I have been reading all day, popped on here and now I *think* I am in a Battleship-type game that I have not been following- can I donate a guess to someone, if those are indeed guesses for *this* Jennifer??
Nope, we've got a diffierent Jennifer on our team. But if you would like to play along and you still need a team you can pop in over here so Zaz can assign you to one.
Not a problem, Melanie, but just so you know that's a cooperative task. In order to get the guess someone else needs to read a book by a female author that they haven't already used on another task. Wow, that sounds confusing even to me. Might I suggest you use one of the genre tasks?
Would it fit the Publishing task of 'Read a book published outside the major 5 Publishers'?It is published by Full Quiver Publishing.
Yep! That works. You also get another guess for being the person to finish off the Read 10 Books Task. You've got 2 guesses unused now.
Emm does the Individual Treasure Hunt Challenge have any bearing on the group? Do we need to let you know if we finish it?I know we can overlap books with both challenges but I wasn't sure if we had to tell you when we'd read 5/10 of the books.
Nope. It's just another challenge for people who wanted to do both an individual challenge and a group challenge or for those who were only interested in doing an individual challenge.Let me know if you get to 3 books read for the read-a-thon though. You get a guess for that. And, since I have just finished my 3rd book today, I'm giving myself a guess! :D
Cool- this looks like fun! Not for tonight, though. Next time- let me know! Good luck reading and blowing up Battleships, everyone! :0)
Thanks. It's a week long event. You've still got time to join in if you're interested. It won't end until the clock strikes Monday.
Jennifer wrote: "What do you think about The Canterbury Tales Marta? I read that when I was about 13 and loved it.Emm, the titles of the books are Ish,Just One More and [..."
It makes for a good listen, since they are tales. I enjoy the ones that depict the medieval life and are unique, but the repeated stories of antique literature and the endless morality preachings I could do without. It seems weird that they have to prove everything by some Roman or Greek story. But it is an interesting into how medieval literature was thought of.
My page count for today is 69 pages. My reading time has been seriously depleted so far this week due to the idiot who hit my parked car... hoping that I've gotten everything straightened out and can get back on track and earn some guesses to help you guys out!
I finished Player Piano, which hives me 167 pages for the first two days of the challenge. As mentioned before, it's a dystopia with a purple cover (I think):
I just did the "If I could turn back time" game and yesterday I read 118 pages between Death at Victoria Dock and Anne of Green Gables
I finished Deadpool, Volume 1: Secret Invasion as a graphic novel in a single sitting. I have more graphic novels that I have not read yet, but I think I'll shift to a book. Off to look at hits we need (should probably shoot for a cover color).
ok.... just read 107 pages to finish Strange Maps: An Atlas of Cartographic Curiosities which I had started before the Read-a-thon. It qualifies for Book with a Long Title or Books Started Before the Read-a-Thon or Read a Book Published Outside the Major 5 Publishers (Viking)...so, which helps the team best?
Jennifer I had a hard time coming up with old books, too! I read through your book list, and I was in love with the BSC also. A year or so ago I actually found they'd made it into a graphic novel and I was super skeptical but very surprised! It might be a fun (and quick) visit down memory lane to check it out! Kristy's Great Idea
Melanie wrote: "The Baby-sitters Club in graphic? :-oI had all the books, the game and the videos. lol"
Yes, by Raina Telgemeier. I was very pleasantly surprised with the way the girl's individual personalities transferred and the drawings allowed them to update the book without taking out the necessity of meeting together so parents could get a group of babysitters with one call. (Now they just put a facebook post on our neighborhood page).
These are my stats for today: Pages read: 252
Audiobook hours: an hour and five minutes (Can I count these as pages read instead if the audiobook category is completed?)
I finished There once were stars, today, which would count as a dystopian and I also finished Saga volume 4. Can graphic novels count for any challenge?
Just finished reading 3 picture books for my first guess! The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Toys Meet Snow: Being the Wintertime Adventures of a Curious Stuffed Buffalo, a Sensitive Plush Stingray, and a Book-loving Rubber Ball, and Henry & Leo
I will have to check that graphic novel out. I thought of another series I read alot too when I was younger, Enclyclopedia Brown. Geesh I feel old remembering all of those, lol.
This is my first read-a-thon, and I'm thrilled to be here. Just finished Killed Strangely: The Death of Rebecca Cornell. It's history, set in the country I live in, and has a female author.
I just finished The Silkworm which can count towards "Books Read for the ATY Challenge" and I read for 2 straight hours today so that can count towards "Hours Read Straight"Unless we have filled our quota on those ones and then I will put that book into some other spot!
woohoo, I think your book finished the ATY part, it might have finished off the 2 hours, but I could be wrong.
J - Looks purple to me! :D You get a guess for the dystopia, I added your page count, and we're that much closer to a rainbow! :D For Deadpool, you get a guess for finishing it in one sitting and another one for another category. We don't need any more graphics for that category but it can count towards something else. We can go with book in a series.Mimmi - You get a guess for finishing Saga in one sitting. You get another guess for another category. We don't need anymore graphic novels but they still count for other categories. We can use it as a book in a series. :D I added your page count. You can convert audiobook hours to pages now since we're no longer needing audiobook hours. You get another guess for There Once Were Stars. It also looks like that's your 3rd book read so you get another guess for that.
Ed - You get a guess for finishing that book and I've added your pages. :D You also get another guess for being the group member who got us to 15 books read!
SamZ - You get 3 guesses for your 3 picture books and that puts you at the limit for those.
I updated everyone on the games. If I'm missing on on a game, just let me know.
Oh, Lois! I almost didn't see you there. Welcome to the group. You get a guess for finishing your book and another for being the group member to get us to 20 books read! :DSarah - Jennifer is right. You get a guess for finishing us off on ATY Books and finishing us off on the 2 hours straight task. You also get it for finishing another non-starred category. We can do mystery. :D
It looks like the only group tasks we have left are the page count one and the reading rainbow. Keep those pages coming and those colored covers! We'll continue to get guesses for other other books finished too.
Now... onto the guesses...
Jennifer: E9 = Miss; B7 = Miss
Ed: G1 = Miss; H1 = Hit
Available votes, as of now...Emm - 6 Guesses (Remember, these are open for the team to use. If you want to claim any Emm guesses just tell me that you're using one of mine and where you want to guess.)
Mimmi - 4 Guesses
SamZ - 3 Guesses
J - 2 Guesses
Sarah - 4 Guesses
Jennifer - 2 Guesses
Ira - 3 Guesses
Melanie - 2 Guesses
Lois - 2 Guesses
Total Guesses: 28 Guesses
