Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Sorry that it's been so long since I've been on. I didn't realize that soccer season would be such a time sucker. Here's to hoping that I have more reading time soon.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I still haven't read Six of Crows. How long is that series supposed to be?

message 753: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments It's just the duology, so both books are out!

message 754: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Great! Then I'll have to get them so I have them ready at the end of soccer season.

I loved book one and hope to get to book two soon

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Finished my reread of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #1) by Ransom Riggs , loved it.

Also finished Crank (Crank, #1) by Ellen Hopkins which I loved. This was my first time reading Ellen Hopkins, and I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future. I love the way she wrote this. The verse was unforgiving and straight to the point, but still beautiful. A sad, scary, and amazing read!

Next I'm reading Ghost in Trouble (Bailey Ruth, #3) by Carolyn Hart and rereading Hollow City (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #2) by Ransom Riggs

Ashley Marie My SO just started reading Miss Peregrine yesterday. Probably only 10 pages in but he likes it so far and he's already found a few differences between book/movie :D

message 759: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished Ghost in Trouble (Bailey Ruth, #3) by Carolyn Hart which was a fun little mystery, and my reread of Hollow City (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #2) by Ransom Riggs , which I loved!

I did really, really well for my readathons last week! Doing 2 at the same time was interesting!

For the #AYearathon readathon, I finished 4 books with a total of 1,424 pages!

For the #Frightfall readathon, I finished 5 books with a total of 1,748 pages! My total page count for the week was 3,172! YAY! I had fun with both of these :)

Next I'm moving on to Library of Souls (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #3) by Ransom Riggs , can't wait!!

Wow Jenny! That is a ton of reading. Those damn Korean dramas have really cut into my reading time this past year . Darn dramas!

I am still listening to Time's Edge Time's Edge (The Chronos Files, #2) by Rysa Walker and kind of wish I did not let so much time elapse between books one and two because I am trying to remember a lot now. I also started my re-read of Fire Country Fire Country (The Country Saga, #1) by David Estes on audiobook this time, which David so graciously gifted to me. I just finished This Shattered World This Shattered World (Starbound, #2) by Amie Kaufman and I liked it but not as much as book one.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Rysa has recaps of each of the books on her website :)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments So what's the opposite of a book hangover?
I started Rook by Sharon Cameron and absolutely adored it till 70%. It was full of action, intrigue and an interesting concept of a world. Then it all fell apart. The ending was still alright, but it didn't have the depth that the beginning of the book had. And it took FOREVER for the loose ends to be tied up.
So bummed right now. :(

message 772: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Aww that's sad Elora. Did it just get predictable or drag?

Yeah...it stays creepy throughout :)

message 778: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie I started the Monstrumologist the other night too! Also currently reading And I Darken by Kiersten White

message 779: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Haven't updated in a while! I finished my reread of Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3) by Sarah J. Maas , LOVED it! Also finished The Silkworm (Cormoran Strike, #2) by Robert Galbraith and really loved that one too! Finished Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier and it was an okay read for me.

I've been reading The Heart of Betrayal (The Remnant Chronicles, #2) by Mary E. Pearson and I think I'm in a book slump. Its taking me awhile, not sure why. Maybe I'm burned out on fantasy (which isn't good, because I have lots of fantasy on my TBR!) I may switch to something else for a bit, don't know what.

message 780: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie ooooh Jenny I loved Silkworm! I didn't think Career of Evil was quite as good, but I still enjoyed it. Hope you like it, when you pick it up!

Me too! I was reading it and something just didn't seem right, but I couldn't put my finger on what it was. Yesterday when I grabbed it, I checked the cover and sure enough, it said sequel. Oh well. :)

message 785: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Finished reading Kingdom of Ashes (A Wicked Thing, #2) by Rhiannon Thomas which was a pretty good sequel. I love the world building of this series, especially the dragons. So cool.

Also finished reading Yellow Brick War (Dorothy Must Die, #3) by Danielle Paige I thought it was the last book in the series, but I guess there's another book. I didn't think that was necessary at all. This was an okay read, a pretty quick one. Not a lot happened in it, though.

Next I'm reading Tales of the Peculiar (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children #0.5) by Ransom Riggs

JENNY: I thought that was the last book as well. I was a bit disappointed that she stretched it out to 4 books. You're right it's really unnecessary.

Just finished...
The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike, #1) by Robert Galbraith
enjoyed the last half of the book. The story picked up eventually and now I can't wait to see what the 2nd book holds.

Also finished...
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn Reign of Shadows (Reign of Shadows, #1) by Sophie Jordan

Now I'm unsure of what to read next.

Ashley Marie Tv series is in the works, with Tom Burke as Strike. It's a BBC One production and HBO has the US rights.

Dixie Minor | 276 comments I read this The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13 3/4 (Adrian Mole, #1) by Sue Townsend The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13 3/4 because I saw it on the table at the library under "Staff Picks." :) I enjoyed the quirky humor and touching observations. Reread and old YA favorite, To Tell Your Love To Tell Your Love by Mary Stolz and am starting X. X (Kinsey Millhone, #24) by Sue Grafton I really enjoyed reading everyone's recent reads and notice there are some really good ones for this time of year. :) Happy Hallowe'en!

Dixie Minor | 276 comments I can't remember, it's been so long, if I already said I finished Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight , which was really good for fans of Girl on the Train; also Where They Found Her by Kimberly McCreight , by the same author. Lots of twists and turns! Yay!

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Almost done with The Monstrumologist. I appreciate that the author gives the reader a heads up on who is going to die. Still very creepy. Though I'm not sure which is creepier, the monsters or Kearns.

message 799: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Just finished Blameless (Parasol Protectorate, #3) by Gail Carriger and loving this series. Still working on Monstrumologist; maybe I'm just not in the mood for a wordy book right now, or it's not what I expected it to be, I'm not sure. I do like it but I really have to focus when I read it.
