Childhood’s End by Arthur C. Clarke. Not specifically space opera by definition, but still a pretty good read.

Finished Babylon 5: Out of the Darkness last night. Moving on to Storm from the Shadows (Honorverse: Saganami Island #2)
Just saw the next Honorverse book is due next year so its time to catch up.
I'm reading Starfarers by Poul Anderson. Initially it was a bit hard to get into; the writing style was a bit too stiff and formal to be absorbing. It's improving as I go on, but I doubt it'll end up being a favourite.
I have been reading The Human Division. I absolutely love John Scalzi, and especially the bits of humor he throws into the books! The Human Division
I'm rereading the Vatta's War series. Almost finished with #3: Engaging the Enemy. It kept me up too late last night. ;)
I've been reading
Foundation, Foundation and Empire, Second Foundation by Isaac Asimov and listening to
Secrets in Death by J.D. Robb
I just finished Sourdough, which is not space opera but is a nice story. At the same time and still continuing, I am reading Terra and Imperium, which definitely is.
I started reading/listening to
Foreigner by C.J. Cherryh yesterday. So far, I'm not enjoying it as much as I did
The Pride of Chanur

I've never listened to an audiobook, so I don't know how that would play, though it does have a single POV which probably helps. I'd imagine that Cyteen would be a tough slog when narrated.
I'm about halfway through The Augenspire by V. St. Clair. Dystopia, set on another planet so counts as SF (not space opera) but there is magic as well as technology. Multiple POV, with one being 17 or 18 yo. For those who like YA dystopias, it is well written. I usually avoid dystopias, but preordered this one because I enjoyed several of the author's fantasy books very much.
Kirsten wrote: "I started reading/listening to

The fact that it's billed as a first contact tale and it has nothing to do with that is annoying, but I could ignore the bad marketing if the rest of the story were interesting. Instead, it just reads like James Clavell's Shōgun, where she crossed out "Japanese" and wrote in "alien."
Trike wrote: " (Foreigner) just reads like James Clavell's Shōgun, where she crossed out "Japanese" and wrote in "alien."I never noticed that, but you have a point. Of course the 30 year difference in publishing dates reduces the "derivative" factor a bit.

Not sure, I loved all of Clavell's work much more than this.
I finished the excellent space opera
Ninefox Gambit by Yoon Ha LeeReview: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

When it comes to MAGE stories I think Glynn Stewart writes the best. I am reading his latest INTERSTELLAR MAGE and it is as good as all the rest.
I just started Interstellar Mage. I liked Glynn Stewart's previous Starship's Mage series and this is supposed to be based in the same universe.
Rereading the Tolari Space series. Main starting point is The Marann by Christie Meierz. Aliens, romance, good world building, culture clashes.
Dead Man's Debt, which is book 3 in our book of the month series Poor Man's Fight.I'd highly recommend joining in on this month's read or reading this series.
Literally I started reading it 3 days ago, and only put down my kindle in the middle of book 3 yesterday when my battery died, and I realized it was well past my bedtime. :D
Rereading the Stardance trilogy by Spider Robinson, for the first time in at least five years. Somewhere I have an autographed hardback, but what I'm reading is the ebook. Space and aliens but far from typical space opera. Classic that I don't reread very often because it takes a long time for the details to be forgotten and the crucial scenes I never forget.
ETA: dangit! Only the first one is available as ebook. So I won't be rereading the whole trilogy.....

That Stardance ebook turned out to be the original novella, which is only the first third of the first novel. I found my autographed hardback and tried not to strain my eyes too much. Worth it though!
Earlier today I finished reading Diving into the Wreck (for first time) and so now I'm reading the sequel City of Ruins.

I just started The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, and I'm really enjoying it. I may have to add a copy to my shelves. I recently finished Too Like the Lightning and have moved on to the second book in that series, Seven Surrenders
Teresa, have you read Spider's Callahan's Chronicals? Very funny multiverse stories, especially if you know some trivia like who Nickolai Tesla was.
I've been reading Star Wars lately (new cannon - can it still be called 'new'?). I recently finished Leia, Princess of Alderaan by Claudia Gray and enjoyed it.GR review here:

Yup. Read the first ones as they were published in Analog. Got the Lady Sally books too. It was hard to pick which book to send with my daughter to that con to get Spider's autograph.
My fondness for puns has waned over the decades, so I don't enjoy the Callahan's stories as much as I used to.

I recall when we did an SF convention at the Mississauga Campus of the University of Toronto back in 1975 Mr. Robinson was our GOH. at one point during a discussion he looked around and then pulled out a joint and lit it up. Nearly gave my friend who was organizing the event a heart attack. He had visions of the campus police coming along just then.
Another of my recent Star Wars reads is the Marvel graphic novel Darth Maul - was ok but nothing that would constitute essential reading for Star Wars fans.My review:

I'm reading Children of Time, which I actually would say it quite appropriate for this club. Interesting exploration of human civilization expansion and use of terraforming and accidentally making intelligent arachnids.
I hate spiders but I have made my peace with that aspect. :) Not sure about the science really backing up the ability to cryo people for thousands of years, though.
Continuing the Diving Universe series. Now on book 4: Skirmishes. I really liked book 2. The others are readable at least.
Dean wrote: "I'm reading Star Nomad, by the fabulous Lindsay Buroker! I'm loving it!"
Loved it, too!
Finished book 6 of Diving Universe. Skipped book 5 and the various novellas. I want to know what happens NEXT not more backstory.
So now I'm rereading The Rolling Stones by Robert A. Heinlein which makes me want to reread The Moon is a Harsh Mistress but I can't find an ebook edition and the print is wayyyyyy too small in my paperback. Going by memory, the grandmother in Rolling Stones is a young teen character in Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Also, the flat cats are literary ancestors of tribbles on Star Trek.

I've been rereading. Shortly after finishing a reread of Alliance of Equals I started rereading Hellspark. I hadn't noticed the name match before. Both books have characters named Tocohl. Since I know Sharon Lee adores Hellspark, I'm sure this is an intentional reference. Cool!
Currently reading A Path in the Darkness by M.D. cooper. I enjoy the characters but some of the situations seem a bit implausible. The writer keeps the heroes in jeopardy constantly. Still it’s a fun read.
I've got several books on the go at the moment. In sci-fi/space opera, I'm reading Angel Station by Walter Jon Williams, whose Dread Empire's Fall trilogy (book 1: The Praxis) I really enjoyed.I was listening to the audiobook of Vernor Vinge's The Children of the Sky, the sequel to A Fire Upon the Deep, but I put it on hiatus because I didn't think the narration was that great and the book wasn't grabbing me overall. I'll hopefully return to it later.
Leonie wrote: "I've just finished Peter F. Hamilton's The Commonwealth Saga. Wow."I think this is his best work - his early books have some issues with continuity and tonal consistency and can be a bit too "lurid" at times, and his later books all feel padded/bloated (I thought Great North Road felt like either a normal-sized novel that had been padded out to monster length or two books squished uncomfortably into one big one).
I have just finished book #6 of the Expanse series, I love these books. The new book #7 has just dropped through the letterbox and will be started during the Christmas break. Long may they keep coming!
The Commonwealth Saga is probably his best work since it doesn't require the commitment to required to completely read The Night's Fawn trilogy. I'm a huge Hamilton fanboy and think Great North Road is a great way to get into his works if one is just starting out.

I have the audiobook of "Harsh Mistress" and it was decent.
I picked back up Chronicles of Amber with Sign of the Unicorn, which is book three. Also, The Stone Sky, which is the last book of Fifth Season series.
Hellspark
was soooooo good, even on the fifth or whatever reread. I'd be interested in a sequel but there isn't one, so I'm rereading Mirabile
now, also by Janet Kagan.
