I liked this book for the first 100 pgs or so but then it started to go down hill really quick. I am a fan of books that are predominantly about romance with some other stuff going on. This book became too much about Barney solving the riddle and I was bored. My least favorite in the series thus far.

Elvis, Jesus, and Coca-Cola by Kinky Friedman

This was a fun one. Definitely adult but funny. It has a great mystery. Definitely interesting entertaining book. it even has Elvis impersonators. I will definitely read more of this author.

This was a easy read. It took a little bit to get into, but went quickly once i did. The story was predictable but the characters were likable.

I think I was the last one? We're all good? Who rolls?

Review: This book was very suspenseful. I liked it, but I still think that the first book is better. I think I love the TV show more than the books. I guess it's because of the different direction the TV show has taken. Like I still can't get over the fact that Toby is already dead and that Emily is sent to Iowa because her parents found out she's gay. It's just such a different path than what the TV show decided to do. I like how it shows that no matter how far away one of the girls goes, she still isn't too far from A.

Thank you she is doing much better than she was yesterday morning. They finally released her from the hospital this evening. I'm just glad she's okay.

Review/Rating: ★★★★✩ I enjoyed this book, despite having to suspend belief in several situations. I was going to give it ★★★½✩, as it's not one of Howard's best; however, one of her “less-than-best” is soooooo much better than someone else's best. I chose to overlook those moments when I could have shook my head or set it aside, and instead went with the flow. There are a lot of little jewels in this book and I really enjoyed each of them. So easy for me to picture the bed & breakfast, the little town, and these characters.
A bit repetitive in parts and hard to believe the heroine, Cate, flips a switch -- just like that -- into "insta-love," since she was still grieving her husband a few pages ago. Widowed three years is a long time when you're that young, but still. I did like that the hero, Calvin, blushes and is quite bashful around Cate. Nice change, that. Even more fun when the tables turn. (view spoiler)
Lots more action than romance and we get the backgrounds and thoughts of the villains. Good secondary characters in this one, with all the townspeople held hostage and banding together to overcome a threat. Some critics didn't believe that a small town in Idaho could be cut off like that in this day and age... but I don't know. Some little places are very isolated and I know how it feels when my Internet goes out - along with my cable & phone!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

The Witness - Nora Roberts
Qualification: stand alone
Finished: 2/24/16
Rating & Review: 5 stars
Elizabeth Fitch's highly controlled teenage life suddenly falls apart on the day she witnesses a brutal murder and runs to the police for protection. When that also falls apart she runs again, spending the next 12 years on the run. Now as a solitary computer security analyst living on the fringes of a small Ozark community she begins to think of settling in one place. But this change caused by her developing relationship with Brooks Gleason, town sheriff, his family and a town that wants to get to know her forces her to make some tough decisions about her past.
This story had a great mix of action and humor. Abigail (aka Liz) is a genius, who led a programmed and now reclusive life. Her interactions with various characters is often humorous, not over the top geek humor, but fraught with awkward situations. But her powers of logic and finding solutions to difficult problems are amazing. Though you need to suspend belief in believing all of this could work out, it is a fun, exciting journey. Highly recommended.

Title: Waiting for Someday Soon by Tiffany King
Qualification: Has to be 50th, 5th, standalone or have a pink cover
Finished: 2/20/16
Rating & Review: 3 Stars
This book was heartbreaking. With a very serious real problem in it. However I had a very hard time buying the whole stepford town. How is it that all these people except for three living in bumf**k nowhere have buckets of money? It just didn't make sense. Also his mom insults her in a horrible way but it is never addressed. She never apologizes instead it is just swept under the rug. It was sweet in a YA type of way but woefully unbelievable.

Lol thank you. It is purely out of necessity. I work full time and go to Law school full time so I can only read on Saturdays.

This one was good! I truly loved the relationship between the main characters. I also really like that the relationship was very realistic. I did have a problem with the end of the book. It just seem to end with no big flair. I will try this author again.

I loved this book's little mystery that happened during the first half. Once the mystery of the baby's mother was solved, the book finished quickly. I spent the last three chapters crying, both out of sadness and joy. I did enjoy it, but i knew how it would end from the moment i picked the book up.

Thank you Lisa. She's doing fine

The Paris Wife by Paula McLain
Finished: 2/26/16
Rating: 3 stars
Review: The Paris Wife is pretty interesting, but it took me awhile to get into it. I guess I don't like romance as much as I used to. I did love how she captured the atmosphere of post-war Paris, though. It kind of made me feel like I was actually there experiencing the same environment that Hadley was. The story is told from Hadley Richardson's point of view, Ernest Hemingway's first wife. Hadley is older than Ernest and a shy, naive, and gullible lady. I just couldn't believe she put up with some of the things that went on in her life with Ernest. There is no way in this world that another woman would just crawl into me and my husband's bed in the middle of the night. I think that would probably be the first time I would seriously hurt someone. Overall it's a pretty good story, I gave it 3 stars because it took me halfway through it to become really interested. I almost even DNF'd it.

Valley Of Death - Helen Goodman
Qualification: Allison Aldridge Mysteries, #2
Finished: 2/29/16
Rating & Review: 4 stars
First Allison Aldridge's classroom and then her home are broken into, but nothing seems to be missing. Then her neighbor disappears leaving her heart medication behind, not a likely happening. The detective who comes is a former student who doesn't object to Allison helping in the investigation. Her long distance boyfriend, Fred, is also a detective and throws in his thoughts as well. When her neighbor's husband dies in a work accident and Allison is attacked in her home things pick up steam. More people hit the suspect list and counterfeiting is added to the equation. This is not a difficult puzzle to solve but an enjoyable mystery. I like the characters and look forward to the next volume.

Review/Rating: ★★★★★ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Harmony, Texas is a joy to revisit, savor and treasure. I loved listening to Cord McDowell and Nevada Britain’s love story, as read by Julia Gibson, who seems to enjoy the return visits as much as I do. It comes across in her soft, steady voice, imbued with gentleness. As perfect for these two opposites as they are for each other.
The relationship of Ronny Logan and Marty Winston is the secondary story here, and there are plenty of tears this go round; however, they were the quite ones, the ones that roll gently down my cheeks. Ms. Gibson updates us on Ms. Thomas’ star-crossed couple with compassion and tenderness. I knew the sadness was coming since the last book, so I assumed I wouldn't cry. Sometimes I’m so naive.
Ms. Thomas has a Master’s degree in Family Studies, and it comes through in the dynamics between her beloved characters, always pulling me into their lives as if they were flesh, blood, and heart. Very real.
We get a bit more of Martha Q in #6 and she always brings a smile. Also, the Biggs brothers, Beau Yates, and Tyler Wright (who has a perfect line, at the perfect time, delivered to the far from perfect Dallas, Ronnie’s mother). Sheriff Alex makes a few short appearances, which is too little of her, but I know I can always reread her story in Somewhere Along The Way, if I want more of her. As much as I’m eager to go on to the next book in the series, past Harmony books are worth visiting again and again, too.

Week 7
Spot: 63 ( or author L)
Title: Runaway Vampire by Lynsay Sands
Qualification: Has to be 6th, 2nd, standalone or have an author with L
Finished: 2/27/16
Rating & Review: 3 Stars
While I liked this book it was really difficult for me picture someone who looks like a 62 year old and someone who looks like a 25 year old having sex. It just had a little too much of the gross factor. Also I felt like the ending fell flat. I turned the last page with the thought "That's it? Really?" The climax just didn't work for me. Oh well even though this wasn't a favorite I do enjoy this series.
