Thank you for all of your suggestions, I really appreciate it. Yeah, when I say TBR I refer to the full to bursting bookshelf that stares at me every day; haven't quite had a chance to add all of the books on it to my goodreads TBR list, but I'm working on it.

I'm definitely going to look into those fantasy titles/authors you suggested, and keep Austen as a backup--I'm ashamed to say that I have yet to read any of her work although I adore every adaptation that I have come across. I will admit that part of what is holding me back, and it's not a very good reason, is that I have four of her novels but they are all bound in one gorgeous volume that I could probably bludgeon someone with, so it is not the best for carrying around to cafes or for lunch breaks.

Anything by Tamora Pierce is Amazing!!! You should definitely read Terrier or really ANY of her other series if you haven't yet. Also Six of Crows is SOOO Good.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I'm reading a few things right now.

A collection of fantasy and sci-fi stories that I visit occasionally and need to finish before the end of the year.

Seize the Night by Dean Koontz, which is pretty great so far.

Edgedancer by Brandon Sanderson, which I'm liking. It doesn't have the same spark that most of his novels do for me, but I do really like it and the aspect of how Lift's magic works is amazing.

and then I'm reading the second Dragonrealm book, which I'm liking quite a bit.

Oh, and Stars Above, which I'm listening to as I drive to and from work. It's pretty good.

Hopefully I can finish a couple of these soon.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I am listening to The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater right now and it's so good! I'm really glad that I decided to give it another try. And that I'm listening to it. The narrators are fantastic.

Kylara Jensen | 437 comments I am reading way to much and barely finishing anything. I got into Tamora Pierce and have basically been re-reading all of her books. (The Protector of the Small books are my favorites.) And I've started re-reading the Temeraire series. But I have a ton of half read books I need to finish and library books I need to read.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I'm reading Wolfhelm, the third book in the Dragonrealm series right now, and I'm really surprised by how much I'm enjoying it. Now I want to read more of the series but my library doesn't have them! will have to check the used bookstore.

Felicia | 15003 comments Yeah, it was rough in the beginning but I ended up really liking it. :D

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Was it the writing that was rough or it just took a while to get into the story?

Felicia | 15003 comments It was the MC, Vhalla. I don't like reading about female MCs who are all like "poor me" "why is this happening to me?" in denial about what is happening to them even though it is clearly obvious. And that is how she was in the beginning. I like reading about badass female heroines (that is why Celaena from TOG is my favorite).

But about halfway through she comes into her own and grows a pair.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I can understand that. Feeling sorry for yourself is never appealing.

message 365: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Definitely not. But she makes up for it. And the action is jam packed. Mostly at the end. But the getting to the end isn't bad either.

I was thinking of reading that book but was leery for a second when you said the MC was whiny. I hate whiny MCs. Now I'll make a bigger effort to try it. I think I'll wait till May though. :/

I'm reading Every Day.

I found it really interesting and would highly recommend it. It was so good that I got the next book the next day.
