Also Matthew Dicks, Monica Dickens, and Michael Thomas - none of which I've read, so can't recommend them, but they're on my TBR list!

There are so many when you search aren't there!

message 412: by Mary (new)

Mary (bookworm60) | 367 comments Goodness. Is that the Monica Dickens that has been around forever? I followed your links but I knew that she wrote about the horses. I remember her Follyfoot Farm books from my childhood. That link took me straight into my school library. Funnily enough, I have moved back to the suburb where I went to primary school and took my sister on a tour the other day, in particular taking her to see where our old library was. It has sadly closed down now.

Back on subject - I have books 3& 4 of Michael Dobb's Winston Churchill series. So I could continue using books that I own. A shame to not read the beginning of the series but I am familiar with the history so maybe it won't be an issue.

And thank you so much for your help. I very much appreciate it. And the trip down memory lane which was lovely. :)

Well, if you change your mind and don't want to read Michael Dobbs, I also looked at the Aussie Readers' bookshelf and found Maria Tumarkin, Mark Tredinnick, Mel Teshco, Mark Tedeschi, Margaret Tanner, Matthew Tait, and Mark Dapin, Marjorie Mcardell Davey, Marele Day, Marianne Delacourt, Mark Dodd, Michael Duffy, Mary Durack!!

Haha! Very easy Marianne :) I go to our members list first to get all the names I can starting with "M" for example. Then I do "add book/author" (here) and type in the M name eg. Marianne and the initial of the surname and then pick from the long drop down box - check them first to see if they are foreign (not in English) and what genre they write. If it seems OK I'll add them to this box then on I go to the next one :)

Asa-Marie Webster | 34 comments I am so enjoying Watership Down. Boy can Richard Adams write or what?! Love it. Love his sense of building suspense and climax and he is just so descriptive. I think he might have actually been to the downs, which I'm guessing helps the sense of place develop somewhat in the reader's mind. Aaaah a mere 77 pages to go!
