I love that series, but get annoyed by the stories that fall between the full-length books - they're too short! lol

Alice | 756 comments I finished A Killer in King's Cove A Killer in King's Cove (Lane Winslow #1) by Iona Whishaw . I will give it 3.3. It is beautifully written, the setting is lovely (rural British Columbia), interesting time period. I like books with strong characters and supporting characters. Our main character, Lane, I was thought was boring. None of the supporting cast did anything for me either. I have a friend who loves this series. I see the following books get good ratings. Maybe if a see the book for free I will pick it up. Overall just okay for me.

Alice | 756 comments I finished A Spy for the Redeemer A Spy for the Redeemer (Owen Archer, #7) by Candace Robb by Candace Robb. This series is very good if you like Historical mysteries set in medieval times. This book takes place in 1370 York and Wales. Our two main characters Lucie and Owen are apart for most of it in separate so I don't think book worked as well. Start with book one of this series.

Alice | 756 comments I finished The Alehouse Murders The Alehouse Murders (Templar Knight Mystery, #1) by Maureen Ash . It is set in 1200 England. It was pretty good. She blended Templar history and Englands history. The characters were a bit boring. 1200 is not the most exciting time period. Overall it was okay, don't think I need to read book 2 though.

message 1950: by Karen (new)

Karen (xkamx) | 580 comments On one of my readers I'm working my way through A.J. Harmon's First Class series... AGAIN! It's among series I return to when I think of particular scenes I want to read again and (most of the time) wind up reading the entire series again.

This series covers the loves of six of seven brothers from early forties down to mid twenties. The people are so "good" and all get HEAs after overcoming their women's misgivings and/or other obstacles. I've reread the first six so far--as if I have the time to waste rereading. I'll probably finish the last three (one next-gen story) over the weekend. Sweet stories of love and family.

My only real negative with the series is that we don't get the romance story of gay son Andrew and his partner Rory. They're already together in the first book, which centers on oldest brother Matt. It's not like they're overlooked. Andrew and Rory get married during Matt's story and we get updates on the couple as other stories are told (adopting children, etc.). Actually, the different couples and family members show up throughout the entire series in and out of each others' lives so we get updates on everyone from the matriarch and patriarch through their children (7 sons), in-laws, and grandchildren. The stories showcase familial love as well as the romantic. Sweet.
