Veronica (readingonthefly) | 1631 comments Stayed up late last night finishing Blood on the Tracks Blood on the Tracks (Sydney Rose Parnell #1) by Barbara Nickless and I ended up really liking it. It's a new to me author and I went in with zero expectations...which may have been a good thing. I liked the female protagonist, an emotionally scarred veteran of Iraq who is now working as a railroad cop with her K9 partner, Clyde (also a veteran war dog). This book did a good job of depicting PTSD, at least the way that veterans have described it to me. I hope the author gets to write more.

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) | 2447 comments I finished listening to Purgatory Ridge by William Kent Krueger and I liked it even better the second book. I am glad I stuck with the series.

I am listening to Dead Right (book 9) Peter Robinson and while the subject matter is a bit difficult at times, I am enjoying it.

I finished reading A Perilous Undertaking (Book 2) Deanna Raybourn and it was SO good. Veronica and Stoker have such great chemistry as partners in solving crime. There were moments I was chuckling out loud.

I am reading Les Misérables with another group and we are reading a few chapters a week so will probably be done in May. I am enjoying it more than I thought I would.

I finished the three stories I committed to reading in Hot on Ice: A Hockey Romance Anthology by two of the authors with whom I have a history (Robin Covington & Christi Barth) and one by an author whose books I've on my shelf (Kimberly Kincaid). For short stories, they were really well done. All of them involve players from a fictional pro hockey team and some show up in other stories. This anthology was very well planned and organized. Here's my review.

I'm now reading You Can Count on Me by Roxanne St. Claire, Bullet Catchers #2.5, found in the anthology, I'll Be Home for Christmas.

Dawn I started listening to the Captain Lacy series by Jennifer Ashley this week. While they are Regency, they are much more on the mystery side than the romance side. Really different for this author in my experience. They are $2.99/ebook and $1.99 to add the audio on Amazon. Enjoying this series much more than I thought I would.
