Cristin | 54 comments What are you reading this week?
A Court of Mist and Fury

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
It was a little harder at first than I thought it would be, since initially I kept forgetting that "the" has an "e" in it, but once I just started looking at titles on my TBR without "the", it became easier.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
Picking by title alone is really not my preferred method because I think few books are "what it says on the can". I would much rather go by the blurb on the back or recommendations from friends.

Jess (seejessread) | 296 comments What are you reading this week? Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title? It was accidental. I had the book in my closet for ages. I thought it may have dual timelines given the subject for week 9 but it was not.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title? I generally do that anyway. My book finding process is title sounds cool/cover looks good, read description if that sounds good then read book.

Jill (dogbotsmum) | 1356 comments What are you reading this week? Blacklands by Belinda Bauer

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title? No it was surprisingly easy. I found I had quite a few books to choose from.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title? I think it is the title /cover that first attracts my attention, then I read the blurb, and decide from there if I am interested

message 104: by Michele (new)

Michele | 5 comments What are you reading this week? Echo Burning by Lee Child

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title? No it was surprisingly easy. It was the next book in the Jack Reacher series and just happened to be without an "e" in the title.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title? I do it quite often, being first drawn to a book by it's title and then reading it's blurb.

What is that letter that starts the word ECHO? LOL. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Our Souls at Night by Kent Haruf.

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
No, I made a whole list of them.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
Sometimes a poetic title catches my attention, like when I chose a book for this week.

Not really, this is not the first non "e" book I have this year but I'm glad to mark this task as complete.

- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I like it. It still makes you think about picking a book for a task but there are still many chooses and it is a task you can complete without having to have knowledge about the book.

What are you reading this week? Inshallah by Sybil Powel
Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title? No- had multiple choices- I was going to read this last year for the identity book week but it got pushed aside for a library book so was happy to have an excuse to circle back

What do you think about choosing a book by its title? I've done it once or twice, I'm more likely to chose by the cover. This one those, Inshallah is one of my favorite phrases, so at least it would have attracted my attention

message 109: by Eunice (new)

Eunice What are you reading this week?
-A Drop of Night by Stefan Bachmann

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
-Not really. I know many books that don't have an e in the title.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
-It's fine, I guess. Whenever I choose books to read, usually it's the title that attracts me and the plot or storyline that makes me decide to read.

message 110: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments - What are you reading this week? For this week I read Odd Thomas

- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title? Well, you would think no, but the book I initially chose for this prompt was The Girls LOL. I completely disregarded the "e" in The....I was going to use Caraval in its place, but then I realized I had just finished Odd Thomas and it fit so I stuck it in there :-)

- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
Didn't bother me, I tried to think through books that I'm waiting to read anyways.

Bird Box by Josh Malerman.

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
No, and I got a little bit obsessed with finding them as soon as this was suggested the first time! It's really fun, especially when you find a long one.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
It's nice, for a change, to pick a book for an arbitrary reason like this. It's what I find really fun about reading challenges.

I rarely choose one by title. More often I'm put off by a title I don't like

Not really, my tbr list had a few right away

What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
It's kind of a dumb idea. Yeah, titles are nice and all but do I have any interest in the plot??? Who knows??? Not people who just read the title, that's for sure

- What are you reading this week?
Rowan of Rin by Emily Rodda

- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
It probably wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be, although the first book that I picked for this did end up having an "e" in it and I had to change my option.

- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I probably choose a book by it's title more than I think because when browsing through books at a book shop I either pull out a book to read the synopsis if it has a title I recognise, a catchy title or an author I recognise.

Stacey D. | 1908 comments What are you reading this week? Saturday

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title? Not at all. In fact, I have several on my TBR.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title? Sometimes it's fun, if the title is intriguing enough, just as choosing a book by it's cover can be fun once in a while as well. I usually like to read a bit more about the book before choosing it, but once in a while you gotta say, "what the f***" and go for it.

I didn't think it would be difficult to choose a book and did so quite quickly. After reading the one I'd chosen I realised it did actually have an 'E' in the title! So I shuffled that to another category and shuffled this one from the catergerory Id put it in ( Middle of TBR list)
I don't have a problem choosing a book by its title, ( apart from being unable to spell!) but I made sure I only chose from my TBR list anyway.

message 118: by Caitlyn (new)

Caitlyn (midnightmelody) | 7 comments Week Four
Caliban's War (Expanse, #2) by James S.A. Corey

With so many books on my TBR list, it wasn't that difficult to pick one out without the letter "E". I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Leviathan Wakes, and with the show based on these books out now, I was looking for a place to fit this in.

I don't think I've ever picked up a book based solely on its title. The title may help to catch my attention at the bookstore, but I wouldn't consider buying it if the synopsis didn't sound interesting. I have definitely bought a book based solely on the author, though, without even glancing at the synopsis.

- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?

Not really - I was already reading this when I saw someone else in the group choose this as the book without an "e". However, scrolling through my bookshelf, there are not that many!

- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?

I definitely use titles and covers as a way to pull books of shelves and check them out, but I usually open them based off the blurb or a recommendation

message 121: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 539 comments What are you reading this week?
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
Yes it was. When I went through my TBR list it turned out that all the books I kept wanting to read had e's in them.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
Book titles are what catch my eye and make me take a closer look at the book. It's a good way to branch out from all the series that I am already reading.

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
Not really, I have a few on my shelves.

I tend to first go by genre and then by author and after that by cover. I rarely pick a book by its title.

No, although I did have to scroll through more pages that I thought in my TBR to find one!

The title often catches my eye - or the cover - but then I always read the jacket and/or GR reviews before deciding to read a book.

- What do you think about choosing a book by its title? Well, to be honest, I didn't. I was about to read it, and I noticed that it didn't have an E in it. I might be attracted to a book because of its title, but the description has to interest me.

- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
Nope not at all. I had been meaning to read this one since it was published Feb 2016, so it was a good chance to actually make sure I read it.

- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I don't normally do it but it was fun to go through the books I own on my kindle and find one that fits - seems to be easier to do when basing on a title!

Assassination Vacation

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?

I had 3 different E-less options on my TBR so I picked the one I was most interested in.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title?

I'm more of a summary person. A title might draw me in, but if the summary is not intriguing I'm not reading it.

JoJo Kirkman (jojo2013) | 315 comments - What are you reading this week?
Cujo by Stephen King

- Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
No, I had quite a few to choose from. I've been focusing on King's works. I'm reading in publication order, so I went through all Stephen King's books that don't have an E in the title, and that's how I narrowed down my decision to read Cujo.

- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I don't mind doing that, it's fun.

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3266 comments What are you reading this week?
I actually read this back in May, but I'm realizing I've forgotten to update several of these posts. I read Fangirl.

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
Actually, it was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be but I guess it helps to have a TBR over 1000 items long. Although I found I had an odd tendency to "forget" how words were spelled. I'd be looking at the word which clearly has an E in it, and just not notice that it has an E.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I usually choose by the synopsis mostly, but it was a fun scavenger hunt element to add to my selection.

Not particularly, I've been using these challenges to try to make my way through the various books that I've bought as well as to make diving into my grandma's massive library a little bit easier.
- What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
Honestly I choose a lot of books based on the cover, so the title isn't really that different for me.

It was surprisingly easy. I had a different book slotted here but then I wanted to fit Final Girls somewhere.

I think titles tend to reveal a lot about the book so I like to go by the title.

A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian by Marina Lewycka

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?

Not really, so to add to the challenge I went for the longest I had on my TBR. Having said that, I've checked this title for Es so many times, as if one might sneak in to thwart me!

What do you think about choosing a book by its title?

The title prompts in the challenge are some of my favourites, but I wouldn't want to choose a book purely by its title. It still needs to be about something I want to read about.

message 140: by Mel (new)

Mel | 177 comments What are you reading this week?
Crazy Rich Asians

Was it difficult for you to find a book without an "e" in the title?
Not particularly; once i looked, I had quite a few options. I did have to check carefully because a few options I liked had an "e" hidden in there so they wouldn't have worked! I wound up reading this one because I've been meaning to read it for a long time and I was in the mood for something light-hearted.

What do you think about choosing a book by its title?
I tend to mostly pick based on content, but I do have to admit, titles draw me in, so maybe there's a little merit to choosing by title.
