Two of my favorite things Susan :)

Hey Susan, maybe we could have a mini discussion about the book when I am finished. I think TarheelGirl is reading it also. I know most of the others did it as the book club read over at B&N. And after your comment I am itching to finish now!!

That sounds good. I'm about 100 pages into it and I'm going to read some more tonight.

Great Tarheelgirl, once we are both finished we can have a bit of a discussion about the book.
(I hope you don't mind that Debbie? Also anyone else who would like to chime in that would be great)

Hi Susan, yes I see that, I entered the giveaway. It sounds interesting doesn't it. I am a sucker for a good dance movie. And the description in the give away said Perfect Chemistry meets Save the Last Dance. Early reviews look promising as well. :)

I think that's a lovely idea and I'm setting up a thread right now for you
And I think I enjoyed The Proper Care and Maintenance of Friendship more than R A of K but I also think that's because it was an all inclusive novel.
I can't wait to read and join in on your conversations about TPC&MOF
If ever you want a thread just ask!

Thanks, Deb. That was fast! Now I need to find time to finish the book. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Kamas, Hi thanks for sharing. How long ago did you read them? I know my tastes in fiction changes with my age.
Have a great weekend!
I'm still trying to get through my required reading.

I am finished with "The Proper Care and Maintenance of Friendship" and now I am reading Night Swim. It was one of the B&N freebies sometime back and Susan has already read it and gave it 5 stars, so I feel like I will probably like it too!

Well, I started The Orphan Train today at lunch. Then tonight I found The Memory Box free with the Kindle app on my Nook, so I got interested in it. It is supposed to be free today and tomorrow (July 31) if anyone is interested. I haven't read much, but so far it is very intriguing.

It was a bit hard for the first chapter or two but after that it was clear sailing the rest of the very large book. You have a good advantage Ang as you don't have to wait 1.5 years in between volumes. I think you'll really like it once it takes off. There's just so much mystery at first, so many things we don't know and so many things that Diana doesn't know either. Stay with it I think you'll be glad you did

Deb, I do still check out the Nook Blog on Fridays. I'm afraid I might miss something! I have sooooooo many freebies that I want to read.
Susan, you're right. The picks haven't been that great lately. Last week's was a cozy that looked pretty good for when I am in the mood for a light, quick read.
The Memory Box has really drawn me in. I'm having trouble putting it down.

I have the Kindle app on my Nook HD+ and I got it that way. I like reading using the NOOK better. I hardly ever use the Kindle app, but this book looked too good to turn down.

I read them in the mid-90's. My mother sent me The Old Silent and got me hooked. So I borrowed a bunch of hers until I kind of lost interest in them. I always like Melrose, and still do. Jury I always thought a little morose and melancholy, but I'm not finding him quite so in the early novels. I'm enjoying the re-reads so far.
Ang from OZ wrote: "Finished reading Red Hill, wow I really enjoyed it. And picked up another of Jamie McGuire's books and polished it off as well. It was a novella called "Happenstance" I thought it was great also..."

I lost a nights sleep because I couldn't put the book down till I knew what happened to the little boy. So much for that box of tissue and pound of M&Ms....

It's the weekend, what are you reading.
I'm reading a new novel by Marilyn Brant called Pride, Prejudice and the Perfect Bet,
it's a spinoff of her Novel Pride Prejudice and the Perfect Match. She'll be visiting the blog chatting about Jane Austen later in the month.
Then I'll be re-reading Beatriz Williams greatest love story EVER Overseas, those of you from B&N will know the title because we read it together way back when.
Next will be Beth Harbison's new release Driving with the Top Down
Then it's on to my November reviews :)
what's on your reading plate this weekend?

Me 2!! Enjoying it so far. About 30% read! I actually didn't want to put it down last night.
And stayed up a little too late reading!
I finished "Wuthering Heights" and now I finally got around to starting "Orphan Train" at lunch today. Actually I had already read the first chapter, but I went back and re-read it.

Oh TarHeelGirl Wuthering Heights is my All Time Favorite classic, not an easy read and certainly no happy ending but OMG the passion. It Rocks!

Ang from OZ wrote: "Well I've never actually read Wuthering Heights. I supposed I really should read some classics shouldn't I?! :) Really getting into Orphan Train now, I think I'll finish it off tonight."
B&N has had a classic for free almost every day lately. Today it's "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" if anyone is interested. That's how I got "Wuthering Heights." Soon I want to read "Frankenstein." I've never read it either. It's hard to believe it was published in 1818.

The trip to Birmingham, AL, the climax of the narration, brings home the realities of being black in the rural south in the 1960s. Up to that point, the Watsons could have been any family in any time in history.
I understand why everybody's having a hard time putting "Orphan Train" down. I got to page 106 at lunch, but now I have to go back to work. Boo-hoo-hoo!
