The only qualifying arm I found is Ella's Zel book, which is allocated to coaching and also wouldn't work if Ella reads another book for the round. Dang. I read a perfect arm book on the 19th. siiigh

I am still reading it. It's crazy, the ebook had 672 pages but paperback had like 500...good thing I'm reading the ebook.
I offered the 500 spot because I want to make sure this big one counts!

eta: Or we could use a bonus to fill in that book... 500 pages in 24 hours is quite hefty. :/

So, if we can swap in a 500 pager then I would be happy! We should then be good, for page jumping if Ray and Bethany finish theirs?
I can then read an arm or word book, whatever is needed....I'm here to help and 5 hours on a plane aids to reading.

As for Distance, Kazen -- did you find a short book for the 'less than 250 pg' slot?
It's looking something like:
1. STONE in the title = Ella, Stone Devil Duke
2. ARM on the cover = Lory
3. page count up to 250p = Kazen or whomever...?
ETA: I am kicking Feed's booty, btw. Making great progess. (Also, the pg count on the ebook is 571, but it's the same slot so no harm there.) Just noticed that Bethany is reading Blackout, #3 in the same series as Feed! Heehee. Bethany - how's it coming along? No spoilers, lol! :D

Will definitely finish blackout by day's end. Can probably then find an arm. Pushing through a 500 pager would be... technically possible?

I could otherwise definitely read 250 pages in a day. I read all of graceling yesterday, and that's almost 500.

1. STONE in the title = Ella, Stone Devil Duke
2. ARM on the cover = Lory
3. page count up to 250p = Bethany probably :)
@Bethany - it can be anywhere from 100 - 250 pgs, so that might make it even easier :)
@Kazen - sleep enough for me too, okay? I'm had coffee ice cream for dessert and then... just.. didn't sleep again. *shrug* And no frowny faces! We'll get it all done. ;) :) Oh, btw, don't know the rules on what we can use Bethany's books for, but she has a few on the reserve page that could we page-rearranged too if my ZRex is too old.

I've been meaning to get to Feed for ages, but since I mostly do the novel RPG on here, I rend toward shorter books to make progress on that. I'm loving Feed so far! Have you read Parasite by Grant? I loved that too, despite a good measure of predictability.
ETA: Grant's Rolling In The Deep was 5-star too!

Hitchhuker's guide to the Galaxy
Which ia maybe technically also an arm book?"
Pretty sure not, as it has to be the whole arm, shoulder to fingers. But I think Lory has the arm taken care of. Got a short book to read? I highly recommend Please Do Not Taunt the Octopus (in the Newsflesh series, #3.4) just for the octopus scene really.

I haven't, but I mean to! Did you know she's also Seanan McGuire? I'm reading her mystery/fantasy series.

It was just eh for me - I didn't get rave reviews due to the hype + lack of plot. I also tend to like books with a lot of dialogue.

I meant the little green guy's arm, not the enormous hand. :P
Ooh, the newsflesh one sounds like a great idea.

Ooh, the newsflesh one sounds like a great idea.."
Oh, haha! I didn't even zoom in. *facepalm*
There's also How Green This Land, How Blue This Sea @ a little over 100 pgs that is Newsflesh #3.2. I read both of those before Feed, to make sure I like the writing style enough to jump into a 600 pg book. I did know Grant = McGuire, but I'm not a fantasy person really. Sci-fi & horror yes! Fantasy...when I must. ;)

Hi Ray, Wheelathon goes for 4 weeks - starts Saturday 23rd July 11am London and ends Friday 19 August 11pm

LOL Ella - me too!!

"Read a book for short distance"

If you can find a book with "Iron" in the title, we might be able to get Round 2 of Book into the Distance done for bonus points...
No pressure though as I haven't looked at what's on our reserve list (we will also need another arm book to get the bonus points).

Hm, okay, I'll see if I can find anything... Maybe something short...

Awesome, thanks!!

Yeaaa! Great work!
"If not I am sure it will work for Wheel right? "
Everything^ works for Wheel, so no worries!

Page Jumping"
Woo-hoo! I read Grant's Parasite and it was good but I didn't feel compelled to read the sequel. I hear her Newsflesh series is better... confirm? Deny? Hehe.

I'm so sorry for not participating in the chat :( I'm at Stanford University right now doing a Creative Writing course (yes, I love writing) and it's occupying most of my time. I'm glad the program is really fun, though!
Anyway, the program made me read books I didn't intend to read. So, completion post:

On Writing Short Stories

I just read...

Wow, way to go! Everyone is rocking the reading so hard, so awesome.
Re: next book - Iron Daughter may be worth it, even if you don't finish it in time for the Olympics. "I"s are hard to get in spell it outs, so it'd be a nice weapon to add to our arsenal. And if we happened to get two more books to fill out the throw, bonus! :) Your other book would be fine, as well, so no worries either way.

Does that seem right?

Basically! The more letters/tasks we fill the more points we get. While there's nothing wrong with reading longer books (I have a couple of chunksters I need to get to) the shorter ones do tend to be more pointsy.
The good news - this is a longer challenge at four weeks, and every book you read can be saved towards future tasks. Margaret, Rose, and I are hashing out strategy in the staff room right now so look forward to a update/goals/etc. post once Olympics is over. :)

Planning before my internet goes away on the flight!

Sam, a course at Stanford, that's so exciting! I'm so happy you're enjoying it!
Luckily Wheelathon isn't quite as exact as Olympics so any book you read will be just fine, including this one. And don't worry, I've seen even more out there stuff - one challenge my team had a psychologist so her books had titles like "Attachment-Based Family Therapy for Depressed Adolescents"... and they all count! :)
Weird tangent, but check back in 36 hours or so to see what our word is and good luck with that course!

Planning before my internet goes away on the flight!"
So it would be like this?
Stone - Ella (reading now, I think)
Arm - Lory (reading now)
Short distance - Bethany (done)
Lead - Lory (reading next)
Arm - Caly (reading now)
Distance - Sam (short story book just turned in)
Does that sound right?

JG was one of the first authors I read when I really started to read seriously about 5 years ago. Her stories are so light hearted and well written...just what I needed between my MMA reading.
Now reading last MMA
Legend...I will finish for Olympics ;)
