February 2016 Monthly Challenge - Back to the Basics
Duration: February 1st, 2016 – February 29th, 2016.


It's time we brought the challenge back to what this group is all about - PARANORMAL reads! For this challenge, read books that include these types of paranormal characters. Please keep in mind that these do not have to be main characters.

Also, if you choose to read several books in a series that contains multiple types of "creatures," you could use each separate book for a different category. (i.e. Think Mercy Thompson, which has werewolves, shifters, vampires, trolls, fae, etc.)

Have fun with this! As always, if you have questions, ask away!


Challenge Rules:

→ When you sign up for the challenge, please post some kind of a place saver so that I can link you up under the participants. Once you have decided on your books, just edit that post so that the link under the Participants List will go to your list!

→ When you finish reading a book, please edit your post and add the date completed.

→ You may only use each book once in the challenge, but feel free to use the same titles in other challenges!

→ If you decide that you've bitten off more than you can chew, feel free to let me know you'd like to downgrade, or even back out of the challenge. Please do not delete the post. It will mess up the links to other participants' postings if you do.

Read a book that includes a...

1. Vampire: These can drink from humans, drink blood from bags, go in sunlight or not, even originate from a different planet...as long as they're vampires!
2. Werewolf: A shifter of the canine variety - can be good or evil.
3. Shifter: Any shapeshifter that does not turn wolfy.
4. Demon or Angel: There could even be both!
5. Witch/Warlock/Wizard: These magical folk might be casting spells, creating potions, causing mischief, etc.
6. God/Goddess: Any background is fair game, be it Greek, Norse, Egyptian, etc.
7. Ghost: Sentient beings, often see-through.
8. Magic: This is pretty open - it can be used for a specific character creating/using magic, or in some cases, simply magic being present. (Think the Kate Daniels series.)
9. Person involved in Paranormal Death: A character that Sees/Hears/Senses the Dead, Grim Reaper, Causes Death by Touch/Kiss.
10. All the Rest!: Here's the catch-all category. If you're reading a paranormal book that does not fall into one of the above categories, it will probably fall into this one. Examples include: Fae, Zombies, Immortals (that are not one of the above mentioned,) Aliens, Trolls, Elves, Djinn, etc.


Difficulty Levels:
Easy (4 books) – Read any 4 options
Medium (6 books) – Read from any 6 options or you can double-up on categories - but no more than two books to a category!
Hard (8 books)– Read from any 8 options or you can double-up on categories - but no more than two books to a category!

Not technically, so novellas are acceptable. If you find something that is only like 10 pages, I would avoid that, but a novella is fine.
