3/18/17 New series
3/27/17 New author, new series
Finished my 1st - it is adult.
It was a great way to start the new year I was very enthralled the the diverse amount of thoughts and emotions it evoked in me, Definitely 4.5 for me.
Finished my first
for new author. Since its written by two new to me authors can I count it twice? :-P Updated post #6.
Quick question, How does the new series work? The first book in the series counts or all the books in the series count?

I loved the Reckoners series and I've been wanting to read more Sanderson. Whats your favourites Diane?
Amy wrote: "Quick question, How does the new series work? The first book in the series counts or all the books in the series count?"Great question! I'm inclined to say just the first book, since the whole idea of the challenge is to read MANY new things.
Oh really - bummer I will have to change my thinking in for a couple of books - I was hoping to start a series and do a couple of books from that new series.
Diane wrote: "Oh really - bummer I will have to change my thinking in for a couple of books - I was hoping to start a series and do a couple of books from that new series."I'm open to being swayed if enough of you disagree! What do the rest of you think? Should a few titles in a new series count? Or do we want each and every book that we read to be something "new"?

I have read the
series and
so far but I have others on Kindle waiting and my husband is the biggest Sanderson fan ever and has read everything to date. He keeps encouraging me to read more and more Sanderson - and I will in good time.

Personally I do not want to change your vision for what the challenge is. My reasons are selfish - I tend to really enjoy a series more when I can read books back to back ( yeah I am a binger in several aspects of my life) That being said there is no reason I cannot read a couple of books in a series and only count one toward the challenge.
Thanks Diane, I'll have a look at those two series. I personally like your version Gremlin. All new books makes sense. I think I was going to do the same as Diane if the rules were different but I'm happy with not changing them too.

I usually try to finish the challenge in a month (crazy, I know), and then I can finish up my series. Or if I have to wait for a book from the library, then I'm good.

The first quarter challenge runs from January 1st to March 31st.
The idea is SUPER SIMPLE because success is within reach when we take on small, achievable goals! Ready?
Read 6 books that are new to you! They should either be by an author you’ve never read before or in a series that you’ve never read before .
Bonus ROCKSTAR points to you if you reach outside of your regular genre or manage to read books that are brand new (released in the last 6 months). But those are just extra fun goals and are no way necessary for participation.
Rules breakdown:
♦ Audio books are allowed.
♦ All of the books MUST be at least 150 (paper) pages in order to qualify for this challenge. If the kindle or eBook pages are different than the paper count, please provide the correct number, so no books are left out unjustly. If you are reading an ebook only book, the word count MUST be a minimum of 45,000.
♦ 5 out of 6 of your books for this challenge must be YA. (If you want to keep going after your first round, though, all books from all age levels are accepted. What can I say, I'm feeling gracious. Small, achievable goals!).
I'll be keeping track of participant’s progress (as much as possible) in post #2. Participants will be listed alphabetically by their name and the number of their original post in the challenge.
When posting your progress, please remember to use the number attached to your original post as well. (This will be especially useful to save me from mixing up folks with similar names).
