This is everything you could possibly want to know about the Aussie Greens, but also has a lot about European groups and parties as well.
Huge amount of research. And it has a lovely GREEN cover, so it's my #5 choice.

That would be fine Kerrie:)

I've just edited it. Goodreads has been flaking out on me all night :(
Thanks! Good review:) Great series - I'm like you and haven't read them all, but they work as standalone anyway I think.

I haven't read the first one (although people advised readers to), but I thoroughly enjoyed this good police story with characters I liked in a well-written, fast-paced mystery. I liked Lambert, too.
He's my autumn #1 WORKER (and a hard-working cop, at that).

Death Sentence: The Decay of Public Language
by Aussie author and former speechwriter for PM Paul Keating (himself a quick word wit) Don Watson.
Watson deplores how stilted and corporate and unclear language has become, even everyday speech. Lots of examples, many funny (George W. Bush especially) of how bad we're getting.
Just keep reading more good books, I reckon. That's my prescription.

I had to change this as I discovered overnight that the author isn't Aussie :( Very sad. But it makes the book more exceptional in my opinion, for the obvious research she's done!

Clean Up Australia Day (6th March)
2. REDUCE - a TBR shelf book -
3. RECYCLE - a library book -
5. St Patrick's Day (17th March) -

Glad to hear you enjoyed this one, Veronica. It's on my list for this year (it's a carryover from last year since it was one of a few that I didn't get around to), so I must try and squeeze it in somewhere. The fact that you enjoyed might help me bump it up the list to make it more of a priority!

Most Aussies are probably aware of the film of this book Rabbit-Proof Fence: The True Story of One of the Greatest Escapes of All Time by Doris Pilkington (Nugi Garimara). 1930 this took place. Just wrong.
The book is written by the daughter of the oldest girl, Molly (15), who made this phenomenal trek with her little cousins (8 and 11). They'd been removed and taken south by ship to Perth but escaped and walked 2400km to get home. . . barefoot.
My review (long, but broken into bite-size pieces, I hope).

It's a story of a mum and teenage sons who leave Dad (for good reasons) and go to South Australia's Eyre Peninsula to start over. Lots of oyster farming and some odd mysterious goings-on.
