Good luck! :)

I still think this one is the best but I have not read the newest one nor Ice Queen.

Yes, The Goddess Project by Bryan Wigmore would be perfect for a blue cover (although, we only have 8 colour cards and the blue ones are already covered). Sarah and I always double check the book covers and make sure they can be used.

You don't have to worry so much about exactly where the book should be used. Sarah and I make sure that we assign the books to give us the maximum amount of points (and we move books around when needed). All you have to do is to post in the thread what cards your books work for, like you have just done for your first two books :-)

Just a clarification about the character names and place/setting:

For character, they should play a significant part of the story (not just be a name someone mentioned in a comment).

If you have multiple characters with names starting with the same letter, you only have to list one (the main character).

For place/setting, each book can only have one main setting and it should be however it is referred to in the book.

So for example, I have a book set in Visby which is a town on the island Gotland in Sweden. The book could therefore be used for card 7 (letter V) but not for card 6 (letter S).

I previously read another book in the same series, and that book took place all over Gotland so therefore I couldn't use the place for a card (no card for letter G).

Does that make sense?

Feel free to ask as many questions as you need to get the rules sorted out :-)

Exactly! 2.5 for me. I think she got the "feel" of Poirot, but the mystery was too drawn out and ridiculously convoluted.

Yes, I still plan to read Fatherland. I just need to read Hände weg vom Quarterback in between for another challenge.

This should work at least for:
3: Title: Hände weg...
9: Ninth in series
Skip: Author: Poppy J. Anderson

And I will add the other cards later as I am not sure which characters played a part in this one :)

I will also try to read the Ice Queen to cover another reverse and it has been on my kindle for a while.

maria helena (mariahel) | 964 comments MARCH MINI CHALLENGE

This month, the mini challenge is all about our team books and authors. There are 4 ways to gain points as a team:

1. Read 5 books by an author of one of the team names for 15 points each
- Example: for Team Robert Langdon, we need to read a book by Dan Brown; for Team Kate Daniels, we need to read a book by Ilona Andrews
- Each of us can only read each author once, but it is ok if more than one team member read the same author

2. Read one book that is one of the team names for 30 points
- Note that where a team name is a series book, only book 1 of the series can count for this part

3. Scavenger hunt character names in books, 10 different names for 5 points each
- Read a book that has a character that shares the first name of one of the characters from any of the team names
- One name per book, and each name must be different

If we complete all tasks for part 1-3 (16 books), we will get a 15 point bonus!

4. Scrabble
- Create a word using the first and last letter of the team names
- Each word must be at least 4 letters long
- Read one book per letter of that word for 5 points per letter
- 4p bonus for completed words with 7 or more letters
- 2p bonus for completed words with 5-6 letters

Spell-it-out rules:
- Letter needs to be the first letter in the book title, author first name or surname, character name or nickname, or setting
- Articles (a/an/the) can be ignored in the book titles
- For this spell-it-out, you can also use the first letter in the series name
- Letters under spoiler
(view spoiler)

Other rules:
✣ Only books read March 15-31 will count for this challenge
✣ Books started before March 15 don't count for this mini challenge
✣ The countdown to the start of this mini challenge is here
✣ The usual book length requirement for UNO apply
✣ Books used for this mini challenge do not need to be separate books for what we are claiming for our UNO hands

The "T" in the Mai Tai is not enough of a T? Well....than...I migh read this one Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2 by John Tiffany . According to TinEye it should be yellow enough

#e6c552 26.4 % Cream Can (Yellow)
#cb8f2e 20.7 % Fuel Yellow (Yellow)
#ece496 14.4 % Khaki (Yellow)

....and as far as I understand the mini challenge it should work there as well right? And I might see it in London at the end of the month (if we get tickets.........) :)

I'm afraid not - as it's two words then Mai Tai would count for an M. :(

Cursed Child will certainly work though - and I'm more than a little envious of you getting to see it! I'll have my fingers crossed for you that you get tickets. ;)

Harry
Heathcliff
Hercule
Jack
Kate
Liesel
Mark
Mercy
Ove
Peeta
Rachel
Robert
Ron
Rose
Sybilla (or Billie)

Will
Yvaine

...and scrabble is over my head right now, so let's start with this :)

Tiefe Wunden (Bodenstein & Kirchhoff, #3) by Nele Neuhaus would be very useful for the scrabble part, so I think you should start with that one since you've been looking forward to it (and it was so, so good!). I'm sure between the rest of us we can cover the 6 books needed for part 1 and 2!
