you put I don't care... :-| FYI, you already gave me heavy books only..!! for the challenge..!!!

you told Fight club is heavy read here ;-| :-P I didnt say they would be bad though..!
Hajarath Prasad wrote: "Manu : Wokay.. But why do you want to read something so light? :/ Read heavy books like Fight Club, Cuckoo book etc na 😊"
am reading Wolf Hall and it is VERY HEAVY.
am reading Wolf Hall and it is VERY HEAVY.
@ini: will you resume/start Great Hunt this week? I checked my progress today and am around 56%...

By the way read Midnight's Children someday, pleech? It won Booker Of Bookers ^_^

I'll resume it after finishing WoK??? I think WoK will move fast... ;-) may be wednesday or so... go slowly till that na...

Kaladin - Liked him very much from the beginning and the way he lead and inspired confidence in the Bridge men was amazing. Loved syl even more and the way she supported and motivated kaladin.. His atttempts to escape the bridgemen and the way he trained them to be soldiers, the fight with parshendi and encounter with Dalinar.. I loved all his POV's. But he seemed to kill or attack the shardbearers easily na... Compared to the others. Shardbearers are supposed to be invincible if I'm right..! But maybe his magical capabilities or the power with stormlight makes him lucky.. I still don't understand that clearly, I will need a reread to understand better
Shallan - Did she kill her father? What was that about? I was shocked. A boring character in the beginning, her transformation was huge towards the end of the book.. The way she realized about Jasnah, and the way she tackled her, made me like her towards the end..
Dalinar - A real man of honor.. His frustrations and misunderstanding about his visions were slightly boring, but the transformation towards the last 40% was amazing.. Turning over his beloved Shardblade to Sadeas who betrayed him - for a bunch of bridgemen - was well not very realistic.. But this is Dalinar, who will do anything for honor.. His encounter with Elholkar was what I liked the best :-D Hope Dalinar becomes more like that in the next book.
Szeth - I hated this guy.. even though he was supposed to be truthless, and obey whomsoever has the oathstone.. How can he commit so many murders. I absolutely hated this guy
Sadeas - the character I hated the most.
Adolin - Liked his concerns for his father, even though most of his judgements have been hasty.
Overall I liked the world, and It was really massive..!!
To think that the King of Kharbranth was behind all the murders was shocking..!
I wonder how Dalinar will unite the Knight Radiants..!

Spoilers Ahead :
I loved the book equally buddy, if not more :D At times the narrative seemed sluggish because of the carefully explained magic system and world building and all those interludes, but the latter half more than made up for it. Easily one of the best books I've ever read
Kaladin is the quintessential Brandon Sanderson who comes up through pain, suffering, loss, and still has enough humanity in himself. His parts are the best portions in the book. His moments of self doubt, and pain are extremely touching and made us root for him when he finally breaks all the shackles.
Syl provides the necessary light moments and easily the most adorable character I've ever read ^_^ Tien is superb too. I felt like crying when he was picked by Roshone.
Dalinar and his life very inspiring and his choices despite being addled by visions and doubts are flawless. Adolin reminds me of Sonny from Godfather :D
I liked Shallan by the end of the book. Loved Jasnah. Her composure is <3
Odium's final vision, Wit's chapters, Dalinar giving up Oathbringer for Bridge Four, Kaladin strung up during high storm are my most favorite moments in the book, apart from the superbly written action sequences 😍
Will write a review tonight, buddy
The biggest accomplishment of the book is that it packs in enough moments to keep us interested and also paves way for the next books by teasing about certain intriguing plot points
I hope this series becomes better and better as it goes on and on.
Brandon Sanderson is as good as GRRM in his own way ^_^

Agreed with almost everything buddy.. Me too loved Wit's scenes.. Earlier it didn't make much sense but later..! He is really witty..!!
Shall we start Words of Radiance in May 1?

Why didn't this Brandon Sanderson start writing earlier? > < He should've finished at least 5 books of Stormlight Archives

Why didn't this Brandon Sanderson start writing earlier? > < He should've finished at least 5 books of Stormlight Archives"
Ha true yeah... The wait is going to be agony.. for the future books..!!!!

Kaladin is like Vin's elder brother in some sense. Both were poor, treated badly by society and used for their magical powers. While Vin was self-centered initially, Kal was exactly opposite. Always ready to help anyone and everyone. No matter how hard he tried hating g nobility or people who did him wrong, he never actually hated them. Only exception was Amaram...
His time at Bridge Four was one of the best part of the book for me. Always sacrificing for his men. Good to see that he was not so trustful after he was branded as slave.
And I think because of all these qualities Syl chose him.
Shallan was so boring in the start, specially all those books and their thesis used to put me to sleep. But on the reread things changed, Shallan was not dull anymore. Perhaps part of the reason that I enjoyed her PoV on reread more because I knew what she became in book two. So it was a treat to watch her transformation from a timid lighteyes to what she was achieved in WoR.
Dalinar simply was boring in first half, even on a reread. His visions gave me headache the first time as they made no sense to me. I liked him better in second half. Poor guy was trying so hard to unite the princes. And the others just snubbed or backstabbed him at first opportunity. Giving Oathbringer for Bridge Four made me love him more.
Adolin - not a very significance presence in this book but that guy is a gem and a keeper.

I hope we will see more of Adolin in WoR and hope he matures in his decisions :-P

10% in illicit happiness of other people.. Will start Great hunt today..

I think had Kal being a surgeon instead of a soldier even then he would be some other kind of Radiant.... perhaps a healer...
you will definitely see more of Adolin in WoR and Oathbringer. :)

Careful before trusting Dalinar Blindly... With Amaram, he was cheated right,,!

may be,,. Radiant's capabilities are not inherent is it? It depends upon the situations?

Started English, August: An Indian Story today. Thoughts so far: BIZARRE. I'm not entirely comfortable with the narrative or the scenarios depicted, but I can relate with the India (and her people) Chatterjee paints. What is going to be intriguing to read about is (view spoiler)
I'll halt here for the day :) Looking forward to your thoughts!

Hi Shar, I've just started this.. Will post my thoughts later..

30% done in illicit happiness.. It's a disturbing story where father researches why his son committed suicide..! Many relatable childood moments, but it's still disturbing to read about suicides.. Reading this with intervals...
3% done in Great Hunt..
Started reading English August..
Will be read these three books and The Viscount Who Loved Me with manu.
Manu and syl are reading a short mystery book for the weekend.. Time to Murder and Create. It's 180 pages or so. Can we join?

Started Scudder#2 today and will make some progress ...
Apart from this, was roaming around during weekend, and immersed son in a kids swimming pool :-|:-P Overall a tiring weekend.

AT 13% (and spoilers are for thoughts on everything before this mark):
Haha he comes off as the typical apathetic Gen-Xer (?) I think. (view spoiler)
His apathy is really getting to me. But I seem to be holding on only because my generation (or is it just me?) can relate to this feeling at some level. We are all a bit like Agastya Sen, looking for an escape but to where, who knows?
Not sure how you feel about this, Ini?

Well said Shar... I'm able to understand that he doesn't like it there, and he wonders whether that's what he wanted in life.. I do feel a lot like that in my current job ;-) and so will most of our generation, unless they are pursuing their passion..!! Maybe that's the only reason I'll try to tolerate his rants and activities and give a chance to this book..!! But regarding your spoiler, Don't you think it's sort of exaggerated reaction from him?
And I'm at 13% as well ;-)

First one was matthew scudder #2, and It was rather short read... I didn't guess the killer correctly, and I liked the pace of the story.. This was manu-syl's BR and I just bumped into.. Lets join for the next books buddy if possible.
Second was Illicit happiness of other people. I didn't mean to finish this one yesterday, but after my kid woke me up at 11, I just resumed reading from 50% and It was Unput-downable.. So Just continued and finished.. 5 starrer :-D I'm happy that I'm reading nice Indian novels this year.
Read about 5 pages in DC today morning.. Steerforth is back :-|
Started Norse Mythology yesterday and One story done.., I'm in love with the paperback :-D Planning to read atleast one story everyday... This was for cover challenge with manu... Please start it soon buddy, so that we can discuss here.. I just started early bcos I'll be reading in paperback...
Will start Burn for me today evening - BR with manu in FBR... and will start Tom sawyer as well because I want to read :-) Do you want to read Tow sawyer?

yes... :-| Indian slightly grown up version of Catcher in the Rye... open this spoiler ;-) (view spoiler)

I'm not sure, the Introduction made the same comparison, but I haven't read Catcher in the Rye, so I don't know 🙈
P.S. Your spoilers rubbing off on Ini too 😂 Well done, Ini 🙌🏾

Well, that's the Indian fiction coming into play, over dramatising everything hehehe
I think I'll like this book.
Will read it next month
