A book set in wartime - Custard Tarts and Broken Hearts it was an ok read, bit sugary / happy ever after for my taste.22/52
Just completed #31 (main character different ethnicity - African American) - Devil in the Grove: Thurgood Marshall, the Groveland Boys, and the Dawn of a New America by Gilbert King. As a Floridian, a criminal defense lawyer, and just plain old human being, this book is a gut-punch reminder that our people were guilty of some pretty awful stuff, and those who weren't active in it were "oblivious" to it. We cannot allow the atrocities of the past to continue in different iterations in the future. This book was excellent, well-researched, and well-written! My only criticism was the author took vignettes from the main tale to explain back-story that could have been done better in an aside or footnote. Overall excellent and a must-read! 4.5 stars19/30

Just completed #7 (story within story) - Always by Sarah Jio. I was not particularly wowed by this book. The plot had interesting bits but wasn't incredibly exciting. The characters did not seem real - just too perfect and trite. Not my favorite. Not a bad read just not great either. 3 stars20/30
Since it's already mid-March I might come to regret this later in the year... But I'm planning on reading a few books that hit the mark on some of the tasks, so I thought why not :) Please sign me up for 31 :) Thank you.

21. A book from a nonhuman perspective – The Golem and the Jinni"
That is both a good book, and a fun choice for this challenge! I'm still trying to think of one.
Just completed #45 (refugee) - Little Bee by Chris Cleave. Overall I appreciate what the author was seeking to accomplish. At the beginning, I felt as if I was dropped into the middle of the narrative, and it took awhile for me to get my bearings. The writing was good, and the characters complex. The book has a sad subject matter, and I wasn't overly fond of the abrupt, unresolved ending. Worth reading. 4 stars21/30
