you (or anyone) were notified directly if you won an award..I didn't dare look myself.

Amy my family didn't personally sustain any serious damage to our property, but the city streets and buildings did. Trees are still laying everywhere with downed power lines and flood water. People are fighting at the pump again and McDonald's Wendy's and other fast food places are making a killing because most grocery stores are closed and or have damage. Cell towers are haywire too and my internet and tv are down. Taking the time to actually read now lol.

I'm sorry Carole has too many awards for me to keep track lol well done whether it's new or old. :)

So I'm pretty clueless. Glad there's no major damage to your own places. Hope they can fix things quickly. Don't eat too many burgers lol

Ben wrote me and told me that I won a couple awards. They never notified me and I didn't know where Brit had entered the books. Congrats, Judy. You won a prize money too, I saw. That's great!!

I sent my 593 strong mailing list news of Radish Fiction and Missing Remnants yesterday. I had a lovely email back from a reader thanking me and saying she had downloaded the app and would take a look at the books.

I thought it was rather nice. Although I did say you could get a chapter for as little as 12p and I now can't find that written online. Maybe it was 12c. In any case 30p ish doesn't break many banks.

Ah thanks, that's where the 12 came from, c rather than p. I just bought a job lot of coins (182) for £19.99 and it'll cost me 32p or so per chapter. At the rate I read I'll probably retire before I need any more.

Only another 488 to go lol
Ahhhh, so it does. I swear that information wasn't there the first time I looked. I'm owed a whopping 51c. I had it in mind that you couldn't get paid until you'd earned 20 something. Turns out 500 coins is $20 if those figures are correct.

I really enjoyed starting a new series. It allowed me to stretch my wings a little.

Humbled with gratitude, I'm honored that my novel won 1st place for "Best Contemporary" in the 2017 Summer Indie Book Awards contest.

Thanks Alex. It was actually my worst release day yet in terms of preorders/sales. But that just seems par for the course these days. It's all just miserable.

And thank you! I'll post a blog post tomorrow if you want to reblog that?
I've gone through my grieving period and accepted that this writing thing will never be a success. I'm going to enjoy it until the end of the year when my money runs out, and then give it all up and get a crappy office job or whatever. It's the only thing I can do.

I don't know. I can't imagine continuing to write after this. I'm too devastated. And I don't want to keep writing if no one will read it. There's just no point to it unless I'm sharing it. And sadly the...11 people who preordered my book aren't enough.

I have a crappy office job, and am a caretaker for a physically ill person, and run my son's publicity, and I still write, Aislinn. There are 24 hours in the day- use them carefully and you can achieve so much.

Aislinn, congrats on your new book! I agree with Carole and Alex. I have a job (part time right now because of my kids), am a youth leader, take care of my two toddlers, and write. Writing is my escape. If you enjoy writing, don't give it up completely. It may be one of the best ways for you to get a break from real life, especially if you have a crappy office job. Wishing you the best and hope things get better soon!

I can only dream of having 10 books published (as you have). But I'll go on dreaming and slowly, slowly the number of books published increases.
There's no need for me to give up and no need for you to give up, just keep the writing in its place, and sometimes that can mean fitting it in around more important things in life and the essential things.
Or just give yourself a holiday from writing and come back to it refreshed after 3 months or so.
You have achieved so much, don't put yourself down. Maybe you have made the world a better place for years to come.
