The only thing Cindy had in mind when she started writing her first book was finishing it. The issue of actually selling it came much later. Only after she made that life-altering first sale did she realize that one book would never be enough. Now, over 20 books and numerous awards later, Cindy laughingly admits that she can barely remember life before...well, was there life before writing?

Actually, yes there was, and still is. A professional career woman, Cindy is a trainer for the Iowa Department of Human Services, a position she states is both challenging and rewarding. "Human Services is a front-line, real-life event. Everything about the job is immediate, from serving families in crisis, to assisting staff with difficult situations, to meeting tension-fraught deadlines."

Cindy's career has taught her much about the human condition, its frailties, its strengths, and its spirit. The evocative emotions that pour from the pages of her books are a reflection of some of her work experiences. Her writing celebrates life's richness and trials, offering a wide range of emotions — hope and elation, anger and indecision, laughter and, of course, love. And, according to her readers, her powerful love scenes run the gamut from steamy to tender to lusty to just plain fun.

Cindy's writing has netted her spots on bestseller lists, numerous RT nominations and awards, the Colorado Romance Writers Award of Excellence, a National Reader's Choice Award and two RITA nominations.

Between writing and working full time you wouldn't think Cindy would have much time for anything else. And while she does find her work and her writing rewarding, there does have to be more. Cindy has more. Much more. She is happily married to the perfect man. Tom's a cowboy, ladies!

Yes, even Iowa has its share of that saddle-straddling, Wrangler-wearing species who love their horses almost as much as they love their women. As a matter of fact, recently a whole herd of Texans gathered at the Gerard "Ranch" to treat their little ones to real horseback rides. Go figure.

Cindy has a passion for pink depression glass — she always has her eye out for the special piece to add to her collection. Cindy's down time often takes the form of the classic "busman's holiday." She loves to read and most of all, she loves to read at their summer place, a cabin in the woods on Lake Kabetogama in northern Minnesota.

Both Tom and Cindy enjoy gardening and have recently expanded their annual beds into a perennial garden. Cindy says she can hardly wait for spring and the promise of all that reawakening and the colorful blooms.

In addition to the horses, the Gerards have two dogs, Ellie and Boomer, who pretty much get anything they want. Tom and Cindy have one son, Kyle, who, after years of keeping them in suspense, found Eileen, the perfect woman.

Sam Lang's been tracking Fredrick Nader for a long time and believes he's minutes from capturing the head of a seriously corrupt international enterprise in Honduras when Nader delivers him a personal and tragic blow. Sam leaves Black Ops, Inc. and returns to his family home in Las Vegas. When he's given another opportunity to bring down Nader, Sam signs on and develops a relationship with unsuspecting Abbie Hughes, a casino dealer whose brother is the connection.

I have to admit that I put Sam in anti-hero status for awhile because of the lengths of his subterfuge. Abbie is a pretty special woman who reacted in all the right ways throughout the story and she ranks as one of my favorite heroines. Though she exhibited a lot of moxie and courage, she never crossed into that TSTL (too stupid to live) zone. Sam dug himself out of the hole he created rather admirably, though, and I loved how their relationship developed.

Be prepared for a really suspenseful ride as Nader is cagey and ruthless, taking no prisoners. Sam and the BOI have their hands full with this one and not much is predictable. I enjoyed everything about this story and especially liked that epilogue.

Sam Lang left his Black Ops Inc. team when his sister was murdered by Frederick Nader, a well known drug runner and criminal fighting for territory in Honduras. Not wanting to put another member of his family in danger, Sam returns to life at his ranch in Nevada. But it’s not long before he discovers there may be a way to take Nader out of the picture. The Black Ops team has uncovered a connection between Nader and Cory Hughes. Cory is a low level mule working for Nader's organization. The team believes Cory and his sister, Abbie Hughes, are smuggling drugs and jewels for Nader. Sam is willing to romance Abbie in hopes she can shed light on Nader's whereabouts.

This was a very entertaining romantic suspense story by Cindy Gerard. Sam believes that Abbie and her brother are the keys to getting his vengeance against Nader. Abbie is worried because she hasn't heard from her brother for several days and fears he has got himself embroiled in another mess. I liked this story and look forward to the next book in the series. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

I loved it and I just breezed right through it! I forgot how happy a good, romantic suspense by Cindy Gerard could make me feel. There was just enough steamy romance between the H/h to go along with the easy to follow, gripping, gem smuggling suspense plot taking place in the steamy Honduran backcountry. I enjoyed the relationship between the quiet, somewhat tortured hero, 35 year old former Black Ops, Inc. (a covert, private security team) hunk and now rancher Sam Lang, and the smart, brave, and loyal-to-a-fault heroine, 27 year old Las Vegas casino dealer/student Abbie Hughes. No rehashing of the plot here, other than to say it was a chance for Sam to deal with a long time thorn-in-his-side enemy (who really, really did him and his family wrong) while helping Abbie rescue her missing always-making-the-wrong-choices kid brother from this slimy terrorist bad guy. A nice amount of background info on the characters made me feel as if I really knew them and knew their motivations for their actions, so there were no WTH? moments for me. I also enjoyed Sam's relationship and camaraderie with the other members of his Black Ops 'family' (Savage, Doc, Reed, and Mendoza) and Abbie's relationship with best friend Crystal, and can't wait to follow up on their individual stories.

Kudos to the author for making me fall hard for the character of Sam after he did something un-hero-like to the heroine to get info from her near the beginning of the story. I understand why he did it but I just didn't enjoy seeing the heroine (who was the kind of person you could imagine as being your friend) get hurt. And kudos to the character of Abbie for being a forgiving kind of person who doesn't whine or carry a grudge, otherwise she never would have had her hot, steamy moments in the Honduran waters with the apologetic, quiet-but-sexy Sam. Loved these two together!

After the tense but exciting conclusion, where Abbie, Sam, and his teammates take down the bad guys, I felt that the rest of the story was a bit rushed. I sure would have liked to read more of the relationship between Abbie and Sam that obviously developed between the time they got back from the mission and the time of the epilogue, but which was largely just summed up. A couple of pages of details would have been nice. But that's just a minor complaint, because I sure did enjoy the epilogue where we got to revisit the characters of Gabe and Jenna from Show No Mercy as well as watch Sam and his 'family' (Doc, Savage, Reed, and Mendoza) get together again.

All in all a great romantic suspense served up with some exciting, action-hero moments, smart characters who you'll want to see fall in love with each other, and a nice HEA wrapped up in a fitting epilogue. I couldn't ask for much more. 4 1/2 stars

Opening Line: 'A gecko, low slung, forked feet flying, skittered across the sill of an open window, hauling ass as if it actually had somewhere to go."

I'm loving this series! TAKE NO PRISONERS is another WOW read from Cindy Gerard’s fantastic Black-Ops BOI’s. This cleverly written story starts off with a bang and just keeps on going. Filled with action and suspense a-plenty Gerard whisks the reader to exotic locations filled with car chases, shootouts and several wicked bad guys all trying to out smart each other over a damn big diamond. Somehow our couple still manages to get in some passionate yet tender love scenes and with a whole team of interesting secondary characters this is everything you want in romantic suspense.

Ever since her divorce and a few subsequent bad dates Abbie Hughes no longer trusts men, besides between going to school, worrying about her wayward younger brother and working nights as a Vegas blackjack dealer who has the time? Her one vice would have to be her wild girlfriend Crystal but even she can’t persuade Abbie to let loose. All that changes the night Sam Lang sits down at one of her tables, On the outside he appears to be a shy rancher who just happens to look mighty fine in a pair of Wranglers but Sam Lang is much more.

Sam, a recently retired member of Black-Ops Inc is on a vengeful quest to find the international crime lord who murdered his sister. His leads have brought him to Abbie and her brother Cory who he suspects are involved in a lucrative gem smuggling business and working with Nader, the man responsible. To find Nader Sam is going to have to use Abbie however the more he gets to know her the less convinced he is that she’s involved and the harder its getting to fight the growing attraction between them. When Cory goes missing in Honduras Sam and Abbie are forced to work together to locate him and on Sam’s end obtain his ultimate goal, revenge. Together with the entire Black-Ops team they head into the Honduran backcountry using Abbie as the bait and with Sam now willing to lay down his life to protect her revenge may just have to wait.

I will admit that I didn’t fall for our hero Sam nearly as hard as I did for Gabe from book #1 Show No Mercy however as a whole this story is much tighter and could easily be read as a stand alone. I should also mention how much I’m loving the ending chapters in this series, Gerard doesn’t just tie the story together into a neat little happily-ever-after, she leaves you hanging until the very last minute then follows through providing us with a glimpse of our couples future and I love that. Here we also get an update on my boyfriend Gabe from the last book (he’s doing fine now thanks)

Why did I wait so long to read this? I loved the third book in this series (that I read out of order and first LOL) and I liked the first one. This lived up to my memory of how good this series is. Cindy Gerard does a great job of writing action and pacing it. And, yes Sam sufficiently made up for his major screw up and betrayal at the beginning...even when I had my doubts that he could do it :)

Yet another winner by Ms Gerard. I am beginning to think that no matter what book I read of hers I am gonna love it. CG is now on my automatic buy list and will wait anxiously for any new releases from her.

I do love reading about strong men but I also like the woman to be strong too. In my RS I like the women to be able to stand aside their men and not be whimpering little things who are likely to faint at the slightest drop of blood.

Sam, well what can I say about Sam only that he is one gorgeous and lovable man. I was a little upset with him when he first slept with Abbie as it was wrong and he knew it. The way that Ms Gerard portrayed Abbie's pain - it was amazing, I could almost feel that pain myself and it made me reach for the box of tissues. But of course Sam was truely attracted to her and fought that attraction but lost and it hurt him to think that she was guilty of drug running with her brother. I am glad that he finally believed that she wasn't capable of it and therefore couldn't be involved. Now Abbie, she was amazing and so strong and held it together enough to help rescue her brother and then get the bad guy.

I would have liked to see a bit more of the romance/relationship between Sam & Abbie and found that this book concentrated more on the action but I still enjoyed it none the less and would recommend to anyone who loves RS.

I am Looking forward to reading about Johnny next ☺

The Black Ops Inc. Series is a great, solid romantic-suspense series and Take No Prisoners has everything you want in a romantic-suspense book: hot hero; damsel in distress heroine; a situation that only the hero can resolve; and a hot off the pages, sexy romance.

Sam Lang has come home to the family ranch after his sister and brother-in-law are murdered to get Sam to back of his pursuit of a nasty drug lord. The BOI team know he is looking for revenge on his sister's murderer and bring him information to help him get it. To do that he must lie to Abbie Hughes, a dealer at a Vegas casino whose brother is mixed up with this drug lord, and find out what she knows about the bad guys. But she turns the tables on him in order to save her brother from the bad guys. There is lots of action, just the right amount of misunderstanding, and likeable characters. We also get the set up for the next book with Reed and Abbie's best friend.

I liked #2 in the Black Ops, Inc. series even better than the first book Show No Mercy. The love/hate relationship between Sam and Abbie, as well as the emotional storylines involving their siblings, totally drew me in.

Terrorist Fredrick Nader is a bad, bad man. To get back at BOI Sam Lang for pursuing him, Nader murders Sam's sister and brother-in-law. Devastated, Sam quits the elite private team to join his father and niece back on the ranch. But none of them can move on with life knowing the murderer Nader is still out there causing mayhem.

Abbie Hughes is a casino dealer who attends school part-time and cares for her ne'er-do-well younger brother Cory the rest of the time. She's still reeling from her divorce to a cheating husband.

Yeah, Abbie had regrets. She'd loved Don. She'd planned on making a life with him. She hadn't suspected that he'd had the fidelity of a tomcat and the integrity of a kleenex.

Abbie wants nothing to do with men at this point. Too bad Cory has unwittingly become involved with Nader's terrorist network down in Honduras, which brings Sam Lang to her doorstep. That's when complications begin. They have huge physical chemistry, but Sam thinks Abbie is involved with Nader, and has to investigate her involvement.

She turned then. Walked to her bedroom, shaking with rage and defeat and a hollow emptiness that took her back to her childhood. Her mother's indifference, her father's hard hand, and later, Don's infidelity--all paled in comparison to the pain Sam Lang had administered with lazy kisses, a gentle caress, and an implied promise that he'd never intended to keep.

Yikes. Is there any way for Sam to regain Abbie's trust after that clusterf**k? Read it and find out!

There are some great secondary characters, like Abbie's friend Crystal...

"Go forth and multiple orgasm," Crystal ordered.
"Orgasm is not a verb," Abbie had pointed out with a laugh.
"Oh, sweetie, it is if it's done right."

...and Sam's handsome teammate Johnny Duane Reed, who Crystal refers to as the "gay cowboy".

Sam interrupted Reed's monologue about some woman he'd just met. "She brushed you off like a piece of white dog hair on a black dress."

But the character who made me cry is Abbie's brother Cory. He absorbed the brunt of his father's abuse and he shows the consequences in the poor choices he makes as an adult. Cory seems like a very realistic character, and Abbie's love for him is intense.

One question lingering at the end of the story is whether Sam plans to rejoin the BOIs. I like the intrigue, and I definitely intend on continuing the series.

New author for me. Man can I just say I love her! Wow, this book was wonderful. Fast paced and wonderfully intense. I started with this book even though its book #2. But I couldn't find #1. Hopefully soon.

This is about Sam who is a real likable character. For me he just felt real. His emotions with the loss that he felt and the confusion and love that he felt for Abbie.I love how he was instantly feeling guilty and then trying to push that aside. He was so wonderfully protective not only of Abbie but of his friends too. His buddies were so wonderful that I want the next book so bad. I love the side characters. Nothing like hot black ops men talking trash to each other. lol

Abbie, that poor girl went through hell and back. I mean gezz. My heart went out to her. Always trying to take care of and protect her little brother. Isn't that how it should be? Abbie's little brother Cory gets into some serious trouble and ends up dragging Abbie into it. I felt Abbie's pain for her brother and the betrayal she felt with Sam. Some of the scenes were so real for me. I could just picture them in my mind. Cindy Gerard is a wonderful story teller. The ending was just as I had hoped it would be. Look forward to the rest of the books.

5+ STARS

When it takes me less than 24 hour to read a full length novel with my kids at home for the duration - it shows how much i LOVE a book.

I made the mistake of starting this an hour before I wanted to go to bed. "Just a few chapters of the fabulous Cindy Gerard & I'll sleep peacefully" I told myself. EEEHHHhhhh WRONG.

One hour turned into three and I found it physically painful to put this book down before finishing it.

Sam was yet another sex on a stick, Black Ops, die to sleep with, hunka hunka burnin love, that I fell into lust with straight away. A man of relatively few words - but boy did those words count.

*sigh*

He was dreamy. If only men like that really existed. I would claw, scratch & bite my way through any woman that got in my way.

Abbie was also another one of Cindy Gerard's perfect heroines, that deserved the attention of such a great man. She was strong, loyal and a joy to fall in love with.

Their story was action packed, not only in the bullets and bad guys department, but also between the sheets.

TOTALLY. YUMMILIFIC.

Cindy also has the best ability of making you NEED to read the next book in the series straight away.

I am trying to savor these books gawd damn it - but I can't help devouring!!!

Abbie and Sam.

Have to admit, I was not feeling Sam. I sympathized with him at the beginning, then I began to dislike him. Slowly, he began to grow on me. He started to redeem himself. Abbie was a wonderful heroine. Her responses to the danger seemed plausible.

Of course the action and suspense were candy for me. Cindy writes action very well. She’s good with the build up and writing the ‘in the moment’ sections. Sometime authors will build up a scene and it’s a complete let down. Not Cindy! Her action scenes are good!

Rating: 3.5 / 5

I'm giving this one 3.5 stars because thought I liked it, there were two things that knocked down my enjoyment level. They weren't major things, but enough to bug me a little.

Series Note:
Probably best to read this series in order, though this one is a little less dependent on previous books than some of the others.

Summary:
Sam Lang loved his life as an operative for Black Ops, Inc...then a man Sam was trying to bring down turned the tables and murdered Sam's sister and brother-in-law. Sam quit and returned home to his family's ranch, determined to never put them in danger again. But the lure to bring his nemesis to justice keeps calling him and decides to take action.

His mission takes him to Abbie Hughes, who he believes is in league with Nader (his nemesis). Sam insinuates himself into her life...only to find himself hopelessly attracted to her. But he needs to know what she knows about Nader. Which unfortunately, is zip, because Abbie isn't involved...but her brother is. When he's kidnapped by Nader, Abbie insists on going to Honduras to rescue him...and suckers Sam into helping out. As they trek across Honduras, the two must come to grips with the feelings and deceptions between them.

Review:
Right off the bat, this book started off on a bit of a wrong note for me. Not in the sense of something being written badly or illogically, but because it tripped one of my romance book pet peeves. I'm not a fan of "hidden identity" stories...where one character hides who they really are from the other, usually because they are investigating that person (or someone close to them). It bugs me, and to me, it's a big trust breaker in the romance department. And it's exactly what happens in the beginning of this book. Sam lies about who he is, seduces Abbie, then lies to her some more. Ugh. That kind of thing just annoys me. Which translates to the beginning of this book annoying me. Luckily, Sam makes up for it later in the book so I can sort of look past the lying.

The other thing that bugged me a little about this book was the feeling of sameness compared to the other books in the series. The stories all sort of have the same type of plot and I was hoping for something a little different this time, but it was more of the same. Trekking around a foreign country in order to rescue someone from a very bad man. I just kinda felt like I'd read this story before. I wanted something more unique. I mean, it wasn't a huge deal, but it did annoy me some.

Despite those two things, I still did like this book. The cast of characters is great (Johnny Duane Reed is really growing on me), a solid romance, an action packed plot. Sam and Abbie's romance really rebounded after a rough start.

This book also really did a great job of setting up the romance of the next book, which will feature Johnny Duane Reed and Abbie's best friend Crystal. I'm very curious about those two and plan to move right on to that book.

I got through this quickly. I love these fast-paced stories and wish, somehow, it happened in erotic adventure-suspense books, too. I liked Sam and Abbie and yeah, the BOIs are great. I look forward to the next one about Reed though I'm not particularly thrilled about his 'barely-there mustache and barely-there beard. I hope he shaves it off for his book.

The plot was simple to follow - Sam wants Nader who has Cory, Abbie wants Cory who had the diamond necklace and the necklace is the tool they use in the end, even though it started the trouble in the first place. I thought the ending was neatly tied up and predictable but no complaints from me there. While I found the blank pages disruptive, they weren't fillers. The book is 363 pages, it would work out to about the same number as the average mass paperback.

Despite enjoying this latest in the Black Ops series, it's still forgettable as there isn't even any particular scene that's special. The romance is warm and sweet despite the initial feelings of guilt and betrayal, the sex is lukewarm and there isn't the type of sparkling wit or biting humor in the dialog that always earns points with me. It made me wish Gennita Low had new books coming out instead of being caught a publishing black hole. She's one romantic suspense author that knows how to create sparks between her H&Hs.

I'll be getting Reed's story even though the sneak peek at the back put me off. I hope those sleazy Asian characters aren't going to be around through the whole book. I found them icky and stereotypical.

Ok, now I'm really getting into this series. This one took off from page one and never stopped until the last page. I just loved Sam from the beginning. Abbie, who was quiet and demure, turned badass! Crystal her bff was hilarious. I am enjoying all the Brothers in this series and their missions. Off to read #3

Take No Prisoners
4 Stars

Former Black Ops Inc. operative, Sam Lang, will go to any lengths to avenge the death of his sister even if it means using an innocent woman to do so. Abby Hughes is wary of men and has no time for romance between working as a blackjack dealer, taking night classes, and looking out for her younger brother. Nevertheless, Sam is able to get past Abby's defenses but will his secret agenda ruin any chance they might have at a future.

Gerard once again delivers on the action and suspense, and the romance has its moments despite the hero's questionable behavior.

While Sam's motivations are understandable and his suspicions of Abby's activities are warranted under the circumstances, his deceitful manipulation of Abby and her feelings does not present him in a good light. It is particularly annoying that he .

Thankfully, the keeping secrets trope is kept to a minimum and the relationship improves once all is revealed. Abby is an appealing heroine, and the fact that she stands up to Sam and calls him on his actions makes her even more likable. It was fun watching her outsmart him a time or two.

The inclusion of the other BOIs (cute acronym) in the storyline is entertaining and the connection between Johnny Duane Reed and Abby's friend Crystal Debrowski has a great deal of potential. Looking forward to their book next.

Enjoyable read but lacked emotional punch. A couple of plot logic issues, but still fun.

STORY BRIEF:
Sam is part of a U.S. Black Ops group after bad guy Nader in Honduras. Nader arranges for a car bomb to kill Sam’s sister back in the States. Sam retires from the group in grief and now works with his dad on a horse ranch.

Abbie is a blackjack dealer in Las Vegas and a part-time college student. Her younger brother Cory has been buying Honduran knick-knacks and shipping them to Abbie to store for him. He plans to start a business selling them. Somehow he got roped in to carrying drugs for Nader. Cory wants to quit, but Nader won’t let him. Cory’s friend Derek stole a necklace from Nader (who had stolen it from a museum). Derek manages to give it to Cory before he dies. Cory goes into hiding, knowing Nader will think he is guilty and kill him.

The Black Ops group discovers that Abbie may be linked to Nader through Cory. Sam starts dating Abbie for the purpose of getting information. They sleep together. Then she discovers his true purpose and is furious, hurt, and hates him. Next she receives an email showing that Nader has been torturing Cory. Nader tells Abbie to bring him the necklace in return for Cory’s life. Sam and Abbie go to Honduras with the Black Ops group.

REVIEWER’S OPINION:
I’m pleased. This did not use the overused devices of conflict caused by heroine stupidity and conflict between the couple based on vague communication and inaccurate assumptions. I could enjoy the story. However, I had issues with a couple of things in Spoilers below. This is typical Black Ops romantic suspense. I feel like I’ve read the story many times before. And that’s ok if that’s your mood, but it could have used some surprise and the unexpected. The characters and relationship development also were like others I’ve read before - ok, but nothing unusual or different. The sex scenes were fine.

I compliment the author on the conflicts between Sam and Abbie in the beginning. I enjoyed watching Sam dating her “undercover.” I also enjoyed the way she arranged things later to force Sam to help her. That was smart.

I loved M. Junkins’ comment in her Amazon review. “It wasn’t the best book I’ve read but it beats whats on TV.” Yes!

DATA:
Story length: 363 pages. Swearing language: strong, including religious swear words. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: 5. Estimated number of sex scene pages: 37. Setting: current day Honduras, Nevada, and Virginia. Copyright: 2008. Genre: romantic suspense.

CAUTION SPOILERS:
In this type of story I expect the Black Ops guy to kill Nader the first chance he gets – maybe a sniper shot. I don’t expect him to act like a good ole’ U.S. cop and read someone their rights or bring them in for trial. Nader was into drugs, arms, and supporting terrorist enemies of the U.S. So why was Sam reluctant to kill Nader when he had the chance? All of a sudden he is not going to kill him in cold blood. He later shoots when Nader pulls a gun making it self-defense. This didn’t feel right to me. I thought Black Ops were guys who did NOT follow the rules. Killing Sam’s sister confused the issue. If that’s all Nader did, then I might see reason for hesitation. But Sam’s objective had been to stop the guy, which meant kill him. I suppose it’s possible the U.S. government wanted Nader alive, but that should have been made clear in order to justify Sam’s hesitation. But if so, I didn’t see any evidence that would put him and keep him in a U.S. jail. Ok, I’m going way too far with this. On balance, this was muddled for me.

Another scene was a little off. Sam has a gun on Nader and could easily kill him. But instead they talk until a distraction happens and Nader is able to get away. Ok, a little campy James Bondishness going on here.

Another great story with no downtime.

From the beginning of the series I knew that I'd love Sam's book. Actually, Sam and Doc. I love strong and quiet guys and Sam didn't disappoint. And for those of you who love Black Ops guys AND cow-boys, Sam is definitely your guy. That's right, he is both *le sigh*.

I really love how the BOI interact with each others but Sam and Johnny Duane Reed have an even more special relationship. In addition to being stuck at the hip, Sam seems able to catalyse Reed's hothead energy like no one else.

I also liked Abbie a lot. She is a caring, loving, faithful and strong sister/friend. I really enjoyed that even knowing she was out of her depth, she managed to turn the tables on both the BOI and the villain.

It's a good story, filled with action, and the characters' development was good too! Heard it through audible, and JF Harding is such a great narrator. I loved it.

Falling for the woman you’re investigating can really weigh on you.

Sam Lang left Black Ops, Inc. when the unthinkable happened. Sam was getting too close to Fredrick Nader and his operation. He was determined to stop the cold, maniacal SOB. But Nader got to him first. Planting a bomb in Sam’s sister’s car, blowing up her and her husband, leaving their daughter behind, was Nader’s warning to Sam: Cease and desist, or more will follow.

Sam is now running his father’s ranch outside Las Vegas, taking care of his niece and his parents, determined that he won‘t be the cause of another heartache. But his team receives a hot tip: Cody Hughes is one of Nader’s mules. If they can find Cody, they just might be able to bring Nader down once and for all. When Cody can’t be found in Vegas, Sam seeks out Cody’s sister, Abbie. She‘s a student and a dealer at a casino‘s blackjack table. She must be involved with Nader: the house, the new car, the new furniture, the big diamond pendant… As a student and a dealer, she couldn’t possible afford all of this.

When Abbie meets Sam at her blackjack table, her friend Crystal’s words float through her mind. Having been burned by a now ex-husband, she doesn’t trust men, but there’s something about Sam that has her wanting to take a chance. After a week of Sam’s courting, and a fantastic time in the bedroom, she wakes up to Sam and his team, going through Cody’s boxes in her garage. Stung once again by a man, Abbie is confronted by Sam. Give over Fredrick Nader. But Abbie has no idea what they’re talking about. And when Cody goes missing, fright comes to the forefront. And after the message she receives, Abbie’s determined to fly to Honduras to save her brother, who ended up in way over his head. With or without Sam’s help.

And for Sam, Lord help him, he’s falling for a woman he shouldn’t want.

** Excellent second book in the series! The author brings out emotions in her readers like no one’s business. You can feel Abbie’s hope, the hurt from the betrayal, her determination to get Cody out of the fix he was in.

The emotional war Sam ends up in brings out the Kleenex. He wants to protect what’s left of his family. But taking Nader down, plus payback for his sister and brother-in-law, is overpowering, and he’ll stop at nothing until Nader is caught or dead. Preferably dead. But Abbie’s getting under his skin. He doesn’t want to believe that she not involved in any of this, but as they traipse the Honduras backcountry, not only does he come to believe her, but he’s falling for her. But after his betrayal, how can he convince her to love him? Watching it unfold, is the sweetest thing ever. He finally does earn her trust, and it’s absolutely wonderful to see it all come together. Can’t wait to grab Whisper No Lies, Bk # 3, from my TBR pile.

I enjoyed reading this one--until it go to the ending...

First of all, looks like this book was too short. After each chapter were blank pages that were included in the page numbering. Secondly, there were some jarring scene transitions that could have been a result of over editing. Thirdly, there was very little romance or lovin' between the h/h. Lastly, the ending seemed thrown together and looked like filler CRAP to get a few more pages into the book. Ugh!

This was not as polished as I'm used to be this author. There were minor mistakes throughout the book and in the beginning seemed like a slightly different writing style, but then recognized phrases used by this author as the book progressed.

This one started out with a BANG. It was great! Then the ending was all flubbed up and that was a downer for me. The h/h needed more relationship time, resolution time, needed to have their romance and it just was not there.

The ending went on a tangent in another direction and the recap of an epilogue was filled with redundant information, i.e., filler. Soured the whole book!

3 1/2 (if I could) because of the ending.

I flew through this book, it felt as if i had just started reading and it was over? Of course that may be because i got absolutely nothing done before I was reading all day long!

In the beginning Sam really upset me, he was definitely on my sh*t list! But after some time he managed to redeem himself and I was once again swooning!! The murder of his sister drives him causes him to quit the BOI's and return to his family farm. However, circumstances present an opportunity to get the man who murdered his sister and he takes it. So he uses decides to use Abbie to help get his revenge.

I liked Abbie, she was tough and devoted to her brother. despite being used and scared she was determined to do whatever necessary to save her brother Cory. Lots of action, and once again the BOI's are back! And some hot steamy times between Sam and Abbie.....Loved this one.

I loved this one! Abbie and Sam were smokin' together, and there was some deep emotional involvement with regards to both of their families. I like that Jenna didn't seem to be all "I am woman, hear me roar." It's a little more believable when blood and guts actually phase someone. Maybe it's wrong, but I like a little vulnerability in a heroine, and I love it when the hero is all about protecting her. And once again, the rest of the guys were a major part of the storyline, and in this one, you really get to know them better. So excited to read Reed's story!

WOW... WOW... WOW...

It goes along the storyline of Girls likes Boy, Boy likes Girl.. Boy gets the Girl..

but with a whole lot of Guns, Bombs, Alpha Males, Secret Agency stuff and the dealings of the worlds underground crime system...

Every loves an Alpha Male, but an Army Alpha Male is just HOT!

I am LOVING this series! I just wish it was a little longer as it is a pretty quick read and the Steamy scenes were a bit juicer.. but as i said I loved it.

Sam and Abbie are great!
I can't wait to read Johnny Duane Reed and kickass Crystal's story next

Action- Packed...

I enjoyed reading this book as much as the first. If you like a little romance mixed in with a hot adventure, I recommend this book.
It was written so realistic and vivid it felt like watching a movie. I could just picture it all and see the bullets flying.
Cindy Gerard's extensive knowledge and/or research of South America, weapons and covert operations make her books rich in background and a true joy to read.

Ok, I'm loving this series! I can't put these books down! My only wish is that they were longer. I feel like there is so much happening and it's such a great story that it could be a little longer... And maybe just a smidge steamier :) but over all, it's going on my favorites list!

I liked this one. I got a little agitated with Abbie and her push pull with Sam. But I got that the feelings were just intense. I guess enough time wasn't spent exploring how those feelings got to be intense.

Looking forward to reading the next in this series.
