Eldarwen, I really do like the series! It seems like each book just gets better and better! And the characters are great!

Alright, Steph Ann, I'll take your word for it hehe. I'll order the first book in a bit to read soon and then I'll see where it'll take me.Have you ladies read the Argenau series? That's another one that keeps popping up and seems to have fairly good ratings as well.
Good to know, Armi! I think I have audios for the later books available to me, so I might give those a go.
I've read the first five so far, and I'm spacing them out a little hehe. But I'm probably going to read Stars & Stripes soon :-) In June most likely. Won't be able to fit it in this month.
The thing is that I don't think the plots are all that fantastic in the books, but the characters more than make up for it. There's just something about the dynamic of those two that gets me completely hooked once I start the books.
Reading is going really slow for me this week. Both of my kids are sick again so,I haven't had a whole lot of reading time. Stupid colds lol.
Hope they're getting better soon, Steph Ann, and that you aren't catching their colds! :-)Armi, that's a shame! I quite like Jason in the other books because he's the really secretive kind of guy you never hear a lot about. Makes me sad to hear that the book disappoints.
Oooh, you've made me curious, Armi! Will have to get my hands on those books :-)I'm currently gushing over Vlad hehe. With a bit of luck - i.e. if work remains quiet and I'll keep up my awesome reading mood from yesterday - I'll be done with my book tonight.
I think they work well. She isn't a defenseless, pristine little princess, so that definitely speaks for her.I'm missing some of his sarcasm though. I loved his dry humour in the Night Huntress series and while some of it is in his series, it isn't quite so obvious.
Of course, shortly after I posted the above, there was one of his typical lines ;-)The series is definitely good with a bit of mystery thrown in so there's always something to puzzle out while drooling over Vlad.

Review:
Ah, Vlad. While he is not as sarcastic as in the Night Huntress series, and his dry humour seems to have taken a bit of a downfall, I definitely enjoy this series.
Leila has a knack for getting herself in trouble though and I hope that isn't going to continue like this in the next book because a bit of a change would be good.
I found new respect for Gretchen in this book!
The story itself keeps my interest though and I am curious to see how it will all unfold in the third book. The plot was sort of rounded off in this book, so it doesn't feel like a cliffhanger but I am still going to pick up the next book sooner rather than later because I want to know what happens next.
Lol, that is impressive indeed! So let's hope for Tortured Hero if next week is a winning shelf call ;-) Means less stress for us hehe.
I'm most likely going to read
for this but I'll have a closer look at the shelf tomorrow morning when I'm less tired :-)
Mh true, we'd definitely be at a disadvantage there. They could potentially have finished their books before we're waking up.
Haha, well that's a good thing, right? Means the series is good? :-)I went with Talon because I need it for another challenge, and this way I'll have the book for this shelf read by, hopefully, the end of the weekend.
Ok, so that's 1 wanting to read Captive Prince and 1 giving it a heart.. *goes to check out the synopsis* and yess, that sounds interesting *adds to TBR* :-))
So far, Talon reminds me a little too much of
for my liking, which isn't really a good thing because I didn't think that book was all that great. But I'm only one chapter in, so we'll see. Hopefully I'll be able to steer my mind away from the other book and enjoy this one without making comparisons.
For series to start, I'm going with
.I'm about 75% through my Favorite Series book. If I can, I'm gonna try to stay up tonight and finish it. If that doesn't happen, I should have it finished tomorrow.
Also, Vilda, I noticed in the master list of our books, you don't have my Hunter book marked off as complete. I did finish it and review it, so that should give us another stamp! :)
Vilda wrote: "No rush, Steph Ann! And gosh, I'm sorry, I had completely missed that. Thanks for reminding me!Also, I hope Blood Bound is good! I've loved my Rachel Vincent reads so far, so it's another one I r..."
For some reason, I'm just feeling really behind this round! I'm used to always having my books finished before the next shelf call. Of course, in previous rounds, I was not dealing with two kids, which does make a difference lol.
I've enjoyed my Rachel Vincent reads so far too, so I have high hopes for Blood Bound!

The book started off reminding me a little too much of Firelight which I read not too long ago and was really not that fond of (and less so over time, thinking it over). However, it quickly redeemed itself.
Ember, the female main character, was feisty, willful and she had a knack for defying rules, which tended to get her into trouble. That tendency and her reactions to certain events or statements made her somewhat annoying though. Of course, it seemed like a good portrayal of a teenager who doesn't actually have a clue about anything since she never really lived among humans, but eurgh, sometimes I wanted to shake her. Her brother, Dante, was a bit on the flat side once his brotherly protection dwindled, but that was probably intentional from the way things panned out in the story.
Riley, now there's an interesting character, despite the fact that he is the token mysterious guy. The information he provided into the background of Talon and the whole dragon population/organisation was great, but of course limited, since there wasn't all that much time for the characters to explore details. I'm eager to learn more, and I'm a bit annoyed that there wasn't more information provided in the first book, but as the reader learns these things along with Ember, again, it feels intentional to keep a lot of knowledge hidden for now.
Garrett, as the representation of St. George, was a good character and I like the way things evolved around him and (view spoiler). St. George seem like utter fanatics without much thought behind their actions in the field, but of course, Garrett is a foot soldier and probably also doesn't know all that much of what happens at the top levels where the decisions are made.
The story itself was an easy read and somewhat predictable but still I enjoyed the ride. The showdown towards the end was a little unrealistic though. (view spoiler)
I'll definitely continue with this series. I'm curious about what is going to happen next.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I'm once again over-excited for tomorrow's shelf call... I'm starting to go through the lists to try and decide which book to read so I can immediately launch into it on Thursday :-)
I actually don't mind which shelf it is, the book I want to read fits both! :-D If it's a winning shelf that is hehe. I'm pretty sure it fits most of the other shelves as well ;-)
But you know, you need regular breaks from studying, so you need to read, absolutely! It's all gooooood ;-)
Oh yes that's right! There's 3 possibilities now!I still don't want Bingo to end but at the same it would be nice to win, too ;-)
I don't think I have to check if my book works for vampires, too. Seems like kind of a given hehe.
I checked the shelves early this time because I really want to read this book. I've been meaning to for quite a while and kept putting it off because other books came in between for challenges.
But I really, really understand the problem of wanting to have them all haha. I am going to put in a book order again soon, and I'm going to get the first book in the World of the Lupi series and he Argeneau series.

Yet another strong entry in this series. This one focuses mainly on Lily and Rule, although there are a couple scenes from Lily's sister Beth's perspective. The story was very fast paced, and when I had time to read, I had a hard time putting it down. I even ended up staying up late to finish it because there was no way I could stop reading once I hit the 80 percent mark. I'm definitely interested to see where the series goes from here.
Woo! That is definitely a good shelf - or we're just good at picking good books hehe.Steph Ann, I'm going to start the series soon! And I hope I'll enjoy it as much as you do :-)
CONGRATULATIONS, Bookworms in Bloom! You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'hunter/s' and 'favorite series'.
[Your updated BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D
Ladies, if there is a winning shelf call today, we will want it to be Tortured Hero as that will be less of a race since we're the only group who can use that one to call Bingo. So keep your fingers crossed tightly!!(Sorry, Vilda, it isn't the shelf you want for Raven King ;-))
Mmhh if it's an early shelf call, which I keep forgetting if it is or not, I might be able to stay awake long enough as it'd be 11.30pm, I think.

This was really good! The story was fast-paced and got my attention right away. I was a little confused at first, but as the book went on, I began to understand more about how the world works, and I found myself completely sucked in. We get chapters from both Liv and Cam's perspectives, which was nice. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that Liv was a little hard for me to like at first because she's a tad hypocritical when it comes to certain decisions Cam has made. But all in all, this was a great first book in a series!
Good to know, Steph Ann! The book is on my TBR as well (maybe because of this challenge and because you read it, I can't remember anymore haha).
Armi wrote: "Oh, and I just noticed we're all caught up now! Clearly we're expecting a favorable shelf call. :D"*grin*
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!! :-)
I'm going with
. It's been over a year since I read the first book in the series, so I'm sure I'll feel lost, but we'll see how it goes lol.
So I stayed up last night, and just before the shelf call I went to get ready for bed, and then I'm coming back to my pc only to see that the piece of shit decided to upgrade to windows 10 all by itself. Very annoyed at that! I liked my Windows 7...So I went to bed ;-)
I started
months ago and then got distracted by other books (and I wasn't really up for reading digitally) so I put it away again. But I'll definitely have to get back to it at some point. Seems like it was a good book, Vilda? If you're considering rereading it? Though if you're going for a reread, I'd suggest Edward.. ;-) I loved
.And yay, I'm glad I can read my book for this! :-)
Sandra wrote: "Elderwen, you can change it back by using a restore point and cancelling auto updates."Really?? That is music in my ears :-D
Thanks!
Didn't realise that was possible for a windows upgrade as well. Awesome!
I dislike using Mac as well, so not quite sure what I'll do once 2020 hits then, if they really won't replace it with anything similar.. :-/ But I guess I still have a few years until then ;-)I just hate the whole app system (and yup, I'm one of the few people who doesn't have a smartphone) though from the brief glance I got at WinX, it's better than Win8, which I accidentally got on my mini notebook.. I'm going to install WinX on that one, but since I don't use it much, it won't bug me too much, I hope.
Sorry to jump in...I have WinX because my computer upgraded itself, just like yours. But I keep it in desktop mode and it works just like Win XP...no apps just a regular computer.
Might be an option if all else fails, thanks Sam :-)I really need to reread the Anita Blake books at some point and then maybe continue with the series as well. But before I get to those rereads (or most any rereads), I'm just going to read all the other books I have lying around that haven't been touched yet. ;-)
I've heard a few times that after Obsidian Butterfly things started going downhill with the series. I have the 2 following books but I never picked them up once I was done with book 9. Mainly because I heard that it was repetitive and more sex than story-oriented. Of course that could be said about a lot of PNR, which I only started reading a few years later. I can't even remember when I read this series but it must be something like 6-7 years.
Oh yes, it was very good at first. The sex, I mean. The first time she slept with Jean-Claude, I was fanning myself haha. But then Jean-Claude always had that seductive edge ;-)But all this talk about the series is really making me want to reread it.
This is making me want to reread anita blake too lol. I can't remember how far I made it before I stopped. I remember loving Obsidian Butterfly though!
