What Are You Reading, Nora and Beyond?
I finished
which was fantastic. Such an emotional book. I also finished
which was another great Brockmann book. I'm now reading
.
Yes. It's me again. Time for my long list of books I read the past month and would recommend.
- Book 7 of the In Death series - LOVED IT! So many books to read and this series just keeps getting pushed on the back burner :( Really going to push through more of the series this year.
- 3rd book in the Fire & Rescue Shifters series by Zoe Chant. These are easy reads and pretty decent - especially if you are a paranormal shifter fan like myself.
- Despite my apprehension, I really enjoyed this book. Just got sucked right in and really enjoyed the characters. I thought the plot got a little much here and there, but nothing I couldn't get over.
- Besides Stephen King and Dean Koontz, Noel Hynd always manages to creep me out (in a good way). This, though, was one of his way less scary/creepy stories but still a good read.
- Loved re-reading this for the BoTMs.
- Not big into non-fiction (especially biographies), but this was both informative and hilarious.
- An easy mystery read.
- Easy romance read.
- 2nd book of the series. Don't really get caught up with books aimed more for children/pre-teens, but this has gotten its hooks in me.
- I've read two other Mrs. Pollifax books when I was in middle school/jr high through Reader's digest. This is the first time getting to read the book that started it all. LOVED IT. Definitely would recommend to anyone who enjoys mysteries, spy novels, and such.
- I enjoyed it and would recommend it to those who like paranormal shifter series. I gave it a 4 star and although I don't regret that rating, I would say that I think a majority would find it more in the 3 to 3.5 star rating area.
- 3rd book in the Mystic Caravan Mystery series. I can't help it. I'm addicted to these books.
- Re-reading :) Anyone that hasn't read this series, I highly suggest doing so. I personally think it's one of her best trilogies.
- This just got release for e-readers/kindle. Couldn't help but get it and reminisce.
- My first audiobook! So glad I went with this one as my first. I can definitely see myself both sticking with the series and becoming a regular audiobook "reader."Link to Review

Beyond the Carousel Just finishedBook 5 in the Wyattsville series. A story beginning around the time of the great depression in 1918, going through many years and generations of the Hawthorne family. We learn of their love, loss, tragedies and mysteries. The courage and love all of these characters had brought tears and encouragement to me. Her books always make me cry. She touches a part of your heart and soul in this book. Her characters are so descriptive and strong, the writing of the times is excellent. Her books are a must!! Another great one!! I would give it infinite stars if I could.
Silence of the Lamps just starting on Kindle. Finished 02/06/17Another great book to the series. **Even in a series, the books can stand alone reads.** Caprice DeLuca is such a warm, compassionate person, who loves her family, friends and anything furry and on 4 legs. She is a home stager by trade, but her experiences in always coming upon a murder, puts her sleuth experience and nose into high gear. Her sister Nikki's competitor Drew, past suitor and past partner in her catering business comes up murdered just after they have a public argument. So when Caprice and Nikki find Drew murdered, Nikki is top on the suspect list. Caprice starts her investigation to make sure her sister is in the clear. Along with all of this, she had to find a temporary home for a pregnant feral cat, her love interest Grant is spending time with his ex-wife who is in town and Uncle Dom is becoming a pet sitter. I just love these books!! The author always surprises me with the "who-dunnit" when I think I have figured out the ending. I can't wait for the next one!! 5 stars
Anita wrote: "Nikki and Karen are both reading older Suzanne Brockmann romances. I just love her older work. Romance with lite suspense. Love it."We finished the Troubleshooters series in another group and went on to her older series. It's not as good as Troubleshooters but definitely close.

Ok, so I gave up on
by Brynley Bush. Just couldn't get into it. Also finished
by Sarah Curtis which had a lot of really great reviews from GR friends but I really didn't like it. Doesn't happen that often, that I differ from so many of my friends but it does happen and this one I was in the minority. And then I finished
by Suzanne Wright and I absolutely loved it! First of a series. Suzanne is becoming a new favorite author of mine. I have loved several of her books now and I really love her writing style. She's one of the few I have said that about besides Nora :).

Love that series! But number one might be my favorite.
Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas in paperback. FinishedAnnabelle is trying to save her family's fortune by trying to find a husband who is a peer. She will settle for nothing less than money and social status. This is her last season before spinsterhood. Annabelle is beautiful, smart, compassionate, strong willed and stubborn at times. She befriends 3 other wallflowers who, seeing Annabelle is the oldest, set up a scheme for Annabelle to snag a husband. Simon Hunt is the son of the towns butcher, a self made millionaire who doesn't belong or want to belong in the upper class. He is arrogant, self willed, charming, handsome, bachelor, and a scoundrel. Simon, knowing of Annabelle's situation, will wait patiently like a spider after a fly, to get her as his mistress. They discover they are attracted to each other but fight it. The playfulness and bantering between them was very enjoyable. The characters are well defined and strong. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the rest in the series. 5 stars
Sunshine in paperbackThe main character Janice, has learned that her husband is dead from a sudden heart attack. Kurt took care of everything, so not only does Janice have the emotional mourning, but she has to care for her home, children, finances and Kurt's business. Janice soon begins to discover some things about her late husband and her loyalty, love and trust are put to the test. This book was very emotional, strong and the characters well defined. It is a stand alone book even though it is part of a series. A fast, fun, romantic read. 5 stars
