Thanks! I always knew he was interesting from the threads he started here. Some were random and goofy, others were deeper and thought provoking. He should drag his butt back over and get the conversations rolling again.

Hey there. Goodreads says you already have 47 friends (not creeping, just hovering mouse over your icon), so you're on the right track.

Jennifer Kohlstrom (aimlessdreamre) | 4 comments Lol thanks Phil! And I've had Goodreads for a few years now but have only recently been more active on it so I'm trying! I regret not using Goodreads more back then but oh well better late than never right?

There's a deli I sometimes go to that has really good sandwiches. But their prices have been creeping up over the last few years and yesterday I found myself paying almost $15 for a takeout sandwich.

I'm going to stop paying $15 for a takeout sandwich. It was roast beef, and they are generous with the meat, but still.

And then, the kicker was, you give them your phone number with every order so you accumulate points. I never knew what the rewards for the points were, so I asked. She said, "You have 37 points. When you get to 500 points, you get $5 off."

You're almost there! Hang in for your $5! Hehehehehe.

message 813: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I am working on a story for the Webster City Daily Freeman-Journal (Iowa) and sneaking a look at C-SPAN to watch the clowns attempt to select a speaker of the US House. I've seen middle schoolers who were better political strategists. Sweet Mary.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Good morning, friends. I was messing around with my friends list and discovered that Clark/Dr. Detroit had deleted his Goodreads account.
I will miss his music videos and snarky comments about Sec. Clinton.

I bet Sally will still have her Clark/Phil confusion going on.

He was one of my Republican boyfriends. He used to give me a lot of sage advice about music. But he hated my profile photo. I will miss Clark. I hope he is OK.

Lisa | 20 comments How am I? Discombobulated. Out of sorts. Inconveniently infatuated. Out of patience for grownups who should know better than the 7-year-old they are arguing with. Staring at the sun (only a glimpse or two through the fog, though, of the annular eclipse). Wondering if I'm hypomanic or just perimenopausal. Deciding that the excess of prefixes in the previous sentence. Exploring whether my favorite color might have changed. Bored out of my fucking mind by the lack of variety in my life, and cheering loudly for a change in favorite color. Recognizing that my true passion is actually just a craving for novelty. Deciding I'm good with that. Claiming 'dilettante' as my core identity. Still and always yearning for more. Alternately embracing and lamenting my changing body. Speculating about what would be different if there hadn't been a global pandemic, and finding it theoretically interesting but practically not worth taking energy away from action. Paralyzed thinking about what action might flap the right butterfly wings. Distracted by googling butterfly wings. Now I'm googling that one song from the 90's, maybe, or maybe the 2000s, there was maybe a butterfly or wings or teen femimism or glitter or...oh, wait. Hi! How are you, and what have you been up to?

Right now I'm just busy, busy, busy. I need an extra two hours in the day to make up for the two hours I spend exercising.

I'm not sure we are. The orange fucktard drove us into a ditch, and then hit the accelerator, driving towards the cliff's edge. That asshole and his musky sidekick are re-enacting that final scene from "Thelma and Louise," with an entire country hog tied and locked in the trunk.

Now everyone except the top 5% is going to have to work 5 years longer than they anticipated before they can retire because our stock portfolios and mutual funds are tanking.

On top of that, almost everything is going to get more expensive very soon. This is the biggest tax increase since 1968.

As I recall, Dump said prices would DROP on Day One of his presidency.

We need multiple Luigis. If Dump exits the stage, Vance might be even worse. Stephen Miller is really running things, in my opinion. The people who need to go ASAP are Dump, Vance, Miller, Vought, and Musk. Everyone else is taking orders from those thugs.

You got that right, LG.
God bless the resistors.

I read something on Substack about the trauma as someone who has experienced sexual assault waking up to literal convicted rapists leading the government and I kind of nodded along and shed a few bitter tears. Every damn day. #MeToo

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Yesterday at a parade in Stanhope, Iowa, MAGA men flirted with me. Not in a clever way, just looking for a quickie. One guy started asking me if I was warm in my floral dress and touching me and my hat. I said I'm a Democrat but I hope you won't hold that against me. Seriously, dude, get your hands off. I had to repeat myself.
Some of these guys can not wrap their heads around the male loneliness epidemic and take zero responsibility for their lack of a personality. Wild.
I'm turning 65 next month and am too old for this shit.
