Hi Emma! First of all, I just wanna tell you that I loved every single book you've written and they are all so close to my heart! My question is would be: When you write, do you make an outline or plot first, or do you just get on with it and see where your ideas take you?

Hello Emma!! I've one read, loved and adored your Tangled series so much! ! The romcom elements are what drew me to read them in the first place.. Drew and Kate's dynamic was sizzling hot! Loved how much I laughed and hearted these characters! Then there's Dee and Matthew! I loved their tale! But back to my question, I couldn't be more excited about a book in a new trilogy as I am with Royally Screwed! First of all this cover and the design on it is simply spectacular. . I'll get both the ebook and paperback on this one! I wanted to ask you about your new trilogy, what inspired you to write about Royals? How much of their lush and rich world will we see inside the book? Will it leave us on a dreaded cliffhanger? Are all three books based on him or does he have siblings? Thank you for doing this Q&A! Hi, Emma! I haven't read all your books but from the ones I have read, Sustained is my favourite. It's actually one of my favourite books ever. I loved all the kids and the relationship they had with Jake.That's why I wanted to ask about your experience writing the book and which parts were your favorite to write.
I was wondering if any of the characters in your books are based on people you know in real life. And do you do research to write your books?
Do the male POVs and humor all come within you or are you surrounded by funny people and situations all the time to get this sort of brilliant inspiration?

Also, I admire an author who can write from only a male's POV and nailed the story just perfectly. How are you able to write male's pov so perfectly without really needing to get on the female pov?

Hello Emma! I have to say 'Sustained' is one of my all-time favorite books! Hi Emma! First, I just wanna say I absolutely love your books! So my question is what type of genre do you usually go for when reading?
Hi Emma,I first read your legal brief series and fell in love with your writing instantaneously, Then I wanted more of your writing and found your Tangled Series. I loved both series. Your brilliant and an amazing author. You are one of my Top 5 authors and automatic buy for new release. Sustained and Sidebarred are my go to after I finished a very emotional books. I haven't been able to find a book written just like the way you wrote Jake Becker & The McQuaids, hilarious and so much fun to read. I can't even tell you how many times I read both series, one too many.
I have a few questions but I'm hoping I'll meet you someday soon so I can ask more. So here's what I have right now.
1. Are you fan Of "Rocky" the movies? they were mentioned in two of your books.
2. Are you a Catholic or did you go to a Catholic School, religion was mentioned in both series. (this doesn't really matter)
3. I think you also mentioned a song of Air Supply, are you a fan?
4. What was your inspiration when you created your characters? I love all of them except Dolores, can you believe that?!
Anyway, this is it for now. I am looking forward to "Royally Screwed! and more power to you.

Thank you so much! Although RomCom is my favorite, I have an idea for a romantic thriller that I swear, one day will be written. I've also toyed with the idea of writing a horror novel because I love curling up with a good scary book when it's dark and stormy outside.
PS - Drew says, of course he's your fave - that's really the only acceptable opinion to have ;)

Hi! Thanks for the great question. When I first started the Tangled series, the hardest scenes to write were the love scenes - because, except for Twisted, they were all in the male POV. I found it challenging b/c I wanted the scenes to be sensual and emotional, but still in keeping with they guy's voice. With time, these scenes have gotten easier for me and I feel like I have a good balance between the descriptive, the emotional and the sexy. Now I sometimes struggle with scenes that have a lot of internal thoughts - mostly b/c I personally love to read and write dialogue.

Hi! Thank you!! I have more fun writing the male POV b/c it's just as entertaining for me as it is for you, lol. It doesn't feel like the words are coming from me, but more like the guy character is just borrowing my fingers to type the words - which makes the writing really fresh and free and unpredictable :)

Thank you so much - that makes me sooo happy!! When I write I have the whole story outlined in my head already, though sometimes little changes are made during the actual writing. When I first get an idea for a story it's the beginning and the ending scenes that are most clear to me (dialogue too), and then I sort of fill in the chapters in-between on how the character got from point A to point B.

I don't consciously base my characters on any real people, but subconsciously, they always seem to get in there. For example, my little sister used to say "bagina" when she was small (just like Mackenzie, Drew's niece in Tangled) but I didn't remember that until after Tangled had already been published! Also, I'll notice little quirks, mannerisms and similarities in my characters and their conversations to people I've talked with, grown up with, know and love - but again - it's not while I'm actually writing, but after.
Hello,Reading the Tangled series I realised that even though you are a woman, you have potrayed the male mind quiet perfectly, in my mind. How do you do that? I've read other male pov's before, but either they are too much of an asshole or too much of a lady. Yours was just on point.
Also, do you believe that people can change? Or do they just change perspectives?

Hi! Not so much rituals, but I definitely sleep less when I'm in the middle of writing a book (when a good idea hits, you have to go with it, even if it's at midnight, lol). And I tend to associate certain scenes or chapters with certain songs that put me in the same emotional mindset as what's going on in that scene and I'll listen to that song over and over again while writing it (this drives my kids crazy, fyi). Then, when it's finished, I'll move onto another scene and another song.

I'm so thrilled with the story and love the characters and really think you're going to just adore them too!! 1) I was inspired to write about royals, b/c it's such an elite and unique group - a different and interesting type of celebrity. I was very intrigued by the idea of these twenty-something characters, growing up in today's age of social media and technology, but who are bound by these older rules and traditions. 2) We see quite a bit of the luxury and privilege of the royal world, but there's a great mix of realism to it - and normalcy too. 3) Nope - no cliffhanger, never. 4) Each book focuses on a different couple. Royally Screwed is Nicholas and Olivia's story, Royally Matched and Royally Endowed are other character's stories that you'll first meet in RS - but each of the books can really be read as stand-alones.

Thank you so much - I had an amazing time writing Tangled so it makes me very happy to know you had a great time reading it! The inspiration for Drew's POV primarily came from the group of guys I was close friends with growing up. They were very funny, terrific friends who were very "Drew-like" in the conversations and experiences I had with them through the years. A little bit of each of them went into Drew (he's my own little Frankenstein, lol) and I think that's why he turned out to be so charming and loveable, infuriating and funny for so many readers (and for me too, lol).

I actually have outlines written for Mackenzie, Rain (Dee and Matthew's son) and James' (Drew and Kate's son) books. Though I'm focusing on the Royal series this year and in the beginning of 2017 - I will definitely be revisiting the Tangled world at some point. xo

Some of my favorites were - the first scene between Jake and the Judge (I cried! A lot!) because it showed a naturally caring and nurturing side to Jake and explained how he turned out to be the really great guy he actually is. I loved every scene between Jake and the kids (when Jake first meets Rory, the piano teacher scene and when Regan says his name are some of my favorites) because the playful, loving and sometimes frustrating spirit of my own children inspired every one. Sustained is a special book for me - I can't think of a single thing I would change about it :)

Hi Emma, as an absolute New Adult Junkie, I'd love to know if you'd ever base a series in college? I know you write about slightly older character and I'm obsessed with your work. But I think you'd work some kinda magic on the plain old college romance :)

Yes, most of the research I do for my books takes place before I start writing - so I have a general background of the world my characters are in (for example, I read a lot of info about how the DC court system works before I started writing the LB series). Then, as I'm writing, I'll leave notes for myself to double check the accuracy of certain points, if I'm not sure.
Hi! Hope you're having a fabulous day! Have you ever thought of writing more about the legal briefs crew? Maybe on Brent's daughter and jakes son or Stanton's and Sophia's?
