Karen M | 1436 comments I've just started reading Boardwalk Summer which I almost feel is unfortunate because my last book The Alice Network was set in two different time periods and so is Boardwalk Summer by Meredith Jaeger .

Did a reread of The Outsiders this week, which I have not read since middle school. Talk about a book that still resonates -- both since it was originally published and since I last read it. Of course, now I'm wanting to see the movie again, too.

Bridget's Quiet Corner (chaptersandscreens) Currently reading: Warbreaker (Warbreaker, #1) by Brandon Sanderson Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson it's a good book but dense.

I may also start Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl to break up how dense Warbreaker is. B.C. is a 2nd try book for me and I've seen the movie. Now that I've found the audio book on scribd, it might make it easier to get past some parts i struggled with before.

Also, starting a read a thon this weekend so that's something I have to consider too..because I want to be done or mostly done with Warbreaker before I start the r.a.t.

I really liked Beautiful Creatures when I read it a few years ago. The movie was awful, but the book was excellent!

MaryJo Dawson | 857 comments Enjoyed reading the review for Kate Morton's latest, I've read most of her other novels. My favorite is The Secret Keeper; nothing else seems to have quite measured up but none let me down, either.

Now of I have to find the box the other 2 of my hardcovers are stored in. Why in the world are the bulk of the Eddings books not available in Ebook format in the US.

Karen M | 1436 comments I finished Written In Blood by Caroline Graham a series I have grown to love. Now I'm reading a little scifi story The Midwich Cuckoos which is the book on which the movie The Village of the Damned is based. Actually the movie has been made twice. Love scifi.

I actually liked the movie. It was the book I couldn't get through the first time or two I tried to read it. I just gave up on the book and watched the movie right around the time it either came out on DVD or not long before and it was still in theaters

Agree -- liked the book, movie was awful. Which is probably why they never made another one.

Ahhh, then you are in for a treat. It was one of the few books read by my book club at the time that we All liked.

Uncharacteristic of me, but I have four books going right now. One is a cozy, and the other three non-cozies:

Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs (on ereader)

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness (on a different ereader)

I Need a Lifeguard Everywhere But the Pool by Lisa Scottoline (Hardcover book of essays, reading a few between other books)

Thanks. I'm enjoying it so far. I needed a true crime book for my Bookriot challenge.

Lesa Divine | 5 comments Just finished reading When the Lights Go Out by Mary Kubica by Mary Kubica omg I didn't like this book as much as I liked her book Pretty Baby.
I'm still reading An Echo of Things to Come (The Licanius Trilogy, #2) by James Islington by James Islington that's over a 700 page book finally made it to the 400 mark lol. I'm really enjoying this fantasy world. His writing is similar to Brandon Sanderson. Speaking of Brandon Sanderson I'm still reading Words of Radiance (The Stormlight Archive, #2) by Brandon Sanderson which is a book over 1,000 pages I finally got the 600 page mark. I'm not in a rush because book 3 Oathbringer don't come out in PAPERBACK until the end of October and I need my set to match lol.

Bridget's Quiet Corner (chaptersandscreens) Currently reading: Until Friday Night (The Field Party, #1) by Abbi Glines Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines...quite a bit of language but I am trying to get past that part of it. I am really interested in seeing how her writing is beyond needing to using curse words at least once per page in some cases.

Reading Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson..first book I've read by him. He does have a lot to say doesn't he! lol....But I do see what the hype is around him is all about now. He is a great storyteller. Taking a break now though for the read-a-thons I'm doing but hoping to get back to him after they're over.
