Thank you so much - it's such a joy to know you've enjoyed my stories! The majority of my reading is spent with historical romance and light/funny contemporary romance. Sometimes I'll venture into a dark contemp. romance, but I really have to be in the right frame of mind for it. And every once in a while I'll go for a horror novel (almost always Stephen King).

Hi Vrsha!
It was always my dream to be a writer, even when I was young. I understood that it was a field that can be difficult to make a living doing, so sometimes I'd imagine it as my "side job" - but it was something I always envisioned myself doing.

Hi! Thank you so much for your questions and for reading my stories! They give me such joy to write, it's just so wonderful to know they give you joy to read too! As for your questions, here we go:
1. Are you fan Of "Rocky" the movies? they were mentioned in two of your books.
Yes. I enjoy a good Rocky movie any day - but funnily, it was my dad who was a really big fan of the series and Sylvester Stallone (when I was growing up we had a dog named Butkus, which was Rocky's dog's name in the films).
2. Are you a Catholic or did you go to a Catholic School, religion was mentioned in both series. (this doesn't really matter)
Yes. I am Catholic, in a very Catholic family and I did go to twelve long years of Catholic school. It obviously left an impression ;)
3. I think you also mentioned a song of Air Supply, are you a fan?
I am!! My taste in music is crazy eclectic (everything from showtunes to classical to rap/pop/rock/easy listening) and usually depends on what I'm writing at the moment. Music really helps me get into the right frame of mind and is an inspiration for many scenes in my stories.
4. What was your inspiration when you created your characters? I love all of them except Dolores, can you believe that?!
All of my characters are the kind of people I would want to hang out with in real life - and each of them have little traces here and there of people I have known. What I strive for, always, is that they be entertaining, relatable and realistic (even when we want to smack them). Delores is a hit or miss with many readers - but I think she'd be an interesting friend to have around :)

So hard to pick just one!!! But - I'm going to say Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and Gentle Rogue by Johanna Lindsey. If I was stuck on a desert island, those are the books I'd want with me. xo

Emma Chase | 137 comments Vandana wrote: "Hi Emma!

What is your writing process?"

Hi Vandana,
Although I really try and stick to a schedule/daily word count, I tend to be a binge writer - which means I'll write furiously and non-stop for a few days and then not touch the manuscript for a few days. When I come up with an idea for a story, the ending is usually the clearest to me, and then the beginning...over time I fill in the space in the middle with how the character got from point A to point B. I usually have the entire story laid out in my head (sometimes on paper) before I start writing and usually, except for a few tweaks, my books come out pretty close to how I first envision them. I love to revise a scene, polish it up over and over again - and that is usually when the best/funniest lines come to me.

Reading the Tangled series I realised that even though you are a woman, you have potrayed the male mind quiet perfectly, in my mind. How do you do that? I've read other male pov's before, bu..."

Hi! Thank you!! I grew up with a group of really great guy friends who were funny and loyal and selfish and immature (basically Drew-like), and being around them so much let me kind of slip into the guy mindset when I'm writing. In a good way, they warped my way of thinking, lol - on our first date, my husband told me, 'you don't think like a normal girl'
As for do I believe if people can change. I think habits can be broken, or started for that matter - I think opinions and perspectives can be revised and altered - but...I think those essential qualities that really make us who we are, those knee-jerk reactions and tendencies - no, those don't change.

Emma Chase | 137 comments JMV wrote: "Thank for making me laugh which I always seem to do reading your books. Did you ever think about writing movies? Your charaters alway s seem like someone I'd like to watch in a TV series or movie."

Hey JMV,
Well, thank you!! I would love to write a movie or for a tv show, but being an author fits so well into my life - being able to be home with my kids, etc - it's my dream job. What I'd really LOVE is for one of my books to be made into a film/tv show - I want to see Drew Evans on that couch with the flu SO bad!!
Best,
Emma

I LOVED the references to Brazil in The Legal Briefs Seies. Thank you! =*

message 109: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (mocrane) Hey Emma,

I was wondering... which novel did you enjoy writing the most?

message 110: by bookislife (new)

bookislife | 1 comments Hi Emma, love love love your books. It's one of my go to books when i'm feeling down or during rainy season. Just want to ask and I know it could be a long shot, but have you considered giving Brent's cousin, Katherine her HEA?
Fo some reason, she did leave an impression on me and every time i re-read Appealed (3x already), i can't help but wish for her to have a happy ending.

Thanks again

The scene where Regan says his name is one of my favourites! Honestly, the book is perfect. No changes necessary.

Lara Danielle (laraceres14) | 22 comments Hi, Ms. Chase! :) As someone who also writes stories in my free time, I am curious about your writing process. How do you develop your story or plot? Do you write outlines or have diagrams for the story and character development? Or do you just write and let the story unravel for itself? :)

message 117: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shannonvm) Hi Emma, thanks for taking the time to answer all these questions!
I tried to go back through and read them all, so I hope I'm not duplicating a quesiton here, but is there a genre that you really couldn't ever see your self writing?

message 118: by Run (new)

Run | 2 comments Hi, my question is what inspired you to become an author? Had you always wanted to become an author?

message 119: by Amber (new)

Amber (amccalli) Your books sound amazing!! How do you come up with the ideas for your books?

message 120: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (ljustice1981) | 2 comments Hi Emma! To start with, I'm a huge fan of your Legal Briefs series. When writing these wonderful characters, did you feel like something from their story was left untold in the end?

message 121: by Andie (new)

Andie (nandie) | 80 comments Hi, Emma :)

Thank you for hanging out with us :)

Out of all your male characters, who would you marry and why? :)

message 122: by Amber (new)

Amber Sanchez | 2 comments Hi Emma! I love all your books and am a big fan! I wanted to ask you how you pick a premise for a book. Do you just go with anything that you really want to write about or do you try to do something that is unique? I understand some authors don't want to write about millionaires because it's been done so much, but I'm interested to know your thought process. Thank you!

message 123: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (sidekicka7x) Hi Emma!!
Your books are amazing ❤

My question is:
Is there a certain type book you want to write, besides the type you currently have published, but are afraid or nervous to approach the subject?

message 124: by Magdalena (new)

Magdalena Szabelska (magdalenaszabelska) Hi Emma!

You are one of my favorite authors. Thank you for all this fantastic books. Now the question:

If you could colaborate with aby other author who would you choose and why?

message 125: by Nikki (new)

Nikki | 1 comments Hi Emma!!

I love love your books!

My question is: Will you be doing a virtual signing this 2016 or even next year?

I'm planning to save up to order signed books of yours but a book signing would really be awesome. :) Hope you can visit the Philippines someday so I can go hug you and meet you! Thank you!

message 128: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 4 comments I actually have two questions...
1. Out of all of your male characters, who is your favorite?
2. What is your favorite book of all time?

message 129: by Anna (new)

Anna (ajsem) | 1 comments Hi Emma!

I REALLY loved the Tangled series and wanted to know if you plan to write a novella in the future so we can catch up with the Tangled crew or maybe do a spin off with the kids. I fell in love with Mackenzie the moment I was introduced to her.

Thanks for the chance!

message 130: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Lack (goodreadscombarbara_lack) Hi Emma,
Typically how long does it take for you to write a book?

message 131: by LaGina (new)

LaGina HI!!! When you are writing do you go with the "dont bother me I'm in my groove" silent mode or do you like to have music playing in the back ground? And if you do listen to music what kind do you like. And have you ever made one of your characters someone that has wronged you and just let them have it in your book?
Thank you
LaGina

message 132: by Nickie (new)

Nickie Adler | 4 comments Hey Emma, I have to say that you are the queen of male POV! Please don't ever change this! How did you come to this decision when you started writing, because it is genius!

I just have to say that the picture of you on the back cover of your books does not do you justice. You are really beautiful, I know since I've met you at the last two RT Conventions. Thanks for taking the time to answer questions from your fans!

I love listening to music, especially when I read. If you could describe your new book in a song, what would it be?

Thanks!! Angela

Sofia Lazaridou (sofiagreycullensalvatore) | 2 comments Hi. Aside from Royally Screwed, what do you plan on giving us next?

message 137: by Ana Sofia (new)

Ana Sofia (anasofiapinho14) Hi! First of all, I love all your books and I think you're an amazing author <3. Now for the questioning part: Have you considered writing from a female point of view as a first option? The whole book and not just some scenes. And why do you usually write your books from the guy's prespective? Just curious!

message 138: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Emma, I'm curious if you get to sit in on the yummy photo shoots for your book covers? Do you get to choose the models?... I can only imagine the hardship you go through if you do. ;)

message 139: by Kristian (new)

Kristian Erdmann (kristianerdmann) | 2 comments Out of all the characters you have wrote about, which do you feel the closest connection to?

message 140: by Stacy (new)

Stacy You've written plenty of books by now. When you're not writing, do you have a go to author or genre you look into reading?

message 141: by Elena (new)

Elena Llanez | 2 comments wow so awesome to be able to ask you the question I've dying to ask you since I read Tangled. I'm sure you've been asked this before but the thing I LOVE most about your books is the male POV you put in your books. You do it so well I just wondered how your able to sound so, for lack of better word, male or guyish? You have right on in every book and its what makes your characters so adorable, even when they're acting like pigs. When they love, they love so hard it still doesn't take away from their manly mojo. Lol.

message 142: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Mederos Hi Emma! I have loved every single character you bring to life with your writting. If you had to choose just one as your favorite who would it be?

message 143: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (bookworm66) Sustained is my all-time favorite of yours! #JakeBeckerIsMine Do you envision creating any future books about his and Chelsea's children? Their personalities are intriguing and each child has a unique voice!

message 144: by Marsha (new)

Marsha (pinkelliefents) | 11 comments Writing from a male POV and being female yourself... do you ever have to ask a man's advice about certain things, to see if the character's thoughts are what a man may actually think? I think it's fun to read from a man's perspective, but often times, it's so obvious a woman was the one writing.

message 145: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1 comments Hi, Emma! I adore your books!! Can't wait for Royally Screwed! (sorry, I've just had a fan moment...) I would like to know if it is - or ever was - difficult to write male characters, to be inside their heads. They are so real to me that I wonder... Best of luck with your new series!

message 146: by Kissa (new)

Kissa what was the worst job you've had, did it influence any experiences in your books?

message 147: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Melo (sheila_melo) I love your male POV. What got you interested in writing from that perspective?

message 148: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Herman | 1 comments I have not had the pleasure to read any of your books yet. I was wondering where your ideas come from for your books? Margaret Herman

message 149: by Emma (new)

Emma Chase | 137 comments Deeps wrote: "Emma, if you were to re-organise your couples (across your series) for fun, what couples would you create?! :)
Oh by the way, I'm such a fan :) I love Sustained <3"

Hi Deeps,
What an interesting question! I've thought about if for a while, but sadly I have a boring answer: I can't imagine my characters being with any other characters than the ones they end up with - it's blasphemous, lol! But truly, with the mix of personalities, I think some of the possible combinations (Drew & Delores for instance) would end up killing each other, lol. Thanks so much for reading - thrilled that you loved Sustained as much as I do! :)
