Not specifically, my TBR is always around the same size. I just participate in the challenge as I like the prompts and it helps me to plan my reading for the year as I can never decide what to read next!
- What are you reading this week? Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick- How many books are on your TBR list? 452, but I think there was around 390 when I was making my plan.
- Did you manipulate your TBR list at all to choose the book from the middle of the list? No, I just went to around the midway point and picked something more lighthearted, since that's what I was in the mood for.
- Is shortening your TBR list one of the reasons you participate in the ATY Challenge? No. I know I'm going to be adding books to my TBR list faster than I can read them no matter what. This was just a good was to pick out a variety of books to read this year.

This week I am in the middle of a few books but the one for this challenge is Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. How many books in my TBR ... 177... i really try to keep it below 200 cause otherwise it is just too over whelming. If i leave books in there too long and don't read them i tend to purge them out.
I didn't manipulate the middle it really was the middle ... crazy thing was i had already started listening to it before i joined the challenge. LOL
I do like the idea of shortening my TBR books as well as getting thru some that i have purchased but not yet listened to! :)

On my GR list I have 1000+. But this book was in the middle of a separate TBR spreadsheet that I created of 177 books that I have on hand (either from the library, borrowed from a generous aunt, or previously bought). Yes, I actually made my own personal spreadsheet (complete with a point system!). I am THAT dorky... *embracing it*

I actually didn't! It was a lucky coincidence. I was going to start this one way or another but it just happened to be smack dab in the middle.

Ha! If it is, it isn't working! (Again, I actually had to make a PERSONAL SPREADSHEET.)
This week I am reading Drums of Autumn, by Diana GabaldonMy GR TBR list currently sits at 173 + counting
LOL, I'll be honest... I totally did manipulate it in order to read this book. I sped through the first three books in the series, but this one I've been slowly working on for quite some time. I figured adding it to my challenge would motivate me a little more, and it has!
I wouldn't say that shortening the list was a reason for joining; more so an organized timeline to allow me to read as many of them as I can! In reality, joining the challenge has just introduced me to an incredible number of books to add on to that list. Hey, I'm not complaining! Reading, learning, it's a life-long venture... I hope to always add on to that list.
- What are you reading this week?This week I read Sirenas, Topos y Buitres. Un Bestiario - Guia de Lectura by Franz Kafka. It's a compilation of short stories that involve either animals or "animalized" humans.
- How many books are on your TBR list?
Currently 34, they were around 25 when I picked this book.

No, it was really the one in the middle.

Yes and no. I do want to read all the books in the queue, but new ones are and will be added constantly so the TBR will always be there.

No, my list is forever being added to and after seeing posts and comments about the books people are choosing for the challenge it looks like it will actually cause it to grow larger!

How many books are on your TBR list?
Sooo I basically have two - my Goodreads "To-Read" which is just all the books I like the look of and might want to read, and my "Next Reads" which is all the books I own and haven't read. I usually use the latter as my TBR because I really reeeeally need to buy fewer books and read the ones I ACTUALLY have! Anyway on my Next Reads shelf I have 279 books

I was reading Jamaica Inn for another challenge, and it just so happened to be in the middle of the list.
Is shortening your TBR list one of the reasons you participate in the ATY Challenge?
Sort of. It can make things more interesting to look at the books I have and figure out which ones would answer the prompts. I want to shorten my TBR, but because I have so many, I could easily just choose a load of very similar books and avoid certain ones, so doing a challenge like this helps keep things a bit more diverse and sometimes force me to read certain books!

Did you manipulate your TBR list at all to choose the book from the middle of the list?
I arranged it by date added and chose a book from the middle of the list. Between choosing the book and actually reading it I read a few other books, so it was a few places off from the middle at that point. I decided to stick with it though.
Is shortening your TBR list one of the reasons you participate in the ATY Challenge?
Not really. I would be shortening my list anyway. The challenge is just a fun way to choose what to read next. (Not that my list ever actually gets shorter because I'm constantly adding to it.)

As of this moment, 578

I think at the time this book was smack dab in the middle, or 1 or 2 from the center number of my TBR. Now though my middle book would be something entirely different.

I haven't the foggiest idea how anyone shortens their TBR. For every book I read, I learn about 4 more that are new, or I missed when they came out, or are classics, or whatever, and then they get added. I predict I will always have more books on my TBR than on my read shelf, and I'm ok with that.

Did you manipulate your TBR list at all to choose the book from the middle of the list?
Nope. I found the center book on my TBR (237) & chose a book within 10 books on my list in either direction.
Is shortening your TBR list one of the reasons you participate in the ATY Challenge?
Definitely not. I don't think my TBR will ever get shorter. I use it as a place to keep track of books that I think sound interesting, not really for books that I feel like I need to immediately read. And there will always be so many of those. And I am glad for it!

What are you reading this week? Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology by Leah Remini - I actually already read it over the weekend. Sometimes I can't plan out what I'm reading since I put books on hold at the library and when they come is when they come. If it's a popular book, like this one, I have to start reading it fast so I can make sure to take it back for the next person on hold.How many books are on your TBR list? - 99
Did you manipulate your TBR list at all to choose the book from the middle of the list? Yes, because Troublemaker was #58, which was close to the center of 99, but not quite.
Is shortening your TBR list one of the reasons you participate in the ATY Challenge? Not really. I would say it's more like icing on the cake, just a positive by-product of doing reading challenges like this one.

Not really. My list is pretty fluid. I add anything that looks interesting at the time and delete when I can't remember why I wanted to read the book.

Around 700 if I don't count the graphic novels and manga.

I didn't use my main TBR, but my "TBR-sequels". There are around 40 books there, so it was easy to find the middle :)

No, with Goodreads my TBR is a dark hole. However for this year challenge, I succeeded to use mostly books already in my TBR so it'll help to check them.

Currently there are 40 but there were only about 20 when I chose this book.

No, although I wasn't too strict about choosing a book exactly in the middle of my list. I think I decided that I'd pick a book that was between 8 and 12 out of the 20 books that were then on my list.

If it was then I'm doing a very bad job as my list has doubled since joining this challenge! My reason for joining was just to encourage me to read more - whether from my existing TBR list or newly discovered books. So far it's going pretty well!

No. I did have another book chosen for this spot earlier this year. It is not available at my library yet and I want to read in order so I just divided my list by two again and this one was next.

LOL, I actually joined to lengthen my list. I was getting bored with the authors I was reading and wanted to try new things. This challenge has definitely helped with that. There are so many good suggestions that other people have for each prompt.
In fact this book ended up on my TBR because someone read it for last years challenge.

No, I chose the exact middle book. However, my TBR has changed a bit since I made my challenge list, so it's not the exact middle anymore.

No - I get 99% of my books from the library, so my TBR is just a digital list of books that sound good. I did try to choose books from the beginning-ish of my TBR for other challenges to try and clean them out.

My reasoning for partaking in this challenge was to push me to read more. For many many years, I always read between 40-50 books in a year, but for the past two years, I've barely read more than 20. My New Year's Resolution this year is to read more books and this challenge is definitely helping me achieve that.

35 at the moment. I try to keep it as small as possible, adding only books that I'll be reading in the very near future. TBRs that are too huge overwhelm me. A smaller TBR is like a more achievable target.

No, this book was #73 out of 148 when I decided to read it, so it was close enough already.

Not really--last year I added books to my TBR to fit prompts (though I did delete a few of them at the end of the year when it became obvious I wouldn't finish all of the prompts). This year I'm not adding any books to my TBR specifically to meet prompts.

567 and counting. I seem to keep finding more every day. I definitely add more than I take off!

I have 19 pages on my TBR list. I sorted by date added, as that feels most correct/appropriate. Then I searched pages 9, 10, and 11 for a book that was not part of a series as I'm in the middle of too many at the moment and don't want to add more, haha. There were many good choices to choose, but More Than This won out!

No. My reason for joining was for extra motivation to keep my reading streak going. I was in a giant slump for most of 2015/2016, and not until October or November of 2016 did I finally start reading on a daily basis again.

Currently there are 263 books on my tbr. I seem to add at least a few more each month.

When i made my list, it was almost the middle. I think it was either the second order third book in the series that was the middle so i popped up a couple spots on my tbr to the first in the series.

Not really. I came across it couple years ago and enjoyed the discussions and respect that everyone has for each other. I have added way more books thanks to everyone here and the discussions that have occurred making me went to read them.

My TBR is very long. I went by the TBR of books I physically own which is 1,694 and divided that in half.

I choose 3 books in the middle and then read one chapter of each book to decide which one I was going to continue reading.

A: 25. But on my bookshelf I think there are 100!

A: No. I just count until 13 (there were 26 book before), and this one was there. Yey!

I am kind of OCD and I like lists to be in alphabetical order, so I almost always sort the list alphabetically. However, to pick the book I went to the middle page of my TBR list and picked one from that page.

Yes and no. I usually try to match books from my TBR to the challenge, but I usually also end up hearing about more good books and my TBR grows - never really shrinks...
