I can't speak for the audio because I read a paper copy but it is an excellent story.

message 2205: by Ryan (new)

Ryan A bit too "scary and gross" for my five year old but I'm enjoying it. I would've loved it when I was about ten.

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments I am reading Tower of Thorns (Blackthorn & Grim, #2) by Juliet Marillier by Juliet Marillier (AA, to my surprise).

Ace (aceonroam) I'm reading A Loving, Faithful Animal by Josephine Rowe. It's hard work and not exactly fun to read. Has anyone else read it?

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Phrynne, I've read that and enjoyed it, Then Clarissa and I went to see the movie, and I would not recommend it to anyone. Another Hollywood disaster that includes gratuitous sex scenes and bears only a slight resemblance to Ron Rash's excellent novel.

I am glad you said that because I saw the trailer to the movie and it was not at all tempting. But I have heard lots of good things about the book.

Noelene | 364 comments Currently reading (listening) Lincoln in the Bardo. It's doing my head in. Glad I am listening to it as an audio book as I think I would be more confused. At least with the audio book I am much more aware of the change of characters, but there are far too many. Glad it is only 7 hours or so as an audio book otherwise I would have been giving up.

message 2227: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments I have been loaned The Woolgrower’s Companion by Joy Rhoades by a friend at work. As an added interest, that person is related to the author.

So far I am really loving the descriptions of a rural sheep station and it's environment. The character building is a bit shakier, I feel and at times I feel as though the speech patterns are more ocker than ocker ever got on it's own. Still enjoying it.

I'm looking for this one too based on Mariannes review.

I'm reading (listening to) a free audiobook I managed to get last month or so The Break by Marian Keyes which I think many of the readers here would love. My first by this author although I've seen her books plastered around bookshops everywhere.
