4: A title that doesn't contain the letter "E"
This week I am reading:Dumplin' by Julie Murphy
It wasn't difficult finding a book without the letter E in it. This was one I have had on my list for awhile and just happened to be E-less
I think I regularly choose books by titles, even though it's not always a conscious decision.
I'm starting the year with an easy read, Matilda, by Roahl Dahl. It was not difficult at all to find a book without and 'e. I picked this one because I read it when I was a kid and has been in my 'to re-read' list for ages.
Like I said, a very easy read and an enjoyable one :)
I am reading Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. At first when I saw this challenge I thought it would be hard but then I remembered several titles that don't have an "e" in them.
I like it because it easier than it sounds!
For my second read of 2017, I am going with Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly. It wasn't difficult for me to find a book without an "E", I just browsed my TBR list! I am a huge WWII Historical Fiction buff, so I am looking forward to diving into this one.
The title of a book is often the first thing that intrigues me, so I didn't mind picking a book based on this criteria at all.
- What are you reading this week?
- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
Nope. I have several choices throughout my TBR list. I saved this prompt for last after I picked out all my others
- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I like the title prompts a lot because it's the easiest to find a match! Other prompts might require more searching/research and I'm lazy ;)
What are you reading this week?Glass Sword
Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
Not really. This is the next book in a series that I found doing last year's challenge, so it was already on my TBR. :)
What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I admit a lot of times the title of a book pulls me in to read the description. If the title doesn't get my attention, I might not even give it a chance.
What are you reading this week?Bad Blood
Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
Not really. I thought it would be, but then there were a few on my TBR list that ended up fitting the bill
What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
The title has to appeal to me. If the title doesn't appeal to me at all, it takes me a lot to convince me to flip it over and read the synopsis
I started this challenge with " My Champion" by Adler. An easy choice to read and it just worked out that it had no "e." I adore this series so this was an easy selection.
I am reading Dragonflight. It is a favorite of my kid and promised to read it. It just happens to be e-less.It is not difficult to find one, but it was difficult to find one that I wanted to read fir this year and also was not scheduled for another prompt. I am trying to keep a doable tbr.
I sometimes pick by title but most of my reads are inspired by reads from Goodreads friends or Litsy, so titles don't really matter that much. I do appreciate humorous titles, however.
I am now beginning Lolita, by Vladimir Nabokov
It was not difficult at all to find a title, as this book was on my short-list, waiting to be read, anyway.
I would not normally read a book based on the title alone. Although, the title, just like a cover, is one aspect that initially draws me in. I thought the prompt was easy and fun.
Kristin wrote: "I was planning on reading my selection--Rolling Blackouts by Sarah Glidden--anyway, so it wasn't too hard! I finished it today. It's graphic non-fiction / non-fiction comic, and it explores the fie..."Kristin, it's better to give your opinion of the book in a dedicated thread in the "A-Z" folder, otherwise it's going to get lost in the progress posts and it won't help other members to chose this book!

What are you reading this week?
To kick start the new year, I decided to read Tsarina, a historical-fiction book by Patrick J. Nelle.
Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
No, it was not difficult to find this book. Quite frankly, I read the book and then decided to include it in this category instead of the historical-fiction category because I found this book to quite light on the historical component.
What do you think about choosing a book by its title ?
I believe it is something that people do pretty often, nothing unusual here. I am often guilty of choosing a book based on the cover or the title alone.
- What are you reading this week? Lost Stars by Claudia Gray- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title? Not too bad. When you've got 400+ books TBR there's a good chance you can meet any criteria.
- What do you think about choosing a book by its title? I only partly chose by title. It was also a book near the top of my TBR list.
- What are you reading this week?Read The Witch of Napoli by Michael Schmicker
- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
Not really.

What are you reading this week?A Court of Mist and Fury
Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title? I was surprised to find so many on my TBR. I really thought it would require more searching
-What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
When skimming the shelves at the library the title is usually what catches my eye first. The colour of the spine also helps me pick out what to read next. The synopsis on the back cover clinches if I read the book. Since joining Goodreads a couple of years ago that has changed a bit. Recommendations by other readers on this group lead me to more books now then skimming library shelves.
What are you reading this week? Hollow City
- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title? Nope
- What do you think about choosing a book by its title? I think the title is a huge factor for me to pick a book
I read Carmilla (sorry on my phone so it wouldn't let me link). It's a vampire novella that came out before Dracula. This was a quick read but it seems like they kind of glossed over the plot point that should have been the climax of the story. I did not have a hard time finding one. I normally don't pick a book by its title but have been known to specifically NOT read a book if the title looked like the story would not be worthwhile. The one author I read solely because a title caught my eye is Tom Robbins ("Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates", "Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas", all the titles are great)
- What are you reading this week? Botanicaust
- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
No, I'd plenty of those on my TBR and 5 I'd like to read this year!
- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I usually don't pay attention to the title, I prefer choosing by the cover, but with the challenge, it's a fun way to pick a book :)

A good title will make me want to know more about the book.

What are you reading this week? Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. ArmentroutWas it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title? No, I've had this book for awhile and it was just sitting there waiting to be read.
What do you think about choosing a book by its title? The title is one aspect of a book that can make it alluring. If it sounds interesting it will make me want to read the description.
- What are you reading this week? It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini
- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
No, so I tried to find the longest E-less title on my tbr list.
The longest title I've seen someone come up with is seven words (Down and Out in Paris and London) and I'm interested to see if anyone can come up with something longer for this prompt.
- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
It's usually the title that catches my eye but I'd never read a book without checking the blurb first.
- What are you reading this week?Matilda by Roald Dahl

What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I think it's a good way to get out of your comfort zone.
I read I Crawl Through it by A.S.King
It wasn't difficult at all, I thought it would be, but I picked this book up randomly from my TBR and I discovered that it had no 'E'
As much as I hate to admit it, the cover and title of the book make a huge difference to me. Otherwise I pick a book because of the writer.
What are you reading this week?

No. I have about 500 books and I've actually had this one one the top of my pile for awhile now.
What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I think it's fun. Having as many books as I do kind of makes it hard for me sometimes to choose what's next. That's why challenges are great. They help me be more decisive in my choosing.

I've been known to pick something up from its title, its cover, or three key words from its blurb, so I think it's fun and can be somewhat serendipitous.

Not at all! I really enjoyed this topic. It was fun to search for a book.

I'm more likely to pick up a book if the title or cover intrigues me.
- What are you reading this week?I was reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
It took me quite a while to find books without 'e' in the title that interested me
- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
Choosing a book by it's title is not something I do. I read reviews and the synopsis before choosing my book.
What are you reading this week?Bad Blood by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
There were quite a few books without an 'e' in the title once I started paying attention. The hard part was picking which one!

What are you reading this week?TransAtlantic by Colum McCann
Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
You know, I actually did. I didn't think I would because there are a lot of books on my TBR that don't have Es in the title, but I'm reading in order this year, so I was trying to find a book that I was both in the mood to read this week & was available at the library. It proved more difficult than I expected.
What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I enjoyed it. I like that the list have various ways of choosing books, whether content or title or cover or genre, etc. It mixes things up a lot.
- What are you reading this week?A Million Worlds with You by Claudia Gray
- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
No, it was surprisingly easy. I had already put this book into my plan but was debating between it and another before seeing this topic and immediately moving it.
- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
Even with a topic like this I still don't choose solely by title. I narrow down a few good titles and pick the one with the best synopsis. That being said, the title and cover are generally what first draw me in to a book.
- What are you reading this week?Fall of Giants by Ken Follet
- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
Actually no. This was sitting in a "To Be Read" stack at my house. I was surprised to find something so quickly.
- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I think it's a good way to maybe read something that you normally wouldn't. If you go just by title then you don't know about the story, or the setting, and you just pick something. It makes for more adventurous reading, even if you end up not being wildly fond of the book.

- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
It's a chance. Sometimes you find a gem and sometimes they are stinkers. It's fun to read random books sometimes though.
What are you reading this week?Gadsby by Ernest Vincent Wright
Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
It was more difficult than I'd expected, although I did eventually have a shortlist of three. Then I remembered I'd once heard of a book written without using the letter e at all so I decided to look it up and read it for this week's category.
What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
Perhaps I should come back and answer this after I've read the book. I think this method led me to choose something I wouldn't ordinarily have read, but whether that's a good thing or not will depend on how much I enjoy the book. I do like that it challenged me to find something that hadn't already been on my to read list for ages though.

- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
It can be hit or miss. It might get one out of their comfort zone which can be good, but can sometimes be misleading because titles don't always reflect the story inside.
