RLftCI: Monthly Challenge, November 2016-Fall Into Spring


An oldie from 2013, but one of our favs. We’ve dusted this one off and spruced it up a bit. Enjoy!

Duration: November 1, 2016 - November 30, 2016

Rules: It’s fall in the northern hemisphere and spring in the southern hemisphere! We are going to have a Fall into Spring challenge. Choose your level and then your books from the following categories. You may choose any category more than once. As an update, there’s now a Spell-It-Out Option. Remember, you may replace any spot with a book from one of the Birthday Babes’ Bookshelves.

3-5 - Medium

10 or more - Hardest

Fall:

• Read a book from your top 10 "Most Read Authors."
• Read a book with yellow or orange cover.

• Read a book from new to you authors.
• Read a book with green or pink cover.

Option #2 - Spell-It-Out: Select a word from these items, or one that speaks to you of November, and Spell-It-Out. Read books with titles, series names, authors (first or last name), character (first or last name), that begin with letters that correspond to letters of the word you choose. You may ignore the indefinite and definite articles (a, an, the, etc.).

The Cenotaph is like a Cleopatra's needle type of structure where Queen Elizabeth & family and prime minister lay a wreath of poppies there, and we wear a poppy in our lapel. It's to honour the soldiers/others who died in the first and second World wars. I think they extended it to more recent wars too.

This is what Fall tends to bring to my mind: Talimena National Scenic Byway and driving through the Ouachita National Forest as the leaves change colors. There is another link on the above page that shows the amazing views!

The locals call it the Talimena Drive, so that's what I'm going to use for my November challenge. : )

It's one of the prettiest parts of our State. Imagine going on a trail ride through those forests! They have one annually with a Statewide equestrian group and I have hopes of attending it myself sometime in the future! I need a more seasoned trailer horse (mine is retired) before I attempt the ridges and culverts that we would cross. My friends have told me it's the ride of a lifetime though! It's on my bucket list (about 20 times) LOL!

My youngest will be part of the all night vigil at the local Cenotaph with his cadet squadron for Remembrance Day. My daughter will also be part of the ceremonies with her cadet core although I'm not sure her core does the all night vigil.

I usually watch it on t.v. I get very weepy thinking of my family in the Great War.
