I also noticed for the Markhors that 1 person read 2 books for a single round in Distance. Thought that was contrary to the rules too....? They got all the points for the round though. Weird and vaguely unsettling.

I apologize for not checking in sooner but had some personal issues come up this weekend that kept me away from reading 8-( but I am off work tomorrow and hope to have my current book finished by then.
Seems like we are now getting a lot of "O"s so maybe you want me to find a "G"? I just want to make sure I am doing something to contribute since I can't read as fast as most of the team :/.
And so are we not planning to re-spin at all? What about books already read that won't work for DRAGON?
Have a good day all!
GO PANDAS!!

So haven't looked at this thread all day. :( I'm going to dig in now but my brain is kind of mushy, so forgive me if I miss something or don't catch up completely. I'll look it over with fresh eyes in the morning.
The good news is that a mushy brained Kazen sometimes writes weird, funny things! Let's see how this goes....

Half Wild by Sally Green
Date: 24/7/16
There's a chapter named pink, but I'm not sure if that'll count, so here's a sentence with 2 ..."
Nice work! I'm not sure if the chapter named pink would work, either, so I'm glad it's in a sentence, too. :)

I hate that! But even knowing the what, it can be worth it to read the "how" sometimes, you know? Even if it's heartbreaking :(

Nope! Just add books you read to your shelves and let us know about it. The chance that we'll be able to fit them in somewhere is very high. Once you finish your class and things get back to normal you can return to being your goal-orientated reading self. :)

Directly to the O-bank it goes! O, A... we only need B and we'd have a regular blood drive! ;)
eta: If blood was books, which of course it is not.
eta2: I warned you guys about silly popping out, yes? Yes.

This may have been answered already, but since the author's first name begins with O, yes :)

Holy cow, there's an X in there! I'm going to

I'll let the mods know about all the spreadsheet issues and we'll see what they say.

Five out of six letters is the awesome. :)

You're doing great, no worries! A G or an N would be much appreciated :)
"And so are we not planning to re-spin at all? What about books already read that won't work for DRAGON?"
Literally every book we've read so far, including those banked from earlier, has counted for dragon. Literally. So as the rules stand staying with dragon is the most pointsy... but I realize it may not be the most exciting.
Thing is, though - you never know when the mods are going to throw a monkey wrench in to make things more interesting. Bwahahaha. ;)
So I'm not saying we'll never re-spin for a new word... but that it may not be the best idea right now. I hope that makes sense, my brain is still mush, hehe.

I hate that! But even knowing the wha..."
Yeah:) That sounds like something from Ted says in HIMYM- Because sometimes even if you know how something's gonna end that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the ride.
I started Half Lost and good news, the three main characters are Nathan, Gabriel and Annalise O'Brien.

I think I liked that one best too. Or maybe Isla and the happily ever after. But yeah, they were mostly 3 star reads for me too.

I'll start an O book, but was wondering if we were going to respin? There is that bonus 100 points if we get the word that relates to wobble, if I'm understanding correctly.

What!? Lol, I really need to read the rules again. But I think we should respin in a while and hope for something that relates to wobble if there is a chance of 100 extra points. The way I see it, we don't have much to lose, do we? We have some of most letters, so we could probably do as well as we're doing right now with another word.
But whatever the rest of you and the captains say is good, I'll be happy to read whatever fits:)

The benefit for spinning a new word is:
a) You really don't like the word you were given and/or
b) You want to try and respin to get the word that is the team name in your group and get that 100 point bonus
Even if we somehow get Red Panda, it's a long word and harder than dragon.

As far as I could tell, Red Panda isn't even ON the wheel.

Hey guess sorry I haven't been around! I had a wedding a bachlorette party and an exam the last two weeks. i've been reading for the stress relief but not really checking in. I'm up to date now and will look at what I can do for wobble! Are we going to spin the wheel again soon? It would be nice to get a land animal and all the extra 100 points that would entail!

I really liked the world he made, but I haven't read any of his other books. I keep confusing him with David Levithan for some reason which makes no sense. Actually, I have a feeling Westerfeld has written a book called Leviathan and my brain is off making all sorts of random connections.

Caly wrote: "It is a bonus if you get the name of a team in your group. We are land animals which includes Tapirs. That is our 100 point word I believe."
Now that makes a lot more sense.

Well, maybe our fearless team leaders can confirm with the mods.

Yup . ur right caly. I missed that the first time i read it. It has to be our group-land

Thing is, though - you never know when the mods are going to throw a monkey wrench in to make things more interesting. Bwahahaha. ;)

I was just curious because I do not see where you were able to use my book To Dance With The White Dog but maybe I am missing it. The spreadsheets confuse me at times... LOL

If you go to the main Wobble Spread sheet on the first page, all the way over to the right there is a column that says "Grouping" . We are grouped under LAND with 3 other teams.
Hope that helps!

Oh, my brain is mush too. I didn't see Riah's post as a question. Thought it was more like a heads-up. Whoops! Sorry! Glad I had the correct info though and didn't lead anyone astray. :)

Also the moral of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind -- great film. I miss HIMYM... siigh

If you go to your own page ("Caly") on the spreadsheet, there's a "Book Used" column and To Dance With the White Dog isn't marked yes there, so looks like it's not used yet. It is on the Wheel Reserve sheet though, with all the letters, so it's probably in the planning stages of being used. Hope this helps! :)

Just to clear up the 100 point bonus option:
To get the 100 bonus points, we need to spin TAPIR, complete the word and the colour bonuses. And, we only get the 100 points the first time we complete the word (if we redo the word we only get points for the spell-out, color bonus etc).
But, if we re-spin for a new word, and get TAPIR again, then we can get the 100 bonus points again :)

• 3 in 10 chance (30%) of spinning a shorter word (5 letters)
• ~2 in 3 chance (65%) of spinning a 5 or 6 letter word
• 1 in 20 chance (5%) of spinning "tapirs"
However, even though a words is shorter, doesn't mean it's relatively easier to spell. I did a bit more in-depth review of each 5 and 6 letter word, click through to see it! (view spoiler)
So, the chances of getting a 5-6 letter word that is easier than "dragon" are only 1 in 3. As much as the gambler in me wants to try for "tapirs", it is definitely safer to stick with "dragon".
I'll go with whatever we choose, of course! It's just fun for me to do the math on these things. :D :D
ETA: Guess it took me 45+ minutes to do all this math, hahaha. I see Margaret has clarified the "tapirs" bonus already. :)
