R13: Team #1 ~ Bookworms in Bloom

June 1st should work for me. I like the idea of one book a month at least to start. That way, I won't fall behind with the books I need to review.
For some books, the chapter/pages per day works quite well. I participated in a couple like that in another group. But it always depends on the book and the amount of reading time I have. Books like these I probably wouldn't do as a BR that requires a specific number or chapters/pages a day. 1 book per month sounds good for a start! That spaces them out nicely and we all have time to read other books in between - and it'll give me time to get my hands on the later books I don't have yet, since I only have up to #11 on my shelves. But that is quite a way off still hehe.
Or you can read book 9 and be sure that there is a lot of time in between now and when we get to the book ;-)
Haha nice! :-)I'm about halfway through mine and not so sure about enjoying it. He is an idiot and she is a wimp...
Yes, that's the one. I've heard a lot of good things about the series and maybe some of the other pairings are better but so far, this one is definitely not impressing me.Might just be me though, a fair amount of people I know here on GR seem to like it well enough.

Well, I thought I'd enjoy this more. The ending was better but I just cannot bring myself to rate this higher as for the larger part of the book the two main characters were bugging the hell out of me.
While I find it good that not every female character is a kick-ass heroine, I'm not all too fond of wimpy doormats either, and Emma was exactly that. She doesn't fight back, she lets herself being coerced into horrible situations, somehow regularly lets herself be convinced that the decisions she makes are somewhat good ideas until, obviously, something bad happens to make her realise that in fact she was just lying to herself, yet again.
Lachlain was... not the hero I would have liked him to be. While I find alpha males interesting and the whole idea of finding your mate is usually appealing, he just didn't strike me as a very good person, until the very end at least. Forcing his supposed mate, nearly raping her, hurting her, generally being an ass about everything when things don't go his way.. nope, not very nice to read about.
The story itself was alright. Nothing overwhelming, just a lot of foreshadowing of future matings and relationships. Now I'm not one to enjoy politics a lot, but there could have been so much more to this book than there was if the background had been more thoroughly exploited in this instalment of the series.
Nah sadly we can't. That's just the way it is! :-)I'm also one of the very few people who hated the first book of the Charlie Davidson series, which everyone seems to really enjoy.

Good Job!! :D
Woot! Thanks, ladies! Can't wait for tomorrow's shelf call! :-D And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for something good for us ;-)
Haha, I have a similar feeling. I'm practically done with all my larger challenges and I feel like I'm forgetting something. But frankly, I quite like that it's calmed down now. I'm going to take things a little easier from now on out and I'm not planning on signing up for any individual challenges and as little team challenges as possible. I'm spending too much time reading - yes, I never thought I'd say that, but at the moment, for me, that totally is a thing hehe - and want to spend more time doing other things for a change that I've completely neglected lately.
Totally agree though! Considering how long we've had Bingo options, it would be a shame if another team called Bingo ;-)
Definitely weird without Bingo! But at least we'll have the BR to keep chattering away :-)Now I'm wondering if I should start Guilty Pleasures right away tomorrow or if I should wait and see if it fits the new shelf call.. hmm...
If we get Vampires or Supernatural we can read it, but not if we get Tortured Hero, and the latter is probably the call we'll want since I think we're still the only team to benefit from that one - so no race, or not much of one anyway hehe.
Yay for being done with essays!! It was always such a relief when the last one was handed in, despite the sudden void of "and what do I do now?!". I usually started binge watching a series after the end of a semester hehe.
Well it looks like we won't be having another shelf call. :-(Team 18 just requested their final stamps for their 5-in-a-row.

I was a little torn on what to rate this one. The first half was really slow, and I don't think it was just because it had been so long since I read the first one. It just felt like nothing was happening. Then the second half of the book came along, and I had a hard time putting it down. I ended up staying up late to finish it. So I went with a middle of the road 3.5 stars. All in all, it did peak my interest for the next one. I just hope it has a quicker start than this one did!
I'm sad to see Bingo end, but I'm looking forward to our Buddy Read! It was great playing with you ladies! :)
