Pamela Pickering Ang, sorry about the headaches! that's so annoying. I've heard butterbur helps with migraines but I haven't tried it myself. It's like headaches get in the way of the words, right?

Karen Laird (shadetreebookreviews) | 228 comments Slow to the discussion, but am sitti ng here in the quiet of the early morning contemplating my to be read list. I have set aside Random Acts Of Kindness for next month's read.....so, now what to choose. Looking back through the discussion, Little Girl Lost looks good. I have The Boy in the Wooden Box by Elisabeth Leyson, The Kings Favor by Elizabeth Chadwick, and The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley....other suggestions?

I really enjoyed Little Girl Lost. The writer is from Northern Ireland and his books are now being published one by one in the US. The second in this series, "Someone You Know," just came out here last week. Unlike a lot of crime thrillers, the main character is female and her cases mostly revolve around children. It is well-written and I enjoyed learning some of the Irish lingo! I have just started the second one, but haven't gotten very far.

Hi Deb! Glad to hear you had a great day on your birthday. The girls are doing great. Madison just started the summer reading program at the library and Olivia just turned eight months old last week. She just got two teeth in and has now learned to crawl all over the house! Needless to say she's keeping me busy chasing her around! :)

April glad to hear the girls are doing well. I guess you won't be sitting still for a few years :)

Ang, I'm jealous. I used to have time to read all my favorite authors and Christine Feehan used to be on that list. Let us know how you liked it.

Oh I hate those. Hope it either gets better or maybe it's time to close the book on Meridian.

message 64: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Pickering I usually bail on books I struggle with but I want to know Meridian's story. The story is not very cohesive and hard to follow. This is one book that could have benefited from a good editor.

I finished The Friendship Pact look for my review and my author interview tomorrow on the blog. This interview was supposed to happen in February but I had recently got a new email service at work and missed that she sent the Q&A back to me, so better late then never :). The author Tara Taylor Quinn has survived some tragic adversities in her own life. I love the way she tells a story and is a very diverse author, her novel Behind Closed Doors is still my very favorite about hate crimes and is closely related to two other novels, At Close Range and In Plain Sight. Chilling and thrilling.

Now I'm on to The Winter Guest it's a September Mira release that they have requested an early review for. Second World War in Poland, so far can't put it down!

Pamela Pickering Gave up on "Meridian"--SO wanted to read an Alice Walker book. Now I've picked up Skylark Farm. I have never heard of this one before so it should be interesting (I tend to like those "off the beaten path" books) as it is translated from Italian.

Yes 11/22/63 was a great book. So much history and King did a good job of capturing the era and the mood of that time. Another favorite of mines is The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

It's just mind blowing that a father could do such a thing to his wife and two sons. It was a horrific tragedy and that made it an emotional read, but the author presented it in a very informative style.
