message 252: by Louise (new)

Louise Phew it was tough going in to work and getting the kids to school this the first Monday morning after the Christmas break... Coffee!!! :-)

message 253: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments I had a hard enough time getting myself up and dressed and off to work. Thank goodness I'm not also responsible for several little humans!

message 254: by [deleted user] (new)

I am just thankful my little humans are both bigger than I am and can look after themselves.

message 255: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments Made it through some snow days and much colder temperatures than we are used to. We had a nice dinner out to say goodbye to a coworker. It was $1 taco night! $2.50 margaritas!

My car was parked on a steep angle and didn't have enough gas to start. So I called my sister and fought with her while waiting for my knight.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments A few changes in my life since I last posted here.

Robby crossed the rainbow bridge last summer. He's been doing an awesome job watching over me since then. I was terribly sad for a while after it happened, kind of out of it even.

But I snapped out of it when I realized I needed to find another job (The boss didn't let me off work during the week I had to put him down or afterwards... And it seemed she would have us all work through the holidays while she had a fabulous vacation - she'd said so much. None of us had been able to take a vacation or sick leave since last spring when another team member left - she told us this on several occasions.). I ended up applying for some really awesome job opportunities. I was a contender for my dream job. When that happened I knew it wasn't enough. I needed family in my life again.

So. I turned in my 2 weeks notice at the beginning of November, moved to Texas during Thanksgiving week, and I'm on a job search now. My former coworkers got a break over the holidays (definitely would not have happened if I had not left). My favorite bit of all of this is being close to family again. I love being close to my sister and mother and nephews and feeling hopeful again. I'm paying off any debts I have and plan to go to grad school in a year. By then I should have established myself as a state resident and decided on what to study - I'm deciding between educational counseling, social work, psychology, and occupational therapy.

I'm sure I left big chunks out of that narrative, but you got the important stuff.

2015 is my year. I just know it. :) It's your year, too. I know that, as well.

Anywhooo...

What a wonderful post. I, too, think 2015 is your year.

MissJessie | 60 comments What an optimistic and cheerful outlook. I believe with your attitude 2015 WILL be your year.

message 260: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments Oh, Heidi. My heart hurts for you, losing sweet Robby. How lucky you both were to have each other!

And cheers to you and your fresh start.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Thank you, ladies. :)

I've been on the phone for 20 minutes now waiting to get an update about the status of my health insurance. I paid almost $1K for 3 months of coverage. The COBRA provider confirmed they received and processed this payment over a month ago and needed to send it to my former insurance company. My insurance coverage is still not active. This is rather frustrating. LOL.

Aaaaand the guy from the former insurance company (they've been awesome) just got on the phone with me to tell me my COBRA provider still has not sent them the payment. OH! Wait. They conveniently JUST sent it. It should be a few business days to process it. And they've been telling me they sent the payment almost a month ago. Liars.

I basically paid almost $1K for 5 days of medical insurance coverage.

Guess who's reported this to the Board of Insurance... :). Oh yes she did...

Félix (habitseven) Wow some of my very favorite people chiming in on this thread.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Susan wrote: "I just want to hug Heidi in a very not in her energy space kind of way."

For whatever it's worth, this all may be frustrating, but none of it takes away from the joy of being near family again. That part is just flat out awesome. I suppose they're lucky they have fairly content and joyful Heidi to deal with rather than grieving, miserable, sad Heidi?

Also, I had the best night of sleep last night that I've had in almost a year. :) THAT is super great.

message 267: by [deleted user] (new)

yesterday was a little nerve racking. My daughter drove my car by herself for the first time since getting her drivers license. She also went on her first date.

message 268: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Oh man, Gail. Those grey hairs are going to be popping out.

message 269: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yikes Gail - but she is only ... oh wait. Not anymore.

message 270: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 26, 2015 01:23PM) (new)

Yep, she is pretty much all grown up now. She was so little when I first join up here.

Plenty of grey hairs. It's now fashionable right?

message 271: by MissJessie (new)

MissJessie | 60 comments Your daughter must be one very happy kid about now.

Gray hair is cool. If it's gray and not that icky yellowish color mine is. Which is why I dye it.

message 272: by [deleted user] (new)

In deed she is Miss Jessie.

message 273: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments How was the date?

message 274: by [deleted user] (new)

i don't really know. She didn't say much. I didn't want to pry.

message 275: by [deleted user] (new)

There is to be a second date, so it must have gone okay. :)

Carol | 1678 comments Definitely ooh!

I had a snow day today. Work caught on and closed early. I made turkey tortellini soup and painted my nails.

message 278: by [deleted user] (new)

I've never had a snow day. :'(

Youndyc | 1255 comments Gail, neither have I.
I have, however, had various hurricane days.

CD | 1577 comments Gail wrote: "I've never had a snow day. :'("

You want one or two? I'll share! Airfare on the other hand might be a bit steep for 'the experience'. Plus airplanes don't often fly in NA on 'snow days' anymore.

message 282: by [deleted user] (new)

One would be nice CD, I might have to save up for the airfare. Do you know when they are coming? I could plan a few days ahead.

All mild weather down here, an very occasional hail storm just for a little variety.

message 284: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Lost my mom last week. :(

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Oh, buddy. So sorry to hear this. Have you had services for Mom?

message 290: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Thanks everyone. Not yet Cynthia. We have been dealing with getting my 94 y.o. dad situated in an assisted living facility first. Planning a memorial some time in the spring in her home town.

It's a 'snow day' right now! Looking out from the front porch in the past hour. And more snow is expected - up to five fresh inches.

Snow Day

Félix (habitseven) Thanks, everyone.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Tired and lazy but a pretty good day overall. Looking forward to Zzzz tonight. Almost every one in the office seems sleepy, must be the weather.

message 299: by MissJessie (new)

MissJessie | 60 comments So sorry about your Mom, Felix. My Mother is in extended care and it has been a good thing for her but finding/moving is a serious pain. Good luck; I think it's harder on you than him in the end.

I fell and broke a bone in my foot; these walking boot things are a serious pain in the foot. It's not healing properly and have a CT scan scheduled next week. Geesh.

message 300: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments MissJessie, Foot injuries are the worst. I got several stress fractures in my right foot a few years ago, and it took so long to heal. There are still times when it will hurt. Hope it gets better soon.
