Getting To Know You!

Random stuff - the something good happened thread
Thanks guys - they sent me a publishing contract and everything. Very cool! Alex - I claimed a copy and it may take me to read - I'm not an ebook fan so my paper books tend to get my attention first - but when I'm done I'll review for sure.
So, I don't know whether some of you guys took pity on me after my moaning on the other thread, or what, but my sales are back to normal today. Hopefully the last couple of days were just an anomaly!
It's like that. Someone might have read one of your blog posts that had been laying in an email.
I like to think of everything we do having ripples. The further it spreads the wider the reach- all from one little pebble you threw out there.

Alex wrote: Thank you, I do believe you are the 20th person to claim a copy so *hands over virtual prize of your preference* Nope, I'm afraid I can't claim that prize. I downloaded it when you first posted the link! Some other hero is out there...
I love threads like this! I've also seen this in another group. I have nothing exciting to share...yet, but just wanted to say congrats to everyone who shared something awesome! I love seeing this kind of stuff:)
Finally. After a couple weeks of intense-head-down-at-work stuff, a glimmer appeared: The journal I'd submitted my essay to has come out! I don't care that it goes to a select audience, I feel all grand and publish-y.
It's a print journal and of course I have sequestered several copies, but I also re-posted it on my blog with permission (out of courtesy, as the print journal may not have reached all the mailboxes yet, not that I really expect any of the recipients to also read my blog).
If you'd like to read it, here is the no-obligation link: https://thehouseofbeck.com/books/rose...
Otherwise, I'm feeling slowly charged up again to get back into promoting and figuring out things and supporting others.
Well done Alex. Isn't it bloody ridiculous that in order to try to get something done about anxiety you have to do something that can bring on an attack. Well thought out procedure. I was chatting to someone who knows a mental health professional recently, apparently a lot of help is supplied by charities these days.
Yet if you were diabetic they wouldn't hesitate in prescribing you medication for the rest of your life. It is a nonsense. 26 years ago an hour of therapy cost me £25. I hate to think how much it costs now. I also couldn't bring myself to do the cheaper option of group therapy that they had on offer. The mere thought makes me shudder.
£500 WTF??? That's outrageous. Yes I agree, they won't help if you turn down their initial offer of help. I knew a hypnotherapist round here who charged £95 a session a few years ago. She was trained-I have no idea how in-depth the training was, but I was thinking maybe a psychologist might charge similar. A quick google claims a psychologist charge might be between £10-£60 depending on where you live.
A lot of the charity side will apparently do free or a donation of whatever you can afford. No idea if you have a limit of how many sessions. The thing is, someone has to fill in the mental health void. A GP was telling me recently that there's a gaping hole where help should be available.
It doesn't appear to have changed. It was 26 years ago when I tried to get some help out of them. If there have been any changes it's that charities are stepping in and since July 2009 you can't call yourself a psychologist unless you're accredited by the BPS (which means the one I saw might not have been qualified)
I know a lot of you have already done this many times, but I have finally pressed the publish button on a paperback version of Modified I've priced it at £6.99 it's about 193 pages of 6x9 after costs it gets me £1.53 or something in royalties, so I'm certainly not selling it for less that that at the moment. All I've got to do is wait for it to appear in the store so I can buy a copy and see what it looks like.

Congrats Amy, Becky and Erica! Those are all awesome things you have going! So there were a couple awesome things today! My preorder hit the top 100 hot new release list in literary romance on Amazon!!! Last I checked it was at #86 but still totally excited about that!!!
We reached our goal for our thunderclap!! So super excited! Last I checked we were at 102% want to thank everyone here who supported us in our effort to make our little campaign succeed! Thank you all!!!
@Alex, glad to hear you've made steps with the metal health, SUCKS about the cost. I hope whatever you find is helpful!@Amy, congrats on your paperback! That is very awesome. :) I haven't done that yet. I've only done ebooks.
@Erika, Yay!
@Ember. Congratulations! I'm way excited for you. WOOT WOOT.
Cheers for everyone and their Yays!
Straight in to the Smashwords Premium Catalogue again! Yay me. That takes some formatting. And it came back with no errors of any type.Following an update I have now been rewarded with the up to date copy of Modified on my phone. Whether or not they will enable an update to the two dozen other people that bought it, I can't say until this time next week. The update is only commas, a new cover and new back matter. It's not major readability issues, so they may not. I have asked.
And my other business may break even this week. That would be great as it's running at a loss this month following bailing out a colleague. I am too nice.
Woo hoo! I just noticed that I finally made a list! I'm currently #39 on the most followed list and #61 on the top reviewer list both for South Africa. Baby steps to building an empire! LOL
Well done Ruth. Alex wrote: "All in all, it sounds like things are going good for you, Amy, congrats. Glad to hear that, I hope it continues."
I've ticked some boxes this week. One of my clients for my other business said she'd buy the book, so you know, that's one more!
Yeah I know. It's the same with the slimming business. Took years to build that up and one recession to utterly destroy it.
lol. We all have those. Yes I've put 16 years of my life into it, it's still going, but at a much lower level than before and really doesn't make enough money to warrant the effort, but I keep it going for the slimmers I have at the moment. Some of them have been with me for years and are now with me for maintenance. Plodding on.(I made a paperback. I might have mentioned that once or twice. Yay)

Look on KDP Kindle Facebook page and look for a grandmother (not me- I'm much younger lol) with a boy on her lap reading. If you press the link above- just move down a bit and you'll see it. Thanks!!
Do you know what date it was posted? I'm being directed to the UK page @KindleDirectPublishingUK is that the right one? (I hate FB sometimes.)
Found it! Posted yesterday. Not sure why it didn't show up. Try this link https://m.facebook.com/KindleDirectPu...
How cool Carole!

I think it's FB up to their usual tricks. You don't get to see everything that's posted. How they figure out who is going to see what I don't know. Some things I post don't appear on timelines for almost a week despite people being active on FB.
Erica wrote: "Found it! Posted yesterday. Not sure why it didn't show up. Try this link https://m.facebook.com/KindleDirectPu......"Well done. I looked for ages and couldn't find it. Liked.
