He's a big, angry former Marine, and I'm going to be sore when he's done with me.

Hawk Travers is not a man to be trifled with. I learned that lesson in the hardest way possible, first with a painful, humiliating public spanking and then much more shamefully in private.

She came looking for trouble. She got a taste of my belt instead.

Bryce Myers pushed me too far and she ended up with her bottom welted. But as satisfying as it is to hear this feisty little reporter scream my name as I put her in her place, I get the feeling she isn't going to stop snooping around no matter how well-used and sore I leave her cute backside.

She's gotten herself in way over her head, but she's mine now, and I protect what's mine.

Publisher's Note: Hawk includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

Piper Stone is a new author to me, and I throughly enjoyed reading Hawk. The story is based around Jakes home coming after his brother’s death in a fire 🔥 A sassy reporter has her nose on the trail of a murder mystery concerning Jakes brother. Together their investigations lead them to the truth.

3.5 "On Fire" Stars

I enjoyed reading the first book in the Montana Bad Boys series and I'm quite tempted to read the next books as well. I liked the story-line and Piper Stone's writing style. Hawk and Bryce make a nice couple. My only "issue" with the book was that the ending felt rushed and maybe it's me (probably I've read way too many arson-related, thrillers so far...) but the events felt familiar, still I liked it.

I loved the part of the book with Jake as a former marine, dealing with memories, grief and an unknown future. While trying to come to grips with all of this, he also has to face the possibility his estranged brother was murdered. It made for a good story. I also did not have a problem with his control issues with Bryce, as that was part of his character. However, it was a bit much for him to discipline her within two minutes of meeting. No matter how the author tried to disguise it, between two people that did not know each other, verbal consent was not given and sexual assault is never okay.

What made the book three stars for me was the over the top bratty Bryce. Her instincts were good that something was going on with the fires, but her way of steam rolling over people and making unfounded assumptions without prior research was annoying.

I love it when an author releases a new book and I find out it's a new series. Yay, more books. Hawk is an awesome first story about 6 men who served together. He comes home to find out he has inherited his brothers home and is guardian of a niece. At first, I didn't like Bryce as she was sticking her nose into matters that didn't seem to concern her, but you know, she's a reporter! LOL Suddenly Hawk and Bryce are having to work together because of the danger around them. When it all comes to a head, shock will be felt in the town and lives will be changed. It was fun and interesting to see just how Bryce responded to Hawk's "taking control" when she got too feisty or put herself in danger! Yup, discipline!! I loved reading this story and I can't wait for the rest of the guys to get their stories told!

Bryce is a journalist looking for a story and Hawk is the man he wants her focus on submitting to him. This is a steamy fast-paced read with two strong characters and plenty of drama, suspense and twists and turns. The chemistry is intense and steamy and the story entertaining. I really liked it.

Oh these characters are fantastic. I want more from them. They have so much love for each other. My heart almost broke listening to this book. The amazing combination of Piper’s words and Thomas’s voice is a winner. I highly recommend.

Piper Stone has written a 5-star book. Bryce is working on a story about a bunch of fires that have taken a few firemen's lives and the life of a woman. Hawk was called while he was overseas and told that his brother Drake had been killed in a fire while working as a fireman. Now he is back in the states at the ranch his brother owned trying to comes to terms that his brother is gone. He is at the grocery store when he is confronted by Bryce, a reporter about his brother's death. He tells her to not bother him but Bryce continues. Hawk grabs her and puts her over his knee and spanks her there in the store. Later that night, Hawk hears something outside and he goes to the window and sees something moving towards the door. He waits by the door and catches Bryce as she breaks in. He asks her "what she thinks she is doing in his brother's house?" She tells him she is looking for information about the fires. Hawk tells her that he is going to spank her again and he does. After she tells him what she knows about the fires. She also tells him that she doesn't think that his brother's death was an accident. They end up working together on trying to find out what is going on with the fires. Bryce goes to a friend of hers to see if she can get information but she is told to let it go and stay away from the story. She gets a text message telling her to let it go and Hawk sees it and tells her that she is going to stay with him since he doesn't think she is safe by herself. When he wakes up the next morning Bryce is not with him and he goes looking for her but no one has seen her.
Will Hawk be able to find and save Bryce?
Will Bryce and Hawk get together to give Ashley the home she lost when her parents were killed?
This book will pull you in from the first page to the last page and I would recommend it to anyone.

⚖️⚖️ONE DELICIOUS WILD RIDE⚖️⚖️
Brilliant! Piper unleashes one hell of a storm with this explosive little number, revving this baby up full throttle and letting it roar, laying out this action packed, hard hitting, heart pounding, pulse racing, block buster, wrapping this gem up sleek, shiny and tight. A raging tempest of deadly events and vexing exigency, showcase the horrendous trials and arduous tribulations, stumbling through the murderous twists and dubious turns, putting our characters through their paces, testing them in ways they could have never anticipated. Traversing through a minefield of daring drama, underlying threats, heinous deeds, churning turmoil, damning accusations, terrifying abduction, intense situations, escalating intrigue, unnerving danger and spiraling suspense, maneuvering through the cunning manipulations of vicious iniquity and malicious intents, blasting this jewel to life spectacularly. Restrictions are heightened and exploited, exposing the harsh facts, deals and debacles, igniting a fierce determination with such intensity and exuberance, shifting this baby into overdrive, slamming it into a tailspin with an astonishing culmination. The raw magnetism, undeniable attraction and sizzling chemistry collides with such ardor, exposing deep emotions, drawing our characters closer, binding them to one another perfectly. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, add depth and diversity, transforming into formidable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions that feel as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Piper, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

If this is the standard that we can expect from this series by this talented author, then we are in for a real treat. There is a very good reason why i am a die hard fan of Ms Stone, she continually puts out stories that are raw, dirty, intense with strong males and feisty females.

I didn’t particularly warm to either Hawk or Bryce initially ,but as the story went on i came to understand the reasons behind their behavior.Hawk was a damaged soul with a painful past.Flashbacks haunted him.He returned home to find the person responsible for his brother’s untimely death.A brother he had been estranged from. When he comes up against a mouthy investigator reporter ,he makes it his mission to teach her a lesson.

Bryce’s first meeting with Hawk was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Her mouth sees her being publicly punished in a most embarrassing and painful way. When danger and mystery comes calling, they have to work together despite their differences.

The electricity sizzled between them, throwing off sparks everywhere.Hawk was a man of utter domination.A hulking mass of sexual appeal. He was all male in every sense of the word.Bryce could not resist but to challenge him.

“You don’t scare me,Hawk.” Oh, yeah,? he growled. Well i damn well should. I’m the
kind of monster living in your dreams.”

Hawk was on a mission, her submission was his goal.Bryce fought a good battle. She tough and mouthy, but was no match for his brand of discipline.Bryce was running on sheer emotions and she gradually ran out of steam.Hawk knew he had to take control and never hesitated in his quest.

Great concept, interesting story, complicated characters, full of mystery and danger, delicious sex and punishment scenes. The story is full of emotional turmoil and heat.

A good start to a new series. At least I'm hoping we will get books about the other men in Hawk's posse.

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Hawk or Bryce. They both start out as aggressive and angry. As they worked to solve the mystery of the arsons happening in town, I gradually got to see a softer side to each of them. I do mean that it was gradual, and by softer, I meant more like moving from concrete status to brick. Lol. At least I think brick is easier to chip away.

Hawk was very angry. I originally thought it had to do with his military service, it his anger started long before he joined. The reason for his anger was not obvious and took some time to piece together. Or maybe it just wasn't obvious to me.

Bryce was out of control. She had no real regard for herself or anyone else at the beginning. Then it became obvious that she was reacting by sheer emotion.

I thought there was a nice amount of suspense in this book. One thing I wished there had been more of was information about the suspects. With the exception of the fire chief, and a firefighter or two, there was no real info about the people in this town. It was hard to attach any kind of suspicion to any person in particular because I didn't know the people that loved there.

Hawk and Bryce had a connection. She continued to do stupid things to almost the very end. There was one really sweet scene between Hawk and Ashley before reaching the end of the book. There was also what I believe might have been the introduction of the next character in the posse, but I can't be 100% sure.

An entertaining read that kept me interested until the conclusion.

There is a whole lot of steaminess and suspense in this story!
This is my 11th book by Piper in less than a year, and I will keep looking for each new book as love her dark romance style of a strong woman who changes her man! Hawk’s return from the military to his home town after his brother’s death comes with a lot of revelations as to what his brother did with their ranch and his family, a life he never wanted. Bryce is a reporter hell bent on how Hawk’s brother died when she puts her microphone in front of Hawk’s face at a store. Let’s just say Hawk doesn’t take kindly to that and reprimands Bryce his way much to the chagrin of the onlookers. But when Bryce tries to enter his ranch house, Hawk takes his kind of punishment to a whole new level that satisfies them both. Yet Bryce’s continuing pushing for answers, has Hawk looking for his own as his instincts kick in to know there is something wrong. I love how Bryce has a way of reading Hawk that unsettles him and Hawk’s instincts to know when Bryce is in danger. Will Hawk find what his brother discovered in time? You have to read to find out and won’t put the book down until you turn the last page.

Oh boy….there is so much emotions that you will go through as you read this story. It’s definitely a roller coaster ride that is worth it through. Hawk and Bryce clash in the beginning and boy do sparks fly. Bryce is a reporter trying to uncover the truth of Hawk’s brothers death. If you love a book with a little spanking going on you will love this one. Hawk spanked Bryce the first time they met in person. It was in front of some of the residents of Hawk’s hometown. He believed he was going to go home back up and sort out his brother, Drake’s possessions and sell the ranch and go back to the contract that he and his friends had with the military. But Bryce told Hawk how she doesn’t believe his death was an accident. They both set out to find out the truth. I will let you read and find out what happened between Hawk and Bryce and what was the outcome of their investigation. There was a huge surprise waiting for Hawk. I highly recommend this book so you can find out what happens. You won’t regret it.

Hawk comes back haunted from his time in the military and his first encounter with Bryce is explosive. His take charge Dom attitude ratchets up the heat level in this book and when these two get together, the chemistry flaring between these two is intense. Bryce’s tenacity and snark gets her more than she bargained for when she takes on Hawk and Hawk soon learns that it is going to take some serious self-control in dealing with Bryce. With the danger mounting as Bryce delves further into her investigation, Hawk keeps Bryce close and the fires burn into an inferno as their budding relationship builds into something so much deeper as they not only grow together but as a family with his niece. There are plenty of twists and turns with the mounting suspense and though the ending was a bit predictable, I did love the way the author pulled it all together for the HEA.

If you like books where the couple constantly seems to be at odds yet can’t keep their thoughts or bits to themselves, you’ll like this book. It is that steamy. Bryce has a problem with being mouthy and Hawk feels the need to take her to task over that - over his knee, over the sofa, etc. It’s enemies to lovers on steroids at the start.

Meanwhile, there is a story going on that has Bryce’s interest as an investigative journalist and Hawk’s interest as it has to do with his brother, Drake. There are some unexpected surprises revealed and circumstances that draw our couple together. It was this part of the book that kept me reading.

I personally found the exchanges between the couple over the top from the start. I wasn’t offended, I just felt there was too much of a combative attitude and too much uncontrollable libido for a couple of adults, one of whom was acting in a professional capacity and the other with a Marine’s self discipline. But that’s fiction - it doesn’t have to fit a mold.

The blurb does nothing to explain the depth and complexity of this novel. The hero, Hawk is a brute of a guy but he’s lovable. He meets a reporter, the heroine Bryce. She helps him uncover the truth about his brothers death in a fire.

Hawk comes home from the military. He is a marine and has lots of trauma. The entirety of the book focuses mainly on Hawk. His life, his story. Not so much the heroine. I liked that. That was refreshing. Usually books focus more on the heroine and when I say usually, I mean like 90% of the time lol

He also has some past family issues that he has to work through. Bryce seriously helps him work through it though! Like damn talk about being there for your man girl.

I like the low key no angst vibe of a Piper Stone romance. I like how deep she writes she connection of her characters.

I enjoyed this book, even though I initially didn’t like either of the lead characters at all. Jake, nickname Hawk, is a former Marine, dealing with a mountain of painful memories, complicated grief and a future he never imagined. On top of all that, he’s faced with the possibility that his brother was actually murdered. Bryce is a tenacious reporter sure that a story about arson and murder is simmering just beyond her ability to put all the pieces together. Driven by her own demons, willing to do just about anything in pursuit of the story and advancement of her career. The characters are interesting, so what was my problem with them?

Hawk publicly disciplines Bryce right over his knee within minutes of meeting her. They don’t know one another. There’s not even an illusion of consent. Some people among the crowd of onlookers vocalizing their approval of the behavior makes it even creepier. At that point it’s not a domestic discipline relationship, which would be fine. It’s technically assault. Bryce is so unlikable, even at the very beginning, that you don’t really care that much. She is so intently focused on her goals, she’ll run roughshod over anyone and everyone to achieve them. You may even think she deserves what she gets, but then you feel bad about also being creepy.

At this point you might be asking yourself, why did she give this book 4 stars then? Well, as you get to know the characters, you develop a much better understanding of why each of them acts and reacts in the way that they do. The plot moves quickly. The consensual passionate scenes are done well. There are some excellent twists and unexpected developments that I really enjoyed. The emotions in the book build and build to a crescendo that might make you need a tissue. There are some very good secondary characters. If you start this book and think shortly into it that it’s not what you expected, hang in there, because it’s really quite good.

I really struggled with this one. With the title Hawk: A rough romance, I went into it expecting some good kink. But I didn’t get what I was expecting. For me this one crossed the line. There is nothing sexy about abuse.

Seconds after meeting in the store, Hawk ripped Bryce’s skirt off her to publicly spank the hell out of her, during which he got totally turned on. Not only did no one help as Bryce was stripped of her clothing, and assaulted but several clapped. Who knew that being a journalist means you are fair game to be manhandled.

Hawk went on to beat her like 5 times in 2 days. He is described as 6’5 pure brawny muscle and having +150 lbs on her. But apparently he still needed to beat her with his belt, until his arm was too tired to continue but his cock was hard. After that lovely image, as she struggled to get away from him, he roughly grabbed her bruised bottom and said, “I want you. I will have you. And there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Other statements that made my skin crawl..

You’re responsible for this. Take your medicine like a good little girl.

He issued several brutal hits.

I’ve never wanted a woman this way. You aren’t leaving. Period.

As I was given the book for an honest review I continued on, when I normally would have called it quits. After the first few days of beat downs, the story got good. The mystery of what was going on was gripping and engaging. I even found Hawk to be likable.

I would have loved this book if not for the first few chapters of blatant physical and sexual abuse.

STORY:
I read book 5 in this series, Austin. I really liked it and wanted to read book 1. I found Hawk’s story to be ok. It started slow and kind of kept that same tempo for me. The premise of the story was good but just didn’t like the journey of it too much. Hawk was your typical military guy who is a grump and anti-social. He meets Bryce who is looking for a story to find out what happen to Hawk’s brother.

In the audio version for the book, the male had a southern accent which was good/ok for me. It was the female voice that annoyed me. I don’t feel she did it well, she spoke as if she was whispering.

CHEMISTRY:
The sexual chemistry, I had no complaints. Includes spanking and a dominant take control guy in the bedroom.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
Secondary characters were interesting. Hawk’s military buddies or teammates and the corrupted bad guys.

OVERALL, it was slow and ok. It was not bad but definitely not great either.

✰✰TRIGGERS:

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.

I received this book via a promo code and this is my voluntary review.

This is my first audiobook narrated by Thomas Locklear and it will not be the last, the voice acting here was fantastic.

Thrust back into civilian life and impending fatherhood after he gains guardianship of a darling niece he didn't even know he had, Hawk is mourning the loss of his estranged brother, and contemplating the future of the family ranch. The big, scary former marine is none too pleased when a journalist starts snooping around into the events of a fire which led to his brothers death, the tenacious and infuriating Bryce Myers has caught more than just a story in this investigation, she's been on the receiving end of a harsh spanking from both Hawk's hand, and then his belt. She's gotten herself into more trouble than the attention of the rough rancher, as the threats start coming its clear shes gotten herself in way over her head, but Hawk has decided that her cute little backside is his now, and he protect what's his.

Very enjoyable, I liked this story.

Good start

I really did like the book..... However whoever does the proof reading for mistakes, needs to do a better job. Also, there is ALOT crammed into 1 chapter. I feel like that could have been spread out better. There is a point where she talks a tiny bit about her past, and how she was hurt once before , but it seems like she wasn't hurt that much because you don't have any information about said past. Basically what you get is her sister is a bitch and screwed her over by stealing her man.....no details. Its a great concept and the characters are amazing, it just could have been executed better. Spread out alot of the book. We have a huge amount of information, feelings, thoughts and actions happening all at once and it was so crammed together it didn't make sense . A ton of jumping around...like some one playing hot potato with emotions, thoughts, information and at one point Hawk sounded more like a teenage boy than a bad ass Marine. I am going to read the next book and finish the series because I want to see all the boys together again.

This is a fantastic, disciplinarian romance that can be read as a standalone & I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The plot is really suspenseful with some unexpected situations & flashbacks to past events. There are good scene descriptions & world building. The characters are interesting with their unique individuality & contrasting personalities.
There is: a domineering marine (Sergeant Jake Travis aka Hawk) comes to loggerheads with a feisty female investigative reporter (Bryce Myers) & is quite determined to teach her a lesson even though she is investigating his brother’s (Drake Travis) death, twists & turns, action, suspense, intrigue, drama, tragedy, threats, danger, arson, conspiracies, secrets, abduction, discipline, spankings, humiliation, suspicions, accusations, discovery, aggression, confrontations, contentment, playfulness, love, steamy scenes & a well-deserved satisfying conclusion. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy reading this genre.

Suspense read and full of action a great read
This is a fantastic read by author Piper Stone and it was filled with great characters and a great storyline that once you begin reading you will be unable to put the book down till you reach the end.
There was a good amount of discipline and romance in this book and the characters and the storyline was simply wonderful and as this is possibly the first book I can only look forward to new books in this series.

Jake Travis is a dominant male character and he is also known as Hawk and he is determined to teach Bryce Myers an investigator a lesson she will not forget in a hurry and sets about to take it out of her hide.

This is a aggressive read and is filled with action and surprise I thoroughly enjoyed the read.

I was prepared to not like Hawk based one his first meeting with Bryce. I was wrong - I love him! He left home for the Marines, hating the ranch. When is brother dies in a fire, he heads back homed to become guardian to the niece her never knew about. Right after he arrives in town, he has a run-in with Bryce. She's smart, driven, and has a nose for both a news story and a line of bullshit. She's a brat who curses like a sailor. And she's gonna be his. Soon. She's certain that his brother's death was murder, as was his wife's death - both died in fires. Her search for the truth is going to get her in trouble. He plans to keep her corralled and out of trouble. Easier said than done. The story is action packed, but also has some hot and steamy scenes, and a spanking or two. The action kept me on the edge of my seat, and their humor kept me smiling.

This was an emotional read as Sergeant Jake Travers "Hawk" a Marine contractor had just finished a mission that involved several of his hometown buddies which one did not return from, when he got a call from state side. Hawk's brother, Drake had been killed in a fire, and Hawk needed to come home immediately to settle some business affairs. What Hawk found when he got home was a real mess. A reporter was after him for an interview, for what reason, he had not a clue. He had guardianship of a niece, he did not know he had. All he had was questions with no answers and a reporter that got under his skin way more than she should. He wanted to protect her and the way it was going she needed his protections as it looked like someone murder both his brother and sister-in-law. A story of love, mystery and intrigue that will keep you turning the pages far into the night.

It was ok

I chose this rating bc the book was ok. The storyline didn't really fit with the sexy time. Almost like the author wrote the sexy times first and then built the story around them or vice versa. If the story was a clean one, it would have been amazing, and if it was all about the sex, it would have been really good too, but mix the two together? It was just ok.

I also didn't understand how their first intimate moment, where they were strangers, she was so comfortable with him treating her like he did. Don't get me wrong, I'm not kink shaming, I'm all for that type of kink, I just question the suddenness with no lead up to it. No time to build trust or anything like that.
Like I said before, it was ok, but not anything I would probably go out of my way to recommend to anyone.

Enjoyed the story. Hawk returns home when his brother dies to find he has inherited Drake’s estate and is appointed guardian to his niece Ashley. A reporter, Bryce is looking into suspicious fires and deaths and starts receiving warnings and then death threats if she doesn’t stop noising around. Working together, Bryce and Hawk investigate and later Hawk finds the hidden evidence needed for arrests to be made. It is an action packed story full of danger and romance. There is a lot going on in this story, including flashbacks that are incorporated into the story. This is a read that I would highly recommend.

Hawk has come home because his brother has died. He has just arrived in town and is accosted by Bryce, a TV reporter that wants information. She is obnoxious and Hawk puts her over his knee and spanks her. Now, this scene I had a problem with. He has just met her, they are in a public place, he lifts her skirt so that everyone can see her purple thong and starts spanking. I fully expected her to file a complaint, but nothing! Bryce and Hawk are explosive together. Hawk is angry at the world and Bryce wants to solve the mystery of the fires that have been started by an arsonist. They have a HEA at the end and solve the mystery, but not before Bryce finds herself in danger.

Hawk returns home upon his brothers death to find unexpected chaos and a feisty reporter.
When Hawk gets the news that his brother has died he returns home he stops at the local store to pick up a few thing and has a microphone stuffed in his face asking questions about Drake's death. Rumor has it that there has been a spat of fire started by an arsonist but that they have not been ruled as such. Hawk heads to his brothers ranch but later find the reporter Bryce. He spanks her bottom and they get closer but as they look they find things that make them suspicious. Bryce is receiving treats so Hawk asks her to stay with him. then hawk finds he has a niece he knew nothing about.

Hawk is the first book in Piper Stone’s Montana Bad Boys series. Here we meet two forceful main characters—Bryce Meyers and Jake (Hawk) Tanner. Will the arsonist be identified?

I enjoyed this romantic suspense story. This is the first book in a series and as such, we are introduced to a cast of secondary characters—the other members of the six-man team. I enjoyed the way Ms. Stone created her characters. They are multi-dimensional. She uses literary devices such as flash back, dual person point of view, and dialog to reveal their backstories. I enjoyed the dual point of view approach familiarizes readers with Bryce and Hawk’s past histories. Hawk’s flashbacks allow readers to witness how he deals with his demons. Her descriptive language paints vibrant and realistic scenes that helps with building suspense. Way to go, Ms. Stone!
