Random Chitchat
I'm so thankful my person is claiming and enjoying her gifts. This is my first year doing this and I'm thankful for a positive experience. For those of you who are having these difficulties— I'm so sorry. Hopefully the missing giftees will suddenly join in the fun. Fingers crossed!!!! ♥♥♥

It happens every year! It is hard to control for, but I try to troubleshoot as we go!

I have shelves with names which I think are pretty self-explanatory (but may not be as clear as I think they are).
want to read - books I haven't read yet, both owned and not owned
read - books I have read, both owned and not owned
books I own but will not read - books that I own more than one edition of, this is the particular edition I won't read (for what ever reason)
books I own - every single physical book I own, both read and not read
books I used to own - books I have given away, most of them read
ebooks I own - every single ebook I own (no matter which format), both read and not read
So if someone was wanting to gift me a book and didn't find anything on my wishlist then they would need to go to my Want to Read shelf and find something there, but at the same time makes sure it's not on my Books I Own shelf.
For me i have to be read and i have my unread kindle shelf the unread kindle are the books i have. I also have a wish list shelf i hope that makes it easier for my s.s.
I really want to ask Secret Santas to be mindful of the format that they are gifting. It's hard when you get a gift you really wanted...but in a format that is less than ideal.

I would look through some wishlists and find a Mary Calmes lover to gift to!

I'm in that position now. My giftee hasn't been here at all and haven't claimed their gifts either. I have messaged several times but nothing. Hopefully everything is okay with them. But I also agree with Angela W. I will wait awhile before sending more gifts.
Heather K (dentist in my spare time) wrote: "I would look through some wishlists and find a Mary Calmes lover to gift to! ."I will look, too, Heather. Thanks for your help!
Do you want to split the list? I will take it from the letter K.
Ok Josy here's the story. There's a little town on the shores of Lake Erie in Ontario called Port Dover. ORIGINS
In 1971 when George Simons gave his son a Rupp minibike, he never dreamt he would be instilling a life-long passion in his son Chris. Chris Simons has since owned several dozen bikes. He knows bikes inside-out and top to bottom. Chris also had a well-known bike shop in Port Dover called 'Biker's Delight'.
The Friday the 13th tradition started in 1981. It was the same year that a group of head-banging teenagers had come together in Los Angeles to form Metallica. Despite a recent assassination attempt, the president of the United States was still Ronald Reagan. Pierre Trudeau was prime minister of Canada, while Bill Davis was premier of Ontario. The Rolling Stones were singing "Start Me Up" and "An American Werewolf in London" was playing in theatres.
Against the backdrop, Chris Simons and approximately 25 friends, through word of mouth, got together at the Commerical Hotel {The Zoo}, now known as Angelos of Dover. It was in November and it was Friday the 13th. They had such a good time they decided they should do it every Friday the 13th. And so the tradition was born.
Every Friday the 13th thereafter, the number of people coming to the event has increased. Chris has a suitcase full of newspaper and magazine clippings regarding Friday the 13th and he has become somewhat of a celebrity because of it. Everywhere he goes, people have heard of Friday the 13th in Port Dover.
Anyways, every Friday the 13th bikers converge on Port Dover by the hundreds from all over North America. Even in the winter, granted at this time of year they don't usually ride their motorcycles but they still go and in the summer it's absolutely unreal. Pretty much anywhere that you go in that area the number of motorcycle clubs heading for PD is ridiculous and while you'd think there would be all kinds of trouble because so many biker clubs in one place is asking for it, nope. They rarely have any problems. It's pretty much a local phenomena.

Oh, that's a great story!! Thanks, for telling me, Karen!
And now you have to continue writing and make this a novel. I mean come on, hot bikers, Friday the 13th... You can work with this, right?

No, I am not an author. I am just a copy and paste from the local newpaper storyteller but maybe we need to find a Canadian m/m author who will spin this for us because seriously you can't tell me all those bikers are straight. There's got to be at least a few who are gay, bi, trans, lesbian, I'm sure the possibilities are endless.
M'rella wrote: "@KarenThanks for the story! You have mad cut and paste skills! =)"
Your welcome and thank you. I've honed them with years of practice ;)
Holy shit! I just looked at a few pics and you weren't kidding! There are really hundreds of bikes and it looks like thousands of people o.oLol, I can't believe it either but even if they were all straight there's always creative writing, right?
Here's some inspiration ;)

Lots of people don't post here, unfortunately. I try to go on Elfster to remind them, but many don't.

I should resent this, coming from DSP. That's like sexist or smth :(I only have penis related toys :( I don't have a penis.

I'm sure they were including penis like/related toys in that statement as well. It's just that sometimes when something gets too wordy it loses it's statement impact.
ah, i see! it def. won't be as much fun if they list all penis related objects. who wants to read, when you can go and use, like they suggested. no one will ever open the actual mail!

Exactly...ok, not quite but let's go with it.
Hi all so its been almost two weeks and my giftee still hasn't claimed her books. I am starting to feel like I wastedmy money I could have bought something i wanted to read.
Angela, I think I messaged your match already but I can try again. I think you can also ask Amazon for a credit if your gifts aren't received.

You are not the only one. I still have hope because mine sent me a message using Elfster on Cyber Monday asking if ARe was ok to get the books, but I haven't heard anything else.
And my giftee claimed the first book I sent using Amazon, but I don't know if they received the ones I sent using ARe. I wonder if they have one of those email addresses that aren't receiving notifications. I did send an Elfster message, but no response yet.

Probably smart. I decided to hold on to the other books I bought till I know my gifts are getting through.
