When I was reading that book, wanted to know the American history surrounding world wars. Dollar desam will answer my questions. There is a lull right now...so haven't started it...trying to finish the pending books before June readathon!
Burn for me was entertaining and fast paced :) finished it in one day!

WOW!! what is the story of Attagari Kathalu and Asamardhuni Jeevayatra?
me too wanted to know... am so ignorant with respect to those topics.. will try to read more .... i will try to read the first book you mentioned during the readathon month... (view spoiler)
When I was reading, I was thinking about Indian independence struggle that happened at the same time....lot of life losses....plus British agreed to independence only after India agreed to participate in the war against Japan in the land of China. the author wrote the story in such a way that you still keep thinking that Americans disappointed Koreans....like God forsaken the bhakta....
Ini, are you talking about Nilamellam Ratham? My husband is the one who is interested in history. Pa Raghavan changed my perspective....
@independence struggle - thats what came to my mind reading these parts about the korean struggle.. it was really sad right.?@american's abandoninh the koreans - Is the americans really worth the hype the koreans gave? thats what i am wondering...
yes, it's nilamellaam ratham... will try to read it next month..!!
morning kavitha and Hp...Didn't read anything except Living Reed.. 74% now.. Not getting time to read...!
Good evening, buddyReading Update :
Attagari Kathalu - 35%
Asamardhuni Jeevayatra - 40%
Siddhartha - 60%
Hi KavithaAththagari Kathalu is a humorous account of a mother in law and a daughter in law.
Asamardhuni Jeevayatra is the life of a person who is inefficient in everything.
Manju wrote: "@ini: still 9 books in CR? O_O"Just finished Living Reed... So it has reduced to 9 :-P I didn't finish any of my pending books this week and the previous week :-( Will try to reduce a few before readathon starts. But no hopes, as I've to read another bingo book which is for the last week...
Manju wrote: "i say remove everything. new month, new CR. ;)"Nopes.. That would be betrayal to those wonderful(on second thoughts, I don't think English August as wonderful) books..!!!Will try my best ;-) Their presence in CR is a continuous reminder that I need to finish...
@kavitha Finished Living reed... And I would have dozed on this had you not BR-ed with me and finished it before me :-D The clarifications helped as well..
(view spoiler)
Same here, Ini :) If not for your competitiveness, I would have slowed down on the progress as well. I also felt the cliff hanging. Luckily, I know the book to read after this to get my answers. I am very glad to have picked up this book as I didn't know anything about Korea except that the ruler of North Korea is not so wise...After this book, I looked up to see how he become the ruler....his family ruling for a long time....no wonder, inherited the family business....plus I also know now why there was a partition between North Korea and South Korea.
Morning buddy...Read few pages of Jane Eyre and Started The Little Prince.. The prince book is cute :-)
Removed few books from CR shelf:
English August - dropped
All the light we cannot see - This didn't deserve the drag, so lets start it again from the beginning
Promise of Blood - Will read it again some time later
Now will focus on the paperbacks one by one..!!!
Buddy... My readathon list is completed.. :-D left 1 book for wild card slot.. Filled the remaining with Bingo books ;-) 14 books and 1 wild card slot + 2 compulsory books..!!
Noon buddy...My readathon progress:
12 % done in Dragon Reborn
1% done in A suitable boy
Non -readathon progress:
15% done in WOR restart
What about u?
Morning buddy...I started Jaya: An Illustrated Retelling of the Mahabharata for the Bingo Indian challenge... Do you want to join as well? 20% and I'm liking it very much.. All those background stories of the characters in MAhabharatha are interesting and some are new to me..
Finished Fight club, and you can check my review :-P
Finished another historical romance as well with manu.
Reading Dragon reborn and Jaya currently.. Started A suitable boy and was at 1.5% or so.. It seems to be an easy read, but still will need time as well i guess.. I got Hindi serial vibes when reading this one :-P
I've added Turn Coat, our next dresden book for the readathon.. Can we read it next week buddy? Let me know, I want to BR this...
Good evening buddyI'm around 30% in The Death of Ivan Ilyich

Are you liking Death of ivan ilych? ?How's a Suitable boy going?
7% in suitable boy. I am pressed to read for another challenge....so this book is at the back. I got the audiobook, but it seems to be condensed, cinematic version. so ditching that.HP, you ever visit your thread without others prompting? :) Have you finished the telugu books? How come I don't see your book updates?!?!

This buddy of mine has become so lethargic these days Kavitha... Otherwise I used to get atleast an update message everyday.. Let's see when he sees this and posts a reply.. I'm not going to prompt him ..!
😮Buddy I was busy with a project, buddy 😥😥 That's why I wasn't reading much. Today I'll promise to read a lot and give you a big update
Suitable Boy is really quick for it's size. I don't know how a book can be this long and still be this pacy.
Ivan Ilyich is going good so far.
Kavitha : I used to come and update before buddy for the last month, but last few days have been hectic :'(
You need not give a big update buddy.. I just wish you would give some update here.!!! Gone are the days when you used to discuss books and I was the only who was silent..!!
Reg Suitable boy.. I didn't read after the first day.. may pick up during the weekend if possible..!
Good morning buddyI'm around 70% in The Death of Ivan Ilyich
Around 20% in A Monster Calls
Reached 15% in A Suitable Boy.. This is still pacy, buddy :O
Morning buddy...Seems you may finish A suitable boy :-O All the best..!!! It does seem to be a light and pacy book...
How is Monster calls?
I'm in 70% in Jaya///

Nope. Nopity Nopity Nope. How many pages have you read so far buddy? 224? I'm still zero.. Will finish atleast two books, today
Good to see the race :) Your raving about Jaya...wants me to read it now....Will pick up next month :)
Morning buddy and Kavitha..@Kavitha, I sure liked Jaya very much... Lot's of stories, and a balanced narration.. The Author didn't align towards any of the characters.. Unlike palace of illlusions..!
I read two books by Devdutt...Shikhandi and Other Stories They Don't Tell You Sita: An Illustrated Retelling of the Ramayana. I love his writing style!
