Anytime!

I know it's all a bit confusing at first, but the best is to not overthink things.

Ghost in the Stacks Okay, I am a little lost, snuck on at work here...what do you all need me to read?

No. They just have to be finished by the end of the two weeks this challenge will take or they will not count for Battleship tasks.

message 657: by Alexandria (new)

Alexandria | 149 comments Okay I'll read a YA book. That way I will probably have it done by monday and I can get a new task. Also I take it we didn't sink any ships? Which probably means that E2 is also a hit.

Snowtulip | 4679 comments Good catch Alexandria, we have at least one pick for Monday :)

Keep bringing that battleship wit!!
We will make a note of that :-) Because no, we haven't sunk any ships.

message 664: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments Good call, or it could be D1 the other way too

I'm sure I remember reading that there will never be a T or L either so that's handy to know.

message 665: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments Ugh so Hit for fantasy could be a problem for me, I can definitely do the YA and maybe find a Sci fi for the other 2

They are Alexandria, the first one took me about 25% before I became hooked and then I couldn't stop!

The first one is really good, yes. Takes a bit to get into the book and to take a liking to the main character, but definitely good.
Then again, I'm biased. I love Maas' writing :-) I already really enjoyed the Throne of Glass series.

Snowtulip | 4679 comments So I'll start listening to A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4) by George R.R. Martin on my commute tomorrow...unfortutely they are doing extensive construction on my route to work...so I'm usually sitting in my car for too long (down to one lane)...so I might finish the book ;)

Ok, at least a few chapters!

message 672: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13730 comments Mod
The post I linked earlier (this one on the first page of the thread) shows the tasks, who can potentially read for which task.

I have bolded those names who have already stated that they're going to start with a book for a specific task just so we can make sure that every square has 2 books to cover the task.

message 675: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments Well I might not be the big chunky monkey readers like you, but I can take the YA and I'm debating a big old Sci Fi that Tamika recommended with 906 pgs, I'm still thinking about that one though lol

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments Okay, I read the sample to ST book. Nope not going to read that. Lol.

Which book V?

message 677: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments Lol

It's that Fallocaust one T, not sure yet though, read a few reviews and they are all a bit mehh

message 678: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments That looked good V! It's not available on audio is it?

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments Do you read dark, twisted messed up things? It's hard to read.

I just don't want you to read it and then start cursing me out because it's a complete mind fuck.

message 680: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments It looks like we will have all spots covered with at least the 2 book minimum except for the dead authors. It's a miss. Do we care?

message 681: by K~Terror (new)

I know Tamika, it was free, so it sits waiting for someone else to love it ;)

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments K~Terror wrote: "Love the mind fucks!"

Well y'all go ahead and read it.

Lol. I'll hold hands when you guys need it.

message 684: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments I loves a mind fook but I'm thinking can I actually read a 900 pager without having the audio as backup lol

message 685: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments K what was Gated like?

okay for YA I'm going to read All the bright places 400 pages

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments I'm trying to think if I want sacrifice all my big books in the beginning. It's a 6 month challenge, and we need all the big ones we can get.

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 1422 comments V Nerd wrote: "I loves a mind fook but I'm thinking can I actually read a 900 pager without having the audio as backup lol"

They aren't on audio, and for good reason. I wouldn't want to here that stuff in my ears.

message 688: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments I think you would like Gated. Thought it was more sci fi dystopian but it's not. It was kind of an original story for me so was pleasantly surprised. Writing wasn't annoying and moved pretty quick.

message 689: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments Now my curiosity is really piqued on that book Tamika!

Maybe I should start it tomorrow and give myself the full battleship time to read it in between audios..

message 690: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments I definitely want to read The Witching Hour again sometime during Wobble!

message 691: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments Hmm Ezi told me about the Psy Changeling series, the 1st one is tagged Sci Fi and Fantasy so I might try that one........gahhhh

Trying to think of books and watch that creepy sh*t American Horror Story, it's just getting weirder every week!!!!!

message 692: by VNerdbooks (last edited Jun 16, 2016 03:53PM) (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments Soooo

My 1st will be Dangerous Lies by Becca Fitzpatrick 400 pgs
MPG - Young Adult

I think I can do pretty much all of them except F2 and E9

message 693: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments Haha! I liked the psy changing series until I burned out on them. I should probably try again and see if I just needed a break.

I'll probably start with my 3rd in a series book then since all "hits" have 2 people starting there and my book is Fallout by Ellen Hopkins and is like 650 pages. I'm hoping to download it tonight when I have wifi so will be ready to rock n roll tomorrow.

message 694: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments You changed your YA book already V! Lol!

message 695: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments Ahh yes Hopkins is always good for these challenges!!!! I forgot about those!!!

*goes off to check*

Yeah I'll probably change it again lol

Yes it is, I downloaded it 2 days ago when I got the loan, But I am trying to finish up The Half Blood Prince, which I am hoping to finish tonight, so I can start fresh in the morning for Wobble.

We do have 7 days to complete right? I am guessing it should take 4 to 5 days for me.
8hours of work
1hour of lunch
1hour commute in morning
1.25-commute in eventing

....so at least 11 plus hours a day.
That is not counting my ironing in the morning, or my shower at night...(which I only do if my husband is not home, cause he makes fun of me for it), and sometimes I will listen while cooking...especially for challenges like this, with a time frame.

Ghost in the Stacks So a few questions...

*Are we playing against one team or all teams? Meaning for Battleship, it could be any teams boats we are sinking.

*Can we bank books? If I read say, Sally Buys An Elephant, which doesn't work for a task now, can we save it for another task later on?

message 699: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments lol you sound like me Abbie, I get up an hour earlier than everyone else so I can listen to mine, then an hour to work, and then an hour on the way home.
Bath time is at least an hour and a half as I keep topping the water up !!

message 700: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5097 comments We are playing against the Mods so even if we looked at everyone else's spreadsheets it wouldn't make a difference.

I'm sure if you don't finish a book for battleships but do finish it in the next challenge then that would count, but you obviously wouldn't get points in this game..........BUT I need to double check that so don't take it as gospel.
