That would be fun and really Lila, can one ever have too much fun? I think not. Especially if books are involved ;)

Ssshhh! Hush now think of it as a goal to be achieved this year reading them all...all the books. That's the goal for 2017 after all why would we need to eat, sleep, shower or otherwise function? It's all highly over rated. But you are allowed to breath because that doesn't distract from your time reading, ok?

I'm not that good at commitments. I'd probably get distracted by the new pretties, and end the month with more books to read than those read. :-)

~ Lei ~ Reading Is An Adventure ~ (leilanilives2read) | 345 comments I've been shelving the books I've received over the years from the Santa gift exchanges I've participated in into a 'from Secret Santa exchange' https://www.goodreads.com/review/list... and am featuring it on my profile and it sure is a wide variety of books. I'm so thankful to all the wonderful people who've gifted these pressies.

Also by shelving, I'm going to do better and make them a priority read.

You should get an email, at least from Amazon.

Karen (bookfanatic55) | 901 comments Dusti wrote: "Ok- I'm new to this- how do I know when I receive a gift?"

ARe as I'm sure you've already gathered is hit and miss. I've decided I'm going to send an anonymous message through Elfster to anyone that I gift a book from ARe to. I figure even if the person gets a message twice it's better than not at all.

message 177: by Michael (new)

Michael (mgm58) | 19 comments If you send messages through Elfster (Specifically "Mark Gift as Sent") is the message anonymous? I've never used Elfster and not sure how everything works.

As far as I know any message sent through Elfster can be anonymous but I'm sure Heather can confirm this for us, right Heather?

Heather K (dentist in my spare time) (dentistinmysparetime) | 2075 comments Mod
The messages are anonymous, at least the ones that I've sent are!

I thought so mine have always been sent anonymously as well.

message 181: by F. (new)

F. I had a phone call from Amazon last night. It seems since switching my account to Amazon .com.au so I could get KU I have lost the ability to gift books. A.com.au does not have that capability so I can only gift from ARe : (
I will try tonight and see if I can open an account in Hubbie's name.

message 182: by Francesca (new)

Francesca | 23 comments I won't be able to buy any gifts for my SS buddy until next Wednesday when I get paid because I'm a bit too poor this next week, but I will be buying them. I just think people should be aware that if they haven't received anything yet, it doesn't mean that they won't. Their Santa's might be in the same situation I'm in at the moment and might be waiting for payday or Black Friday or something.

True facts Francesca. I know I'm dying to do my gift giving but I'm waiting until Friday or Monday, I'm not sure which maybe it's both. I know ARe does a 50% rebate sale on one or both of those days and it's so worth the wait because I can get so much more to give to my giftee and for those friends that we all want to surprise with a little something as well. So seriously if you haven't gotten any goodies yet hang in there because 'good things come to those who wait'...true facts.

What kind of books do you like normally (sci-fi, fantasy, historical, contemporary)? That will give us a good indication on what to recommend.

message 194: by Lila (new)

Lila Hunter (hunterromances) | 273 comments Michelle wrote: "Ok so I haven't really read a M/M book before. Where do I start? What is your all time fave so I can look into getting it"

That's a really hard question to answer. My recommendation will be to narrow it down to your favorite type/genre and go from there. There are lists for everything, from sports romances, historicals, fantasy, Sci-Fi, etc. Also, you might want to consider the amount of sex you're comfortable with, and the men age group. If you want something sweet, spicy, YA, older characters, and so on. Go with what you normally read, and then, expand from there.

Also, I'd recommend joining the MM Romance Group. It's a great source of information. https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

My all time favorite is Came Upon a Midnight Clear by Katie Porter

So, I've heard ARe will have 25% off on their Black Friday sale and that there maybe is a chance for another sale on Cyber Monday (is that this Monday??) So... Do you shop on Black Friday or do you wait until Monday in the hopes of a 50% sale?

Looking good Josy. I always do the 50% rebate sale. I've never seen a 25% is it off or rebate? but that doesn't mean they aren't going to change it up. It's killing me to wait because I want to give prezzies!!! But it's so worth it in the end.
