Jo Ann (jojog) | 61 comments The Kept Woman (Will Trent, #8) by Karin Slaughter I'm just finishing the Will Trent Series by Karin Slaughter - I'm at 75% and I'd have to say this is one of the best books in this stellar series. I am SO GLAD I persevered with Will Trent after the final book in the Grant County series. All that happened with Jeffrey (Grant County) was necessary - never thought I would say that!! I should have trusted the author - she knew where she wanted to take her characters and what needed to happen to get them there.

This is good news for me, Jo Ann. I'm looking at reading the Will Trent series next year, but was nervous because of the Jeffrey incident. Thank you!

Monica | 860 comments I have finished 2 audiobooks, and really enjoyed both.

Fire Touched (#9 Mercy Thompson) by Patricia Briggs. This was a good addition to the series, although not my favorite. I found myself a little bored/distracted at times. Although there were some terrific character developments that I've been waiting for for quite a while.

When Maidens Mourn (#7 Sebastian St. Cyr) by C.S. Harris. I really enjoyed this one, and loved the ending. I am also looking forward to seeing how a new character fits into Sebastian's life.

Monica | 860 comments I finished Blood of the Earth (Soulwood #1) by Faith Hunter. This was a hard one for me to get into. I read the ebook and wonder if I would have fared better with the audiobook. Fortunately, Hunter won me over with the Jane Yellowrock series, so I will continue Soulwood.

I also finished An Heiress for All Seasons (The Debutante Files #1.5) by Sophie Jordan. It was a satisfying novella.

I am now listening to What Darkness Brings (Sebastian St. Cyr #8) by C.S. Harris.

You are doing great in moving forward with some of these series.

You just reminded me that I need to get back to the Chicagoland Vampires. I think I quit because of the narrator and then never went back to even the actual books. I'm glad you're 11 in, and still enjoying it. That gives me hope.

The narrator changes with book 5 (thank goodness or I would have stopped listening) and Sophie Eastlake is a significant improvement over Cynthia Holloway.
