At Brodie Operations Security Service, Inc., following your instincts is company policy . . . M. Cassidy—Luke Brodie had heard the name before, some novice bounty hunter working Seattle, catching tricky skips with more success than a newcomer should expect. But the dark curls, sparkly top, and impressive cleavage were not what Brodie had pictured.
Emma Cassidy is tough and smart and sexy as hell. She’s also popping up a step ahead of him every time he’s close to the capture he wants most . . . and there’s no room for learning on the trail of this monster.
Emma has idolized Luke Brodie, the bounty hunter who can bring anyone in. The big man in the soft shoes, with a face like a fallen angel and a reputation for breaking hearts. Watching him in action is intoxicating. But her fight with Rudy Vance is fiercely personal. If he gets too close, Brodie will find out just how ferocious she can be . . .
Kathleen Kelly was born on 14 July 1947 in the Central Valley of California, USA. She obtained a degree in Anthropology and also studied History at the University of California in Santa Barbara. She was a real estate broker, when she met her future husband, Larry Jay Martin. Then, after doing some editing for him, she thought she'd try her own hand at writing. She moved on to become a full time writer.
Published since 1988, she signed her books with her married name, Kat Martin, but she also used two pseudonyms: Kathy Lawrence for a book in collaboration with her husband Larry Jay Martin, and Kasey Mars for her first contemporary romances. The New York Times bestselling writer, among her many awards, has won the prestigious RT Book Review Magazine Career Achievement Award. To date, Kat has over eleven million copies of her books in print. She has been published in seventeen foreign countries, including England, South Africa, Spain, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Greece, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Bulgaria, China, and Korea.

"I've always loved books. I was an avid reader, with any number of my own stories rolling around in my head. Writing them down seemed a logical step."
"I love anything old," Kat says. "I love to travel and especially like to visit the places where my books are set. My husband and I often stay in out-of-the-way inns and houses built in times past. It's fun and it gives a wonderful sense of a by-gone era."
Yay It's yummy Luke Brodie's story. Into the Firestorm the 3rd book in the Boss, Inc. series was awesome. After I read the excerpt for Into the Firestorm at the end of Into the whirlwind I was really looking forward to Luke's book. It didn't disappoint. Luke was all that was yummy and good. He was charming, caring, protective and totally bad ass. Ex military special forces he could take care of business. He played the field but deep down he wanted a family. He just didn't feel like he would be a good husband after all he did and seen in the military. I loved Luke and the way he was all about Emma after meeting her. She was it for him. Even though his feelings scared him he only had eyes for her. Emma was awesome. I love strong kick ass heroines and Emma was all that and more. Emma was strong, brave, smart and she could take care of herself. She was well trained. She knew how to fight, shoot a gun and run down leads. She also had a sweet feminine side. She cared deeply for her family. She would do anything to protect them.
Luke and Emma had a lot of passion. I loved how Luke and Emma teamed up to take down Rudy Vance the SOB that raped Emma's 14 year old niece Ginny. Luke didn't try to tuck the little lady away while he saved the day. He respected Emma and her skills. They worked so well together and had a strong connection. The plot was entertaining and action packed. The suspense kept me on edge the whole book. The secondary characters were endearing and added to the book. I really enjoyed the very small side romance between Emma's sister April and FBI agent Conner Danfield. But I was glad it didn't take away from Luke and Emma's story. I enjoyed getting to catch up with past couples that I loved. Especially Dirk and Meg! They're my favorite of the whole series. So getting to read about their wedding was great. The action at the end was so good. I loved their Hea it was very sweet. Into the Firestorm was a great read for me. I have really enjoyed this series. If you like Romantic Suspense this book is for you!
Into the Firestorm takes the reader back to the BOSS, Inc team, the third book in the series focuses on bounty hunter Luke Brodie, who has a penchant for knee high moccasins…
"It’s different with you."
Although I enjoyed this book I must admit that it felt twice as long as the page count in it’s reading. The story between Luke and Emma was well crafted, but there were parts that seemed to just drag on a little longer than were warranted. I loved the bounty hunter aspect between the pair of them, especially as they were both looking for the same guy, but for completely different reasons. Emma’s are purely personal, you are given the crux of that in the prologue, and Rudy Vance (the villain of the piece) is certainly given the most abhorrent of crimes and tastes as part of his backstory. I am glad the author didn’t delve to deeply into his psyche on that front when telling parts of the story from his POV.
"You okay, baby?"
"Better now."
Plenty of thrills and spills in this one, you can see where the plot is going and the author used the secondary characters well in building up the story development and progression. I like the BOSS, Inc guys anyway, and the banter between them at points lightened the drama a bit. Luke and Emma together were hot and sweet, and I love nothing more than a battle scarred veteran getting his happily ever after, even if it does include getting shot, blown up and almost killed in the route he takes to get there.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall, as proven by Luke Brodie, the big man whose reputation as a bounty hunter is surpassed by none. On the other hand, good things come in small packages, and Emma Cassidy is a fiery bombshell and novice bounty hunter who thinks Luke is her bounty hunter hero. So what happens when two strong-willed hunters cross paths over and over while one of them is on a mission of revenge?
Pretty much, just about everything from passionate arguments, a lot of bull-headedness and some hotter than blazes attraction! Emma is a on a mission to rescue her family and Luke just can’t let her do it alone, but little did Mr. One Night Stand know that this woman will not be deterred as she hunts for one man and captures the heart of another.
Kat Martin is back with action, suspense and two supremely adorable characters, one because she is just such a handful and the other because he is really losing his creds as a hardass hunter whenever Emma is around. Fast- paced, with so many plot twists your head will spin! The final question is, will Emma get her man, or should we say MEN? INTO THE FIRESTORM…read it!
I received an ARC edition from Kat Martin and Zebra in exchange for my honest review.
Series: BOSS, Inc. - Book 3 Publisher: Zebra (January 31, 2017) Publication Date: January 31, 2017 Genre: Romantic Suspense Print Length: 400 pages Available from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble For Reviews & More: http://tometender.blogspot.com
A very promising prologue which I felt boded well, but it didn’t go how I’d anticipated from there onwards. A lot of the action is very linear, almost reality-tv-like as we follow the characters’ actions and activities, but I found myself getting bored, unable to muster up that sense of anticipation that should have accompanied the search for their target. There are winding turns as both Luke Brodie and Emma Cassidy go through just to comb for information, as the introduction of secondary characters, a list of suspects/informants and a romance sub-plot that diffracted the romance and the overall sense of suspense.
I liked Emma well enough I guess; her gutsy determination making her a woman who has to draw the attention of a notorious womaniser because she is different from every other woman he knows. But the cliché has only begun. Luke’s reputation precedes him: he's renowned for finding people just as he is for the rotating number of women in bed for whom not being with a woman for three weeks is made out to be apparently a huge accomplishment (is this really worthy of applause?), where this short period is already termed as a seeming lack of interest in the opposite sex. If that didn’t add to my already less than stellar impression of him, wanting Emma suddenly made him realise he needed a woman badly and how he needed one now was cringe-worthy, as is the denial that he isn’t a manwhore when he is the very definition of the unapologetic, uncommitted male fearing anything more than casual affairs. The setup of a male protagonist who only goes for one-nighters, who is ruled by his razor-focus in the field and a philandering attitude with women somehow cannot resonate with me as some romantic lead worth trumpeting despite Kat Martin’s attempt at rationalising his behaviour as one who finally burned out on one-nighters and found sex with Emma to be the ‘best of his life’.
In short, Luke Brodie is the romantic lead stereotype I never quite signed up for and can’t ever see as a shining example of a romantic lead. There’s enough repetition about how Emma refuses to join his nightly brigade of women but can’t help it because of Luke’s huge sex appeal and how well he fills his clothes. But above all, it was hard to get invested in this pairing beyond their ruminating about how hot each other was, because lust seemed to be the primary reason for hooking up, apart from the shared case they were working on.
On the other hand, Emma Cassidy’s own insecurities about Luke’s reputation, her fear about falling in love with him while knowing that Luke wouldn’t want anything more than their short-term affair made her seem indecisive at best. That Emma went after Luke after he ended their affair (while giving the typical excuse that he didn't deserve her) because he had no courage to fight for their relationship drove the last nail into the coffin for me.
‘Into the Firestorm' missed the mark with me; clearly Martin’s style of writing, use of plot devices and stereotypical characterisations aren’t a fit for me at all.

I am a Kat Martin fan. Thank you, Kat, for the awesome birthday present. Your romance is hot and your plots are always a suspense to the end. "Into the Firestorm" is no different. It is totally, completely, absolutely, stupendously awesome.
Luke Brodie is a partner in BOSS with his brother, cousins and good friend. Luke, former Special Forces, Delta Force, is the Fugitive Apprehension expert of the team and tracks to hardest to find skips. He is currently looking for Rudy Vance who raped Emma's niece, Ginny, skipped bail, assaulted Ginny again and killed the housekeeper. He is also the love em and leave em man-whore. He is a one and done operator who doesn't work with a partner. Luke has his own demons and yet is willing to take on Emma's.
Emma was a middle school until a monster attacked her niece and killed a friend. She on a mission to become a bounty hunter in order to catch Rudy Vance and isn't going to let anyone, even Luke Brodie, stand in her way. She has researched and worked for over 10 months to be able to track and take down this rapist and murderer who has destroyed her family.
These two are on a collision course and the smash up is explosive. They decide to partner up in order to track down Rudy Vance, but the also partner up in another way too. The problem with that is Luke doesn't feel he can be anyone's partner for the long haul. Emma will need to prove him wrong.
After Emma's niece Ginny is raped by her sister Alice's ex-boyfriend, and then their babysitter is murdered when he tries to rape her again whilst out on bail, Emma becomes a bounty hunter. oN her first job she runs into Luke Brodie, possibly the best bounty hunter in the Seattle area and a legend to his contemporaries. When they discover they are both pursuing the man who raped Ginny they reluctantly join forces.
To start with Luke was way too much of a stock character, he felt generic and unconvincing. But as the novel went on he grew on me, his character developed and he slipped out of the alphahole slot I put him in. The plot moved along briskly, I could follow the train of the investigation and there was some nice humour. I felt there was too much sex, I made a note that if they spent as much time investigating as they did having sex they would have caught the bad guy already!
What I really liked was that Emma was clearly a diminutive heroine (and OMG how many times did Luke call her "little" in his internal ramblings?) she packed a punch and soon Luke was treating her as a respected equal.
Weirdly, it was only after the novel had ended and I was reading to blurb about the other books in the series that I realised that I had also read the preceding book in the series - and I really didn't like it! I liked this more, I think the characters still need work to make them memorable across the series but the plot was far superior.
I received a free copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
OK I have to admit, maybe the book wasn't THAT bad, but in the same time I am watching a K-drama with the same plot line and it's done WAAAAYYYY better, so mostly I saw Luke and Emma as the cheap rip off version of that K-drama it took me a while to finish this book because I was pausing a lot, I don't get how are they ready for sex EVERY TIME they are alone, I barely saw a connection between the two .. a lot of things I had to take the writer on her words because I couldn't figure out their relationship So yeah.. I will be off adult books for a while
I vaguely remember reading the first two in this series, and now had some down time for a quick read with a little steamy romance, gorgeous virile talented men, a perky female protagonist who can take down big guys with her bare hands, etc. To top it off, the story takes place in and around Seattle, a place I'm familiar with. Does womanizer Luke Brodie ever let his defences down and fall in love? Read this to find out....
Kat Martin’s complex characters never disappoint. She writes strong women and equally strong men, intelligent and set in their ways—until the romance kicks in, then watch out! I love how Martin weaves the story together with the hero and heroine going after the same thing. Common ground—isn’t that where many relationships begin? Although they have different reasons as bounty hunters seeking their prey, the fireworks between them provide enough sexual tension you must turn the page. Again. And again. I love that about Kat Martin’s books. This was an enjoyable, entertaining story and I too fell in love with Luke Brodie.
We met Luke in the previous book Into the Whirlwind, helping Dirk save Megan in South America. This is his story....
Our heroine Emma trained herself to be a bounty hunter so that she can catch the guy who raped her young niece and killed her housekeeper. Her quest put her in Luke's path who is also a bounty-hunter when he's not helping out at BOSS Inc.
Another action packed book with a creepy villain and a hero who believes he's not worthy of a HEA. Emma is that new assertive heroine who goes after what she wants that we are getting more of in the romance genre.
3rd in a series of a family of PIs and bounty hunters. Luke and Emma meet while trying to catch the same skip. Mind candy but enjoyable. I read the ebook. 4/5
Brodie Operations Security Service, Inc. or BOSS, Inc. for short is a Seattle based security company run by (duh) the Brodies. In book three we find that Luke as finally met his match, who better for battle jaded tough guy Luke to fall in love with than a jaded tough girl out for revenge. I think I liked this one better than the other two, Emma is such a strong character and so determined to do what she has to do. If you have read the previous two books you have seen (well, read) Luke in action so you can imagine his surprise when a petite curly haired woman with some serious curves takes out a bail jumper all on her own. Luke hopes they aren't after the same guy, but when she shows up asking questions about the same guy he's looking for he realizes she doesn't know just how much in over her head she is, and even though their are reasons he never takes on partners he would rather her work with him than on her own and the sexual attraction is not helping the matter.
Emma was all set to be a teacher, but after her niece's rape and the rapist jumped bail and disappeared. Emma stopped everything and for the better part of the last year she has been working out, training, and studying to be a bounty hunter. In her research she has read up on Luke Brodie, she admires him for the bounty hunter he is and for being able to get anyone he goes after. But when she finally meets him she is hit unexpectedly with attraction. Despite all the warning from everyone to not get sexually involved with Luke, and even though Luke knows better and that she deserves better than him they give in to the attraction. They tell each other that it's will just be until the job is over then they will go their separate ways but of course it never works out that easily. When Luke finds out that Emma has plans to kill the guy he is willing to do anything to protect her from having to do that.
Overall, it was a really good suspense. Kat Martin is great with the action and fight sequences. Luke and Emma fit like puzzle pieces they just fit perfectly together.
I had been watching way too much television recently. Specifically, I was caught up in paying attention to our woeful national scene. I needed rescuing right away.
I cracked open the BARD app through the National Library Service (NLS) for those of us who live with a vision impairment and I found this title. The book number is DB88815. This commercial audio version is what you will find on the site.
The narrator did an excellent job with what she was given. Kudos to her interpretation because I don't know if I would have made it through the whole book otherwise.
While this book is listed under Romance Suspense Fiction, I truly believe there was so much romance that it took away from everything else. I concede that this may have been the point but I think the author lacked the ability to cohesively weave together these warring stories. I'm not saying that this couldn't have been done but I was disappointed based on my assumptions.
This story was by no means all horribleness. The character development was written well. I felt Emma Cassidy's anger and frustration behind why she became a bounty hunter. Where I became lost was when her distractions as it related to Luke Brodie just seemed to take over the story for long periods of time. I felt like Emma forgot why she was there in the first place.
I read this book until the end and while not my favorite, I can't be too upset at not having to watch politics for 11 hours and 43 minutes!
Oh, Kat, this story tore me apart! It was really hard to read this book. I walked around a lot and I finished reading it! This is an adult book. There are a lot of graphic scenes and actions. This opens with a murder in Emma's family. Major Spoilers! Now she is a bounty hunter and runs into Luke who is after the same runner. Emma soon shows Luke that she can be tough like him. They keep hunting and find themselves getting caught up in the Japanese mafia. There are a lot of twists and turns. This is such a graphic story. They find a dead body in a cooler. One of their prison inmates will give them information and gets shived and has to go into the hospital. I will say that the ending will go straight to your heart. Be prepared with lots of tissues and having to stop and walk around. If you like graphic women in slave trade and Japanese Mafia then this is also about a young girl who gets raped. Check this book to see if you want it. Give it a chance! I volunteered to read and review this book.
Into the Firestorm by Kat Martin was a thrill ride from start to finish. Luke Brodie and Emma Cassidy are both bounty hunters looking for the same man; but not for the same reasons. Luke is broken but seems to have accepted his life as it is. Emma has worked hard to become a strong and kick ass bounty hunter to right a personal wrong. Both of these characters were complex and this added so much as their relationship developed. We also got to visit with some of the characters from the previous books as well. The plot moved swiftly and there more twists than the usual romantic suspense to keep me turning the pages. Romance, suspense, human trafficking, action and the Japanese mafia all tangled together to make a book that was impossible for me to put down. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Zebra/Kensington via NetGalley.
Into the Firestorm is the 3rd book in the BOSS, Inc series, penned by Kat Martin. I thought it was the best out of the series so far. The reason, the plot, the plot, the plot. Not to say that I am easy, but when an author can hold my attention longer than a chapter, then I know that I am in it for the remainder of the book.
Emma Cassidy didn’t want to become a bounty hunter, it was forced upon her. When her young niece was raped and the same man attempted to do it again. Emma decided to take the law into her own hands to bring the man to justice. But, to do so, she must outwit the top bounty hunter Luke Brodie.
Into the Firestorm was an enjoyable book from the beginning, middle, and end. This book is a keeper. A must read for readers who like strong female characters who can go toe to toe with a strong dominating alpha male.
Emma Cassidy is tough. She’s decided to find the man who raped her niece and killed her sister’s housekeeper. She’s worked hard training to become a bounty hunter. Hard enough to impress even cynical, highly accomplished Luke Brodie. It’s great that Martin had Emma take the time and effort to make herself capable of hunting down a monster. It’s also impressive that Luke is attracted to Emma’s capable handling of herself in tough situations.
Luke agrees to work together with Emma not only because they can help each other but because he finds her fascinating. It’s no surprise the two end up together and I was glad to see it happen.
While the story was predictable, it was both entertaining and suspenseful with interesting characters and intrigue.

I enjoyed this fast-paced detective novel, with their dangerous search following the clues and dead bodies. The romance was spicy and it flowed well with the story. Emma and Luke, both bounty hunters, made a good couple and were likeable from the start. I did want to smack Luke upside the head a few times, but he was acting in character, and part of the storyline. A fun pulse-pumping story.

Excitement and adventure surround Luke Brodie and Emma Cassidy as they track down fugitive Rudy Vance. For Luke as a bounty hunter this is business and even though he normally refuses having a partner, he can't turn teaming up with fellow bounty hunter Emma down when he learns her very personal reasons for wanting to catch Rudy Vance. It has nothing to do with the intense attraction between the two of them....nope, nothing at all!!
These are great characters and the story is very well done. It's a highly entertaining read and I would definitely recommend it.
This was yet another great read in the BOSS, Inc. series by Kat Martin. I don't know if it was my favorite, but it was definitely action-packed and kept my attention. Emma was perhaps my favorite heroine in the series though (Dirk was my favorite hero).
Emma has become a bounty hunter after her niece was raped and the guy who did it is on the run after making bail and attempting to do it again. She'll do anything to protect her family, including training for months to become a bounty hunter. I have to admit, I loved her fierceness and dedication. She was one tough chick and could hold her own, that's for sure.
Luke was previously introduced to us and we came to know him as the go-to guy when things needed to get done and backup was needed. He certainly proved himself in this book as well. He notices Emma in a bar one night trying to pick up the same skip he is. She gets to the skip first, takes the guy down and he's instantly impressed with her skills. She ends up getting into an altercation with some bad bikers later, but takes most of them down as well before Luke steps in to 'save the day' when she's about to be jumped. From here on out, they agree to work together, even though Luke never works with a partner.
I liked that Luke respected Emma's capabilities. He didn't discount her just because she was a woman, he recognized her strengths. Despite his best intentions though, he can't keep his hands off Emma and they begin a relationship - for as long as they're on the case. Luke is a notorious womanizer and he doesn't think he'll ever be worthy of a family, so he wants to keep his emotions out of things. But that's never how it goes with these books and soon they're both caught up trying to protect the other and keep their hearts out of the equation.
They take on the Japanese mafia, the sicko Rudy who raped her niece and a host of other bad characters along the way. Kat Martin definitely doesn't leave out all the graphic parts though - this one has a ton of them, so be warned, although they're tame in comparison to ones from Karin Slaughter for example.
After they wrap up the case, Luke blows Emma off because he doesn't think he's worthy of a family since he kills people for a living (sometimes) and has done it in the past. Emma thinks he's a hero - and after he exhibited his skills in that warehouse, I'd say he is too - and wants to be with Luke. But of course Luke is one stubborn man and keeps his distance. Of course it all works out in the end and they get their HEA. I thought the reconciliation scene was a bit rushed - Luke goes from 'we can't do this' to 'OMG, I love you so much' in 3.5 seconds. But otherwise, it was a great conclusion to their story.
I also enjoyed seeing Emma's sister, April and Con (the FBI agent protecting them), get their HEA as well. It didn't take away from Luke/Emma's story, but it was a nice addition.
One thing I love about Kat Martin's books is that we don't get long chapters that never seem to end. She breaks down the chapters into different points-of-view and those sections last only a few pages. So if I have to put the book down to make dinner or something, I don't feel as though I'm stopping in the middle of something and can easily pick back up where I left off later on. This helps a lot for those of us who are busy and don't always have an extended time to dedicate to relaxing with a good book.
Into The Firestorm delivered everything I’m looking for in a Romantic Suspense story. Action packed, totally despicable villain, and a couple that totally fits together like a well worn glove. And I must confess that I absolutely adore the BOSS, Inc group. Having the chance to run into favorite characters from this series is always a bonus for me.
Luke and Emma are after the same skip – for vastly different reasons. When the decision is made to pair up in the search, each may work well with the other – but they each want to be the one to take this piece of crap down. While Emma had a bit of hero worship for the image of bounty hunter Luke, she was unprepared for his effect on her. To have this amazing man look at her with that unique look in his eyes was more than she expected. Luke has always been a no commitment kind of guy. He’s seen too much, done too much to ever feel that he’d be good husband, family material although that was what he truly wanted. For him, Emma was the one, and he couldn’t imagine walking away – so they had a bad guy to take down, and a life to get on with together.
If you haven’t started the BOSS, Inc series yet, I would highly recommend that you get started on that. Some may say that each book is a stand alone in an ongoing series, and I suppose that’s true to a point. Still, characters cross over, show up where you’d least expect them and add to the overall feel of the series. If given the chance, I’d start at the beginning and enjoy each book along the way.
I would definitely recommend this story and this series to any reader who enjoys Romantic Suspense, kick butt heroes and heroines, a nasty villain to take down and action packed scenes. Kat Martin delivers a fantastic series, and you’ll want to enjoy each story.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Emma idolized Luke and they were both bail enforcers (bounty hunters), but they were as different as night and day. Luke was tall and muscular and Emma was short on the pixie side but she could really hit the big boys and take them out all by herself. Which really impressed Luke. and they were chasing Rudy Vance who raped Emma's niece and wanted her again, he planned on kidnapping her an wanted to make her his slave. Well, they finally end up at the dock of the shipping guru Rudy Vance has both Emma and Luke handcuffed, and they've already beaten Luke and they r in the process of cutting Emma little finger off, when she lets go of a blood-curdling scream, Luke losses it and starts kicking and shoving everybody that's within his reach, kills 3 of them, strangles Rudy, leaves several wounded and kills a few more before the FBI gets there. They r both rushed to the hospital, where Luke is discharged and Emma has her finger re-attached, then Luke leaves for someplace unknown. Emma crying her eyes out but after 3 wks of that she goes on the hunt, tells him she really loves him and he admits to loving here too. All ends well!
I loved this book. Emma was a strong, independent heroine--made that way by her grit and determination to make things right and extract justice for her family after her teenage niece was raped. When Luke Brodie--famous among the Seattle bounty hunters--meets her, she is gaining a reputation for herself as a skilled and capable bounty hunter. Their search for Rudy Vance pushes them into a partnership, which quickly grows into something stronger than a business relationship. I like that someone as strong and alpha as Luke Brodie (former Special Forces) can be shown to need someone else--not just romantically or emotionally. Emma proves to be a valued asset in the hunt and Luke trusts her to have his back. It was great to see him not just saving the weaker female, but rather respecting and working with a female who was his equal. And yet all of her "bad-assness" didn't detract from her femininity. Emma was still a sexy, vulnerable woman motivated by love above all. If you're already a fan of Kat Martin, this one won't disappoint. If you're new to Kat Martin, I think this one will have you wanting more!
This third book in the B.O.S.S. Series or really book six of these Brodie men. Emma is after the name who raped her niece and is coming back for her. She and her sister are away with the Marshall Service waiting for Rudy Vance to be found. It was hard to believe that Emma used to be a school teacher because the kick butt woman was believable.
Emma has heard about Luke Brodie, Bounty Hunter extraordinaire and wants him to help her. She’s also heard about his reputation with the ladies. Luke is in it for the money. Emma is in it for revenge. Emma was shopping instead of being home with her niece when she was raped. That was brought up one too many times for me - be real never go shopping? This could not have been predicted to happen. It wasn’t like she was left home alone.
There is a chemistry between Emma and Luke immediately. Because of Luke’s military back ground he has seen and done things that make him yearn for a family but that won’t be for him. Ok another -be real. They do work well together, bounty hunting and being a couple. People from previous books make lots of appearances. All in all a good series, glad I read them.
So... I wanted to read this book and thought I should read 1 & 2 first. Book 1 was not great. So I skipped Book 2, I didn't really care about Meg or the fu man chu stash. So onto this book... it was good in the sense that there wasn't an insta-love. I have 2 quotes that really just irritated me. The first one was when I was 50% through the book Val said "Meg's right. When it comes to women, guys like ours need a little time to get their heads on straight." WTF ever. Both Val & Meg's "men" were in love and not hiding it like 3 chapters in. Then 53% of the way through the book Emma said something about how Agent Conner took time off from work to get her sister situated in Denver. First her and her sister didn't sit on the phone long enough for her to start gossiping about him taking off time. She hadn't talked to her in months and the FBI agent isn't going to gossip to the sister about that, that's a girl thing. So that annoyed me the most. It was a pretty good book, not a series I will love but it passed the time.
Bounty hunter Luke Brodie is good at what he does. Emma Cassidy has trained hard as a bounty hunter for only one reason. She's going to get the man who brutally raped her neice and sent her neice and Em's sister into witness protection. Luke is after the same man. When their paths cross Luke is surprised to find himself impressed with her skills, even as he worries about her lack of experience. He agrees to work with her. As they get farther into the chase, they find danger coming from many corners. But for Luke, the biggest danger is Em herself and his growing feelings for her.
I loved Em. She's strong, she's confident, but she knows her limitations. Luke is a loner, but falls into the partnership with Em pretty easily, albeit reluctantly. He becomes her teacher but uses her strengths. I had a little trouble accepting the easy way the alpha male in Luke so easily worked with Em, but I loved the story and the relationship. It's another great story from Ms. Martin.

Wow, great page turner for sure. Kat Martin knows how to write romance suspense. This part of BOSS Inc series. This is Luke Brodie story. Luke is a bounty hunter.
