message 603: by Kimiko (new)

Kimiko | 90 comments I had picked up a recent Lt Decker/Rina Lazarus novel (By Faye Kellerman) then found out there are more than 20 of them, so I started over with Book 1. Just finished "Hangman" Book 19. Very good police procedurals. Additionally, I'm currently listening to a John Grisham "Sycamore Row" and I just recently discovered the FBI Huntress series by Alexandra Sokoloff. Really good reads in case anyone is interested in police procedurals with a twist. [PS--I like most of the Heather Graham novels too!]

message 604: by Ivy (new)

Ivy (luvbug) Currently reading Confessions of a Murder Suspect by James Patterson

So far it is interesting and definitely different from other James Patterson books I have read. It is written in the first person and so I am getting a different perspective then I am use to having.

Only 68 pages into the book so I will see how it goes the farther along I get.

message 610: by Georgia (new)

Georgia | 554 comments Halfway through Hold Tight by Harlan Coben . I was surprised at first as I didn't think I was going to like this book since I've loved everything by this author, but I decided to continue to my usual 50 - 75 page limit. By then I was really into it; however it does deal with some sensitive subjects: spying on your children and their uses of technology for one. (Published in 2008). There is another thread also of a serial killer!

message 611: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 10022 comments I finished Thrice the Brinded Cat Hath Mew'd Thrice the Brinded Cat Hath Mew'd (Flavia de Luce, #8) by Alan Bradley by Alan Bradley

In this 8th book in the series 12-year-old amateur detective Flavia de Luce finds the body of a dead wood-worker hanging upside down on his bedroom door, and (as usual) races Inspector Hewitt to solve the crime. Entertaining mystery. 3.5 stars

Jackie Ullerich | 8 comments Hi All, I'm currently reading The Twenty-Three by Linwood Barclay and loving it. This series has swept me away with the realistic characters and the bizarre situations the characters have been put in. I care about what happens and find myself completely hooked.
Anyone else reading this series?

The Twenty-Three

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 10022 comments I finished Due Justice Due Justice (Justice, #1) by Diane Capri by Diane Capri.

In this first book in the 'Judge Willa Carson' series, Willa investigates the murder of a plastic surgeon who specializes in breast implants. The plot revolves around the safety of the fake boobs....can silicone leakage make women sick? Okay mystery. 3 stars.

message 625: by Bill (new)

Bill I'm about to start Kittyhawk Down, the 2nd Inspector Challis mystery, by Garry Disher. I hope it's as enjoyable as the first one.

message 627: by Zoe (new)

Zoe Radley | 558 comments I am currently reading the Vatican princess by C W Gortner and really getting sucked in to the scandalous life of the Borgias and most especially the most infamous of them Lucrezia and I feel even though it is a novel it fleshes out and gives a more balanced look at her and what may (MAY) have been going on in her head through those times

message 628: by Anchita (new)

Anchita (autumn02) | 77 comments I recently finished 'Into the Water' by Paula Hawkins and it took me two days to process and analyse it. The plot of the book is convoluted. At some point it becomes hard to keep track of all the events and characters. Also there is no strong link in between the incidents of the plot. They seem to be jammed together. The only thing which holds this book up is it's characters. The characters of the book are beautifully written, their actions are well justified by human nature. The actions and emotions of the characters are relatable and natural. Also the book leaves many questions unanswered, literally many. Overall it's a 3/5 read. Not too great not too shabby.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 10022 comments I finished House of the Rising Sun House of the Rising Sun (Hackberry Holland, #4) by James Lee Burke by James Lee Burke

Former Texas Ranger 'Hackberry Holland' is trying to re-unite with his estranged son in 1916 when he comes into possession of a valuable chalice. But an evil arms dealer named Beckman thinks the chalice is the Holy Grail, and means to get it. A compelling struggle between 'good' and 'evil' ensues. Another fine book from James Lee Burke. 4 stars.

message 633: by Georgia (new)

Georgia | 554 comments Just finished The Guilty (Will Robie, #4) by David Baldacci . Liked it very much except who the murderer was although I guessed it halfway through.. It is a Will Robie, Jessica Reel adventure. Will goes back home after over twenty years to find out why his estranged father is said to have murdered someone. 4* except for the ending, but what is an author to do???

message 634: by Autumn (new)

Autumn (autumnmemory80) | 374 comments Right now I am reading The Doll Maker by Richard Montanari. I am actually listening and it is really good. Oddly though, I read through a review on audible and one person said, "FINALLY and (sic) original book about a child murderer." Do what, now? I think if you are worried about the lack of child murder books, then we need to talk. There are bigger issues here, buddy.
