Carol | 1678 comments It was very pretty out this morning. The whole backyard is mowed and the dogs were frolicking.

I'm leaving for lunch...right now!

Louise What *is* Hawaiian fried Rice?

Feeling better in the job department, I was just invited to interview for a nice job at another firm in 2 weeks - nothing is certain, but it helped! :-) (and I got two new books in the mail today!)

message 53: by [deleted user] (new)

Subject to reference checks which won't be a problem. I have been offered employment.

message 54: by [deleted user] (new)

Good luck Louise.

Susan | 6406 comments Oh no, Angus! :(

Art walks, niece/nephew hockey games and a grill out. My weekend is stacked. :)

evie (ecie) | 4437 comments Today I'm picking up some champagne for my daughters birthday celebration next week. Tomorrow is Mother's Day so I'm visiting mum.
Also, I'm hoping to make some some soup but it's unlikely.

message 59: by [deleted user] (new)

Happy Mother's Day ladies.

My kids and DH took me out to brunch this morning. When transferring a payment for something this evening I saw how much it cost. What a rip off. It was just our local cafe nothing fancy. It really peeves me off that prices are tripled for events such as this. #$%£&!#!!!

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

The weather here was gorgeous too. The cafe we went to opened to the outdoor.

message 61: by [deleted user] (new)

Just doing the morning school thingy. I have had enough of providing things for lunchs. My son is such a fussy little so and so. Doesn't like sandwiches, doesn't like cold meats etc etc. er-mer-gerd, he seems to think it is my fault there aren't things provided for lunch.

message 62: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments actual bears??

message 63: by [deleted user] (new)

I am struggling to find a few minutes in my day to come in and chat. I started my new job on Monday.

message 64: by Louise (new)

Louise Yes how's the job Gail?

message 65: by [deleted user] (new)

Early days, the people are lovely. They are currently in the process of implementing new computer systems, so are in a state of chaos. I am simply trying to look intelligent whilst juggling public transport issues, dropping kids at school, sport, music etc etc in the back ground.

message 66: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4437 comments That's great news! I wonder where he has been these last weeks.

message 67: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Huge yay!!

message 68: by [deleted user] (new)

Great news Barb. He was probably off playing with Marla the tramp.

My Henry went missing for 3 weeks. Poor baby was trapped in the neighbor's basement and subsisted on toilet water and a sparrow that was down in the basement with him. The house was on the market and the realtor found him. He sure was skinny.

message 70: by Louise (new)

Louise Great news Barb!

My husband got back from a 9 day business trip to Las Vegas yesterday, so I got lot's of new nail polish :-)
Sparkly sparkly

message 71: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Hopefully, he did not bring "sexy" underwear from Las Vegas. Sparkly polish is a better gift, in my opinion.

message 72: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments Congratulations on the new job, Gail!

he wouldn't :-) candy, nail polish and some nice sweaters :-)

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Carol.

message 75: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments It is far too beautiful out to be in this windowless office. I'm going upstairs to shift some books, at least I can see outside!

message 76: by [deleted user] (new)

It's a cold wet weekend here.

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

I have been listening to meditation tapes to try and keep my stress levels down. With Mr G working night shift, the kids in their final few years of high school, my new job is proving to be a lot more demanding than I expected. The last four weeks have gone by in a blink.

message 78: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments Again not sure how many people will be around for Father's Day. I think I'll make strawberry shortcake and buy some chips.

message 79: by MissJessie (new)

MissJessie | 60 comments Visited my Mother today. That is always aggravating and depressing. But it's done for the week.

I'd like some of that shortcake....

message 80: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments Happy Canada Day, neighbors!

message 81: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Guys. I've been flat out like a lizard drinking. Hope you all are well and are enjoying some warmer weather. It has gotten cold here.

message 82: by Kadijah Michelle (new)

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) Barb, sounds like we are having the same week. I've already conquered the laundry, but now must wrestle my kids play/craft room into submission. So of course I'm starting to read discussions on GoodReads (wondering what took me so long!?!). Awwwwwww coffee, as long as there is some in my cup, the day hasn't actually started.

message 83: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments Drive-in tonight if the rain stays away.
Muppets
Maleficent
Blended together

CD | 1577 comments Week over, feet up, food and beverages in stock. Probably time for a nap before some serious rest :)

Everyone have a safe weekend, those of you in North America remember this important note:

This is an amateur weekend so stay safe with the less than fully competent drivers out and about!

Everybody have a fun weekend and may many of you also have a 3-day or 4-day like we are set to enjoy!

HAPPY 4th of JULY!

message 85: by [deleted user] (new)

Enjoy your 4th July celebations CD. My weekend is still 5 hours away from starting.

message 86: by [deleted user] (new)

Do you go to the drive-in often Carol? I hope your car is super comfortable for the marathon.

message 87: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments We do go to the drive-in quite regularly. It is just a few miles from our house. It's open April-October. Some of the movies are brand new releases and some are a bit behind - We saw Spiderman and Captain America together after they were out of the theatres.

It did rain but it was right in the middle of Maleficent so I wasn't leaving. Great night, home at 3:30!

And we have a giant old Cadillac - lots of room. We usually sit outside for the first movie.

I picked up my daughter from the airport last night. She just returned from a two and a half week music tour of Europe.

message 89: by [deleted user] (new)

She had a fantastic time. They went to Paris, Lucerne, Annese, Salzburg, Munich and Venus. Performing in various locations as they toured around. Yesterday she slept most of the day. I doubt whether she got much sleep over the two week period. I got her home from the airport at about 11:30pm, my son had waited up for her return. The two of them were buzzing. He had missed her very badly. I went to bed around 12:15am, leaving them with instructions not to stay up too late. :)

message 90: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments Sounds wonderful!

message 91: by Louise (new)

Louise Sounds like she had a great trip Gail :-)

message 92: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4437 comments What a great trip! It's nice that your son missed his sister, Gail.

message 93: by Louise (last edited Jul 22, 2014 04:14AM) (new)

Louise I'm excited about tomorrow! The Booker longlist will be announced and The Curse of Naxxramas will be published for Hearthstone (I sense a reading vs playing the new game conflict in my immediate future!)

message 94: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments What a great conflict to have!

message 95: by Louise (new)

Louise yup :-)

Went to help out on my daugthers yearly Scout summer camp yesterday, she's there all week and so is my husband. They're doing a cowboy/indians theme, and there was lots to do! My legs are a bit sore, so it's nice to relax at home today :-)

message 96: by Louise (new)

Louise The yellow scouts, where my daugther is a member, are based on the old Baden-Powell ideas, the boys and girls are mixed and there is *no* political or religious contents/context. It's a lot of fun, and the kids learn a lot about working together and being more independent :-)

I think that's pretty cool and they should have more interactive groups like that!

message 98: by CD (new)

CD | 1577 comments As long as some group of scouts keep selling thin mints and the peanut butter cookies, we're good!

message 99: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (littlemissred3) | 71 comments That's good, and I LOVE the cookies they sell!

message 100: by MissJessie (new)

MissJessie | 60 comments And I don't know the name, but the ones that are thick and have caramel. Good grief, I can eat an entire box at a time.

Thin mints, especially Frozen, are wonderful anytime.
