Challenge 1 of 2017: New, New and New!

I am a comfort reader going back to the same authors and series . This is a great way for me to expand my horizons.
I think the "all new books" original idea is a good one to stick with. I wouldn't want to change it, and it's a good way for me to find a bunch of new series I will (hopefully) like and can read after the challenge is done.

I would say maybe 2 books from one series but not more than that.

I've only read a few steampunk books that I liked --
is one of them (as was Etiquette & Espionage). It has more clockwork and mechanical descriptions that are done really well, but less emphasis on dress and proper etiquette. Definitely worth checking out.

I just noticed
is $1.99 today on Amazon Kindle. It is the first in a really good series if you are looking for something to start.
Finished book #1 -
Wow that was good. I'm upset with myself for not realizing that there was a trilogy before this, but at least I'll have something to look forward to when this challenge is over.

This has been on my TBR list for years (literally), any good?

I have owned this book for at least a year and a half probably longer, and I just finally read it...
That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I really liked the main character Dru and found it to be a page-turner. I finished it in one setting, and just ordered the second book in the series.
I do recommend that you give it a whirl.

Finished my first 2.
Both new authors for me. They were both pretty quick and fun reads.
Updated post #33.

I'd recommend
for YA steampunk. I read it a couple years ago & it's not Victorian but it is steampunk. And I remember really liking it a lot! :D

I might actually finish this challenge!!!!!! After the failure of last year I think I might redeem myself.
Ok seeing the title of that book now I have this running through my head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uiYp...Thanks for the ear worm Grem :)

The cover actually has some foil treatment on it, too - so it's shiny!

I'm on my way, first book completed for this challenge.
not my usual type of YA read, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. #5 post updated.

I loved

Yes, I found the villain to be quite creepy. I think it depends on how affected you are by that sort of thing, though? I don't generally get frightened by book reading, but I was deliciously chilled by this one. Mileage may vary.

I'm happy to have offered a SNZ earworm! Yay!
(Fun fact - the section of my office that I work in refers to itself as "The Earworm" because we are all constantly getting songs stuck in each others head and/or there is always some snippet of a song being sung out loud to one another. I greatly enjoy my co-workers!)
How awesome, it sounds like you have a great work environment. I told my husband about having the SNZ earworm and we both were singing it and acting like fools :)
I finished my first book for the challenge! :) Updated my original post too.FINISHED: 1/6
(adult, new author/series)
Candice -
was scary, but mostly the last 1/4 of the book. I suggest reading the last few chapters during the day. It could have just been the mood I was in when I read it.
was not scary at all - but was very suspenseful.

That sounds like so much fun. I work as a line cook, & everyone (including my managers) are all inappropriate & familial with each other. It's like having a bunch of rowdy siblings (singing, silly one liners, dad jokes, sexually inappropriate comments, etc.) -- amazing! :D

How did you like
?"
started off exciting. I raced through the first 50 pages, and then it started to drag a bit. The story development was solid, it just seemed a bit repetitive. However, the ending picked up and left me wanting to read book 2. Overall, a good dystopian read.
