I'm currently reading: Just started Ink and Bone this morning. It's not bad. I just got to the library. Can't wait for the "magic School" part to start.
and almost done Half Bad. Really enjoying it-- kind of. The writing style is so strange and compelling but the content is pretty dark and gruesome. (It's like reading the 5th Harry Potter book when you really just want to stab Umbridge, is what it reminds me of.)
I haven't picked up Snow Like Ashes in a few weeks. I want to dnf, but I want to see if it gets better too, so I haven't decided if I'll finish it. I don't like the mc very much. She just mentally whines about love too often.

I also found Half Bad to be good but a bit dark. ^-^

Hope you enjoy Ink and Bone!
I haven't read Half Bad, but I've heard very mixed things about the series.
And I think I've shared my opinion of Snow Like Ashes. That was one I just couldn't get through.
I'm reading
and am enjoying it but it does need more editing.I'm listening to
I'm loving the accents It's so much funnier listening to it than just reading it.
I listened to three of the Finishing School books and loved them, even though I wasn't crazy about the story or characters.
Yes, I definitely want to reread the series one day! I remember staying up for hours reading—sometimes even putting off food if the chapter was especially interesting.
Yes! Those were some of the first books that really got me into reading. I was ten when I started, right when the movie came out. I hadn't heard of them before that but my best friend was really into them.
Not sure how old I was—maybe first or second grade. But yeah, I think I saw the movie first and it got me into the books.
Oh my gosh, you guys are so young, lol. I read them first when I was 11 or 12 and it was before the 3rd book came out. And way before the movies.
Haha, yep. I'll be 25 in June. The fourth book was already out when I started. I got the first two for Christmas in 2001 and then got the next two a few months later. I haven't read one since the 7th book came out. So what...eight years?
Courtney wrote: "I think it came out in 1998. Something like that. So I was seven."It was September 1998. I was 6 at the time and I didn't start reading them till about age 8 so a little after 2001?
I first read them in French actually (The first two books) and I had my mom read them to me in English since I couldn't read English as well back then. ^-^
That's so cool! I need to work on more languages. One of my goals this year is to read a book in a foreign language.
Courtney wrote: "That's so cool! I need to work on more languages. One of my goals this year is to read a book in a foreign language."I'm aiming to read a book in Korean or Japanese in the next few years. The problem is that even their baby/children's books are pretty hard. :/
What language are you aiming for? ^-^
Asian languages are hard. I have a Chinese friend who told me I should take Chinese because it's so hard to learn they would go easy on me. I've studied French and Spanish in the past, but I think I'll read something in German. I want to read it in its original language, not a translation and I know Cornelia Funke's books are German, so I think I'm going to try one of those. If I get that done I might try some others. So if you have any suggestions, I'm open to them.

I personally am interested in Asian languages right now since I read a lot of manga and anime and watch foreign dramas. Korean and Japanese are about equally hard, but a little easier than Chinese.
If you've studied French and Spanish in the past then I'd stick to the Romance languages since they are easiest. ^-^
Jackie wrote: "I speak Spanish fluently and am learning French. I'd love to read a book in French soon."I've sadly forgotten most of my French since I haven't practiced for almost 10 years. I can probably still read a children's book though. >.>
Courtney wrote: "Love triangles are very annoying most of the time."Yes they are. From the state of YA today you'd think that they happened every day to 99% of girls and guys. :/
Ugh, I know. I have no idea why they became such a big thing. I get that you need some drama in a story because that's life, but there are plenty other types of drama.

Courtney wrote: "I'm guessing that means you like it a lot! :D"I'm only 50 pages in and it's really good so far! :D
I'm hoping to finish it today and move on to some BRs of mine. ^-^
I don't know why it's taking me forever to get into this book! I've just past chapter four, which was especially creepy and good, so hopefully that will help me keep reading and finish it!
That's a series I couldn't get into. But I hope you're able to enjoy it since you've made it this far.
Courtney, how much did you read? I thought the first book was meh, ok, but I LOVED the 2nd book so much. Mixed feelings about books 3 and 4
Courtney wrote: "That's a series I couldn't get into. But I hope you're able to enjoy it since you've made it this far."Same. I didn't like the main character or the plot very well. I can sometimes read a book with a character I don't like if the plot is really good but I can't if I don't like both. The novella's aren't bad though. I've read two of those. :/
I didn't even make it halfway through book 1. I didn't like the writing, the characters, or the story. And from what I've heard about the other books, I don't think I would like those much better.
I have unpopular opinions about several popular series though, so it doesn't surprise me. Most popular series I will either love or hate, there isn't much in between for me. Which is kind of true of my reading in general.
