I realized I forgot to mention my picture books from Tuesday night. As with most nights, I read 7 to my daughter. Since 3 is the max, I'll just give a shout out to: The Monster at the End of this Book, Barnyard Dance, and And to Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street.I also found myself reading a poem, on Facebook no less. I was about to scroll passed it but remembered that that was on the to do list. It was written for my late friend Gabe Tertipes by his brother.
J, I read the Montster at the end of this book to my girls. They thought it was funny and wanted me to read it again right away.
Melanie wrote: "There should only be orange and yellow book covers left no, right?"Yup I think so Melanie. I am almost done with
so that would take care of the orange.
Hi: I'm sorry for being absent the last couple of days. We are selling our house so we had a lot of preparations to do. Here's my update for those days.I've read another 100 pages of The Name of the Wind
I've also finished Why We Broke Up It is a YA book with an average of 3.5 stars. Its pagecount is 354 pages.
I'm also in the middle ofThe BFG (100 pages) wich I guess can count as a middle grade book when finish with it tomorrow.
I also saw that I have three guesses to use.
My guesses are H4, E5 and E10
If anyone has used them, tell me and I will change them
Jennifer wrote: "J, I read the Monster at the end of this book to my girls. They thought it was funny and wanted me to read it again right away."That was a favorite of mine as a kid and it was great to see how my daughter responded to it the first time (she was excited to see what the monster looked like). Now she knows all the comedic beats and plays into them (her favorite being the very last page).

It's funny about the yellow. I am also listening to an audiobookThe Yellow Wallpaper and Other Stories but the cover of this specific book is not yellow, lol
Keep up the good work guys and thanks for bearing with me. I'm still under the weather but I'm updating now so we don't get too far behind!
Finished O Little Town of Maggody. That puts my page total as follows: O Little Town of Maggody = 217 pages
Killed Strangely: The Death of Rebecca Cornell = 266 pages
Total = 483 pages so far
The Maggody book is a mystery novel (and if you've never read Joan Hess' Maggody series, you're missing some hysterically funny comedy). It's set in winter, so I can use it in that category.
Marta wrote: "I have finally finished a book! The Paul Street Boys - 127 pages today, + 30 mins of Canterbury Tales on audio."Look what i found on pg. 4
!Looks pretty yellow to me. :)
J wrote: "Marta wrote: "I have finally finished a book! The Paul Street Boys - 127 pages today, + 30 mins of Canterbury Tales on audio."Look what i found on pg. 4 ..."
Lol! Yep but my edition is
.I am planning on reading
today or tomorrow though, and it is yellow!
Just finished
. So this could go for the orange cover and it was published over 10 years ago. This is my 3 book completed too Emm.
Here's where we are after the update... (again, thanks for your patience guys and all your well wishes! This sickness just hit me like ton of bricks and there isn't much my doctor will permit me to take since I'm pregnant so it is mostly a waiting game, unfortunately.)Everyone's pages and games were updated. If I missed anyone, please let me know. My brain isn't operating at 100% right now, unfortunately! If you read more than 600 pages, I just capped you at 600. 600 pages is the maximum allowed member contribution for that task so everything above and beyond that is just gravy.
Guesses:
Mimmi - E10 is a Hit! You sunk the cruiser! Way to go! You get another guess for Saga.
Lois - E6 is a Hit. F5 is a Miss.
Sarah - You've earned a guess for Anne of Green Gables.
J - You get 3 guesses for your picture books and, as you already know, you're at your max there. You also get a guess for your poem. :D
Ira - You get a guess for Why We Broke Up. Your guesses: H4 is miss. E5 is a miss. E10 was already used so you keep your guess for another try.
We've sunk 3/5 ships and we're on our way to the 4th with a couple days to go! :D You guys are doing so well working together and I'm so proud!
is up next for me. It's partly yellow, I'd say. What do you guys think? It's a little iffy.
I think it would count as yellow. What is wrong Emm? A bad cold or what? I am also prego and my doc told me meds that can be taken for certain things.
Oh, and we got our page count goal. After adding everyone's totals I was not sure who actually got us over the hump so I used a random number generator to pick. Congrats J, the guess goes to you!Since we got our goal, you don't have to report your page counts any longer ... but keep those books coming! We're close to wiping out all those ships!
Yeah, just your regular run o' the mill cold. There are a few OTC things my OB/GYN has approved me for but she says they'll just help with some of the symptoms and that it's going to have to run it's course. She's not huge on what she calls "unnecessary medicating" so I'm taking her lead and trying to go the more natural route here. This is my first baby so every time I sneeze I freak out and think something is wrong. ;)
If you like tea, try some with lemon and honey. The honey is a natural antihistamine and the lemon helps to soothe as well.
Good luck Emm, I am allergic to cold meds, so I understand not taking things. I agree with Jennifer about the tea and other than that, rest and fluids is the best plan.Do I get guesses for finishing my other two books? Glitches for short story or MC as a child, and Naked in Death for red (unsure if we have to get all colors first).
Oh, did I miss that? You should get a guess for Glitches. The group will get a guess for the reading rainbow when we finish it. :D But that's an overlapping challenge so you would also get a guess for finishing Naked in Death if you pick another category for it also.
I completed The Eyre Affair which is good for a fantasy book or a Book with an Article in the Title .I also read a poem online.
Looks like the guesses stand at...Emm - 6 Guesses (Usable by the group. If you want ot use an Emm guess just tell me it's an Emm guess and where you're using it.)
Mimmi - 3 Guesses
SamZ 2 Guesses
J 8 Guesses
Sarah 1 Guess
Ira 2 Guesses
Ed 2 Guesses
Marta 2 Guesses
Again, if you think I missed something, let me know. I'm in a bit of a haze here. ;D
I did not have time to read yestarday at all but today I added 1hr of audio on the Canterbury Tales, 46 pages on Algorithms to Live By, and 81 pages of Anna Karenina.Total for week: 384 pages
5 hours of audio
Finished 1 book
Emm, I believe I earned guesses for:
- a middle grade book
- 6 short stories from the Canterbury Tales
- reading two hours straight
Thanks! I hope you will get better!
The short stories are a group effort, Marta. We only get a guess for that if the group reads 3 short stories or novellas (not combined with anything else). You can only individually contribute 1 story to the cause. But you'll get a guess if you finish Canterbury Tales. You do get guesses for Middle Grade and Reading 2 Straight Hours though. I'll update that.
Nope, just 2 guesses Ed. Sorry, that's a bit confusing. I was just using Message #226 to post the available guesses of the whole group.
I finished 3 books Emm. That is a guess correct? Also did you see my message about the book I finished today?
Nope, I totally missed that Jennifer. I suck today! You get two guesses and we're that much closer to our reading rainbow. One for the guesses is for finishing 3 books. The other is for a book 10 years or older.
I also finished
, 45 pages. And it is yellow!Total pages: 429
I think will this count under female author.
This brings my count to three guesses.
Ed: H6-Hit (Emm). You sunk the battleship! We only have to find that tiny little destroyer (2-Block Ship).
Emm wrote: "The short stories are a group effort, Marta. We only get a guess for that if the group reads 3 short stories or novellas (not combined with anything else). You can only individually contribute 1 st..."I will not finish it this week. I am listening to it in the car and it is long. Still have 7 hours to go and very little driving left in the week, if any.
Ok, I'd like to guess F2 and A8(Assigning Naked in Death to female author, mystery, or series, wherever it is needed).
Also, I'm a massive fan of the Ricola brand lemon mint cough drops. They don't taste super gross and the extra lemon may help with any pregnancy related nausea. Vapor rub on your neck and chest is helpful, also.
Jennifer wrote: "It's funny about the yellow. I am also listening to an audiobookThe Yellow Wallpaper and Other Stories but the cover of this specific book is not yellow, lol"LOL. Bit backwards thinking right there by the publishers.
Well done on sinking the cruiser Mimmi and well done too Ed for the Battleship. We are doing well.Rest up Emm, you poor thing. How far along are you?
Going by the map we should only have 1 x 2 block ship to go, fantastic work.
Just finished Another Fine Myth for another 150 pages on my total. I am calling that one the Fantasy book. Now to pick my next book...
